Please don't take this the wrong way but every time I watch your videos, I cry at some point. I know 100% it's not a sad cry 😭 but I just tear up. You seem to have this wide eyed joy of just BEING YOU and I'm here for it. You light up about your day's plan and I love that you sit down to "eat" with us. I know things might get rough at times but you have a non quitting spirit and you are just simply awesome. Thanks for sharing your life. ❤️❤️
Hey she is absolutely right. You have to be aware of your surroundings. Even if you are not living the van life. When you walking in the streets, when you coming or going from your apartment or when you go shopping or even to the laundry. I'm always aware of my surroundings and whose around. Also definitely listen to your intuition, if you feel uncomfortable or get a feeling of dread in an area leave. Your life is worth it.
I was diagnosed with 2 forms of Cancer May of 2022 & while going thru Chemo on my hard days where I could barely move I would lay in bed & listen to the tv... My first episode was the one where yu cut off all of yor hair!!! I have been hooked ever since!!! Your voice has gotten me thru some hard days!!! Yu are one of the truest most genuinest people here on "The You Tube" 🤣😂 I kno its not grammatically correct but I mean it!!! I said all that to say... Thank yu for being such an amazing human & letting us ride shotgun while sharing yor life journey with us!! Its been amazing to watch & listen to!! Looking forward to all the future adventures!!!
@@margaretr5701 Thanks so much for the well wishes!!! Im not doing too great currently... having a lot of complications but im pushing thru & remaining optimistic & faithful!!! Thanks for checking in on me!!! Best wishes to yu as well!!!
@@BossMLRB I was hoping you'd fully recovered, please keep going, stay strong and you'll get there. I personally know it's a battle worth winning. More best wishes😊
You are in Detroit? I'm in Detroit. That's so sweet. You passed by my job. I hope you were able to see Campus Martius, its gorgeous or even up Woodward. What is the likelihood of you being in Detroit? Thanks for the kind shout-out to Detroit. A city with beautiful people. GOD Bless you Girl! Such a special video! 🏢♥️
Your video’s literally save my life. I’m a super introvert and iam now dealing with a lot of life struggles. Watching your videos at night calms me and helps me sleep. Even throughout the day they really help me get through. Thank you for being you.
I love watching your journey and I wish you the best.. glad that you know it isn't easy and you're learning each day and sharing your day by days.. you're in my Prayer's that you're safe 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I always wanted to do this like half the year, maybe one year.. thank you ❤️
@@chickenlady3155 when I traveled back to my roots in Ireland I was gratified to learn that students were required to learn the Irish language. Hoping the tradition continues. My grandparents spoke the native language.
I never heard of St Brigid’s Day . I wanna learn more about her I love to hear about strong women of different cultures and backgrounds. Happy St Brigid’s Day ❤
I love how honest you are and you do not make it seem like its all a beautiful thing and no problems occur. I do not know how i came across your channel but I have been enjoying it h ever since. Be safe and thank you for sharing your journey with us
"They added a gratuity of $3.96...but then I tipped $20." THIS IS JUST ONE OF THE MANY REASONS I FREAKING LOVE YOU, NOMADIC! I hope someone told Detroit House of Waffles about this amazing review! Thanks for taking us along. 🙏❤
I have absolutely no desire to ever live in a van, but I soooo enjoy watching you live your van life! I have no idea why. Anyway, I'm originally from NYC and I wholeheartedly agree with you in that being aware of your surroundings at all times is the most important part of staying safe. God bless and stay safe!
“The People Mover” is the rail service. I miss home but not that cold snow🥰. I love watching your show. I amazed at your comfort. I’m not sure if I cold do what you do! ❤❤❤❤Stay safe
The casinos have a lot of parking and it’s secured with cameras. As a pure Michigander I never tire of seeing beautiful downtown Detroit and all the memories of how it was blooming back in the day (grandparents era), so many good memories of going to the Tiger Stadium, Joe Louis Arena the Whitney the list goes on and on. We put Detroit on the map. We invented the modern age with the assembly line.
Worked at Wayne State for 20 years. The Cass Corridor and downtown are seriously coming back. 20 years ago I would have never stayed in the area Nomi was in overnight. Now- I’d join her!
