I am from Germany and I think you have a very German sounding accent when speaking English. There are some exceptions ofc, but some sentences sound like you lived your whole life in Germany and English is your second language.

Smiling for no reason could mean being able to express happiness without fear of judgement because it's generally accepted. Very African indeed!

Its a cultural issue. In Africa people laugh wholeheartedly in Restaurants. But i think Germans are more conservative when it comes to emotions.

@@bellawangari8557 In restaurants? But there are mostly people there who want to eat quietly. That's right, you don't laugh out loud in restaurants. You can risk that in bars.