You are right to always prioritize your safety first. It's not paranoid. You're smart actually unlike people who think nothing can ever happen to them. Take care
You have no idea how happy I am every time I see that you have a new video up. No matter what kind of day I've had or am having, you bring extra joy to it and I can't help but smile. You are blessed with the most calming and loving spirit. Thank you so much for taking us along on your journey. May Heaven and all its Angels continue watching over you and keeping you safe. 🙏🏽 And in the words of a very wise woman, "You are loved and you are valued". *PEACE* ✌🏽
The one thing I have learned is this. Whether you’re in the RV or in a car, most people really don’t care. If you’re not drawing attention, most people are doing their thing and don’t even notice unless someone knows about custom-made vans or class B RVs, they’re not really gonna question it or even care. That’s the cool part about it. I lived for eight months, moving between to Walmart parking lot and nobody said one word and I never had one problem. It was truly, amazing lol
In the neighborhood of Harlem in New York city, a young man in the 1930's named, Dickie Wells created chicken and waffles. He served the creative food concoction to feed the people coming from the after hours night clubs who weren't sure if they wanted breakfast or dinner.
Ty for showing that paying for a place isn't evil. Can give such peace of mind if you need a break from being stealthy. When I was doing car life, there were times (think being super sick) that I just wasn't up to moving everyday to a new spot, so yeah, I spent 4 nights in a hotel parking lot. Best $20 I ever spent. Bathroom, free wifi, and I could even hit the breakfast buffet in the morning at no extra charge.
Yes, my second cousin is doing it in her 60's for several years now. She mentioned a safety group. There are also a group of fly fisherman that are women. They have a nationwide safety check with their peeps. Eyes on eyes.
Do you have a P.O. Box? I’d like to send you some seasoning from Louisiana. It’s a Cajun seasoning blend called Tony Cachere’s. Mostly cayenne, paprika, I believe garlic powder and some other spices. Cajun seasoning in general is a STAPLE for any Louisiana cook and I think you’d enjoy it. Btw, you should DEFINITELY put New Orleans on your travel list. Girl you will not believe the food!
Old story: I submitted a job app to TC’s in 1984. They declined to further, but sent me a gift box of spices to thank me for my interest. What company does that? I’ll always remember them fondly.
Spent the first 30 years of my life living in and around Detroit, but relocated to Georgia almost 10 years ago. I used to visit a couple of times a year, but visits are fewer and farther between the last few years. No matter how long I've been in Georgia, Detroit is still home. ❤️
@ Tracy Di…Wow, our stories are very similar. I was born and raised in Detroit, and have now been living in Georgia for the last 12 yrs or so. I love and miss it often, and was hoping that the I.N would feature it on one of her episodes, since she lives in Michigan, and she did..🤗🤗.
Let me know if you ever want to camp in Detroit in a residential neighborhood. The street parking in front of and around my childhood home is usually wide open and our next-door neighbor still lives there after all this time so I can always give her a heads up that you'd be parking out front. It might even be possible to park in her driveway.
As soon as you said you’re getting more shrimp, I out loud said to your video, “Don’t forget the butter!” Thanks for sharing your journey. You’re fun & funny, especially when you take a bite of food you really enjoy 😊
You have risen quickly in your subs. And I can see why.. You seem very real. Very honest. Showing your reality living as a nomadic person. Thanks for taking us along for your adventures😊😀!
Thank you for your kind words about Detroit, I lived there for 57 years before I retired and moved west. I so glad you enjoyed your stay and was safe. Detroit is a wonderful place. Be well
Have you thought about putting cameras outside the van if it doesn’t have them already? Another option to use for security like one would a house/apartment.
When i was a truck driver i loved to get loads headed to Detroit because i can also tell you that yes Detroit Michigan does have the BEST FOOD Ever & you'll Definitely want to try other restaurants in Detroit also because the food there is Absolutely off the chain.
I'm so glad I found your channel. Your vanlife vlogs are the only ones I can actually sit and watch through in its entirety. Youre a breath of fresh air in the youtube world, authenticity and intelligence at its finest! Thanks for taking us with you! I hope you find your contentment! Safe travels!
I love Detroit. Detroit has pockets. I don't want to reveal, where I stay at all night. But I'm definitely in the safety part of Detroit. The simplicity of being in my van. 🥰
@@Ohiogirl419 I wish, I knew how to do that without divulging my true identity. Detroit have pockets. There are some areas, you don't want to be in. Poverty make some people do desperate things.
Not sure why I am so drawn to see what you are up to...but I am! I think it's because you are just so real and so kind. Thank you for sharing your journey! I usually plan my meal while I watch your video. Stay safe and can't wait to see your future travels!
You made my day with all the excitement you expressed with the Detroit Chicken & Waffle breakfast. It looked so good, made me almost to kick my pescatarian lifestyle.
Oh my God! You were in my neck of the woods. If I knew I would have totally showed you around and took you out to eat. Even though I'm in the suburbs you would have definitely had a place to stay! Hope you enjoyed our great city!🥰
If you want to avoid cold weather. Sedona, Arizona has camping areas (no noise) for one month. Very close to downtown. Beautiful landscape for long walks, hiking etc. art galleries. Nice shops, coffe and Restaurants. Weather is very good.
Downtown is probably the safest place to stay in Detroit. But just like she mentions, you have to be aware of your surroundings no matter where you are. Even the best cities have crime.
@@sheldoncooper6181 It is so annoying because so many people don’t understand this. It really is safer downtown and I see so many comments about people being scared that have probably never even been to Detroit. It’s exhausting
Hello Miss Nomad! I love, love, love your latest recipe. Since I love 🔥 food, I'm going to look for the chilli infused olive oil, so thanks for the tip! Be safe sweetheart and please know we are constantly waiting for your video updates. Stay safe, continue to be adventurous and we'll be along for the ride! 💜 PS, Never apologize for the passion you have for sharing your safety tips! Paranoid? Certainly NOT!!! We want you Safe!😘
I really admire planning and preparation. I also suspect that your military training enhanced your expertise in awareness. I know so many people who really lack any sense of self awareness but that’s another story. Safe travels! And that chicken! Looks so good.
I'm new to this channel and found myself subscribing after like 3 videos, there is something very calming about them!! Its beautiful, thank you for sharing with us, peace and blessing to you!
Thank you for documenting and sharing your journey. I feel like I'm riding along in the passenger seat with you. You have been a GIFT. You're valued more than you know.
Oh my gosh! You are so fun 😂 I’m a Detroit suburbanite and I definitely want to check out that restaurant. I was drooling watching you eat that chicken. Born and raised in MI so it saddens me you want to leave but adventure is calling you, I get it. So I’ll keep watching and see where you land. Safe journey.
I enjoy your videos so much. I have spent the last five days up around the clock with my elderly mom who has dementia and she couldn’t sleep. Been a long five days and nights and this video was like a breath of fresh air just like all your videos. I Enjoy them! Thank you.
@CCMCCM. Hi stay strong I understand what are going thru with your Mom. God bless you for taking care of her. If you don't mind what state are you in? There is a lot of help out there.
@Wanda George . It's one of the most rewarding, stressful, beautiful, heartbreaking, life-changing things to do taking care of a loved one with Dementia. I am in Florida there is a lot of help in every state. Let me know if you need the info.
@@2525besty I’m in California. I enjoy her videos because of her calm demeanor and travel adventures! As a caregiver, our days are long and hectic. It’s nice to do a little traveling with her. I have to sleep with my mom because she often wakes up scared. I won’t get to do any traveling until this assignment is done. It’s nice to know there are others sharing this caregivers experience. Yes, you definitely have to make sure whoever’s in a lot runs a lot. There’s a lot of scammers in the parking lots down there that are not the owners at all.
Girl, I’m definitely not gonna be able to do van life but I watch several van lifers and you are one of my favorites!!! I enjoy watching you cook and listening to all your ups and downs! Hugs and prayers for health and safety ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
NI I so love Detroit. My boyfriend lived and died there at your age. Cancer claimed him. We visited Canada daily or just whenever. It is so beautiful there. Thanks I will go back this spring. I vow during my van life 6 month thing. I loved the Motown visit. Oh my God what memories you reminded me of. God I love your videos. Thanks for sowing me how to park safely.
People in this world could take lessons from you about speaking and showing the truth. I wish that van life had been as easy to get in when I was a travel nurse. What fun I would have had up and done the west coast.
When I was young I had always thought when I retired I would love to have a van or an RV and travel and see things unfortunately my health has not allowed this so I just want to let you know I am so enjoying watching your RU-vid videos with you in a van doing what I thought I would like to do I can hardly wait until you do some more travelling take care of yourself be safe and have lots of fun while you’re young thanks for the videos
You might like the Indiana Dunes beach region. Also if you go to Northern Indiana the Amish village of Shipshewanna is very unique and charming. They have cabins and a RV hookup place just North of the village. Great home cooking at buffet at the Blue Gate Restaurant and hotel. A nice village to visit. They also have theater music concerts and an Amish theater. Very unique quiet place.
My hometown!!❤ It did my heart good to see a little bit of downtown. It made me a little homesick. I haven't been back in a while, but Detroit will always be home.
For real tho, you can't beat $10 a night compared to a hotel!! You're very wise and such a good commentator on this life, I'm learning so much from you, thank you! FWIW, I LOVE hanging out in casinos and catching a show and enjoying the buffet - there's always great food for a bargain in casinos! Safe travels & mercies on your journey Nomi!!
You do not need to apologize for wanting to be safe and let others who are thinking about doing what you do. I have so much respect for you! I love your videos! Keep doing you 😊
I’m so intrigued by you and what you have accomplished in these last 7 months. I love watching your videos so keep them coming. Thank you for being so honest. Safe travels
I enjoy watching your videos & it's even more adventurous now that you are finally doing some traveling, this is so Kool.. Thanks for sharing your life with us.. Stay safe & Stay warm💜❤️💜
You've inspired me to start fasting again. I just have to determine what works for me. I am also a loner - and love my own company. I WFH and am a total homebody. So, I only enjoy watching van life - not one of things I inspire to try. Thank you for sharing a bit of your day with us too. I know I enjoy it immensely. Stay safe.
Security is so important and I appreciate you reminding us. I live in my stationary RV. Outside the campground are some sketchy people. My safety is always a top priority. I too love to cook at home so learning what cook is a new ballgame. Rarely do I eat out maybe carry out added to whatever I cook. I should just go eat alone. The experience makes you appreciate the opportunity. I absolutely love you sharing this journey. And always that first bite!
This was such an awesome, open, transparent video, I thoroughly enjoyed it fam! Thank you for your honesty, we continue to pray for your safety on your journey. 🙏💕
I love your vids, And having moved from my home in SE Michigan to Oklahoma I love seeing familiar sights. Please, one thing before you leave Mich will you please make a coney run? And eat one for me, with mustard and extra onions lol! You can't get a real coney outside of Michigan.
In texas they don't know what real ethnic foods are, they only know barbecu, fried food, I miss all the authentic ethic foods. They don't know what real unfrozen fish is also.
Hello dear! First, Thank you for always taking us on your amazing journeys! This is great, and you are very entertaining! Also, just want you to know that, recently, I've had a rough week...getting better as of today, so, watching your videos comforts me when I need the positive energy. 😊 I hope you know how incredibly special you are to your fam! Please keep up the great content! 👍 You rock!!
I ❤ Detroit especially downtown!! Thanks for the sight see. When you pulled off and saw that chair laying there and thought it was a setup I burst out laughing 😆😆. Your videos are so bomb. Peace & Blessings to you 🙏🏾☺️.
I love the nightlife in Detroit. I wish you would write a cookbook, your meals always looks so delicious. I like that you are showing your audience new place to stay that are safe & a little out of the box. Stay safe ~Sabrina ~
Hi, Happy brand new Wednesday. You are not paranoid I live in a home and I look out my window before I go outside to make sure nobody's on my porch or in my yard I'm always careful☮️🙏❤️
I’m a fairly new Subscriber and I have been binge watching all your videos.. I am so glad I found your channel. You have helped calm my anxiety and PTSD. Thank you 🙏 and can’t wait to see more of your beautiful journey
Normally I never comment on any channels but I felt comfortable enough to find the words. One episode where you were cooking Tuna and Rice. Something that my Grandma would cook. But the ingredients and the way it's cooked is a little different. Way before the word introvert. There was shy or antisocial able. Either way we've come along way. Glad to see how you're navigating the path to your journey. I'm from Michigan. And I was shocked that RV life is limiting/restricted here. I travel throughout Michigan/OH/IN mainly with the Holistic Shows. If you like to attend a show before you leave Michigan? Please reach out and let me know. May you continue to follow your path. Enjoy your journey. No matter how much it'll push/pull you.
Preach sister! I love how you take advantage of each teachable moment. I have learned so much and I'm squirrelling everything away for when I make my move. And that meal looked fantastic. Thank you for sharing. 🐢
Thanks so much for sharing your day with me. I so appreciate you. An I haven't been to Detroit house of pancakes. Or the casino. Thanks to you me an my husband will be heading to Detroit for the weekend. Gurl you have a amazing day. Everyone watching have a amazing day as well. Love you nomadic
I think a lot of your skills come from your military experience, good that you are sharing all this and making people aware of what they should be aware of that they may not have even considered.
I've been following you on RU-vid through my TV for a while. I had to log on to comment on the Detroit video. I enjoy playing the guessing game of the areas that I believe you may be in (just to see what I recognize). It's so many places I could recommend to stay in or near the city... the casinos parking decks are free and pretty safe with common sense. Thank you for showcasing the city in a good light. I can't wait to watch what's best for you and your journey ❤️ If you need a safe place to park outside the city please let me know. I have a large drive way. Wishing you the best on your journey
