Don't be afraid of squirrels! They're docile creatures. I have one that comes every day. I give it a cookie or some peanuts. Takes it right out of my hand. Brought its babies to me too. They're sweet animals. Lots of people hate them I do not!
I love them too. I used to have one that would come to my patio door everyday. I gave him peanuts also. One day when my Mom was visiting (I’d just had my son), I’d come back from shopping and she said your friend came by while you were out😂. I love them!
Yeah worry about the seagulls. They are aggressive like nobody's business. And if you're near an ocean a squirrel is safe due to the in,y threat would be hydrophobia and well, the Pacific Ocean is pretty hydrated.

PS. Yes we see dolphins, seals, sea lions, and gray whales in the Pacific Ocean from the shore. Also you can camp overnight on specific areas of the 1. If there is no sign you can stay overnight!!! I hope you enjoy your time here!
Hey Mandy! I’m a Jersey girl born and raised and we see a variety of things in our waters too! (A variety of trash☹️) The last time I went to the beach in Jersey I walked through the sand dodging broken glass and cans just to get to the waters edge and have a, how do I say this….🤔🤔🤔….a very used lady product roll out of the sea foam 😵😵😵 Needless to say, I’m so jealous of you right now😂😂😂🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
Nomi: THANK YOU for telling people to not screw up the parking situation for everyone! Many of the Walmart parking in SoCal is now off limits because of the crazy people who treat it like a campgrounds or leave their trash and garbage all over the place. Glad you’ve been enjoying our beaches. All along Hwy 1 is beautiful. Wish I knew you were coming and we would have meant you for a meal along your route. Remember out here you can park overnight in most casino lots, just patron the places with a breakfast or meal. If you get down near Riverside Chino Corona area, PM me- we can get you into the park we frequently stay.
If you've actually lived in Cali, you would know that most of those beaches have horrible water quality. Only certain cities in Cali have good beaches. San Diego being one of them.
When you left that door open to settle on the beach I said that squirrel is going to jump in the van and be waiting for another cookie or try to find it for himself. So glad that didn’t happen. 😊
Hey Nomi, you can camp on the beaches on base, Camp Pendleton. They have two campgrounds on the beach. Del Mar Beach (21 area) and San Onefre (51 area). You can camp there because you are a Veteran.

It usually stays cool, low to mid 70s most of the morning to early afternoon. Sometimes it's a bit foggy, but I loved it! Hope you enjoy your stay. Can't wait to see where you go. PCH (Highway 1) has awesome sights.

I'm from the East coast, but have lived in Southern California for many years now. Driving along the Pacific Coast Highway is incredible & the rugged coastline of Central & NorCal is a small piece of heaven. Look forward to seeing what you get into. Enjoy!
We have alot of squirrels here to. Be careful leaving your door open,they will hop in. They come on our balconies and people sometimes have to call help to get them off.

Your in my area, that’s the beach I go to. There is camping there that homeless use under the overpass. Other than that it’s high priced spots if they are vacant. The dolphins come down the coast am and return north pm. I have my rig but busy taking care of my dad at the moment. Hope to travel the US with my spouse when we get the time. I grew up in Santa Maria, CA. Lived for a year in the LA area ( my Dad was recalled into USAF during the Cuban Missile Crisis). Then in 1989, my daughter and I lived in the San Francisco area. We were there when the big earthquake hit. Maybe you can go up the coast on Highway One. It is beautiful. Always wanted to visit Astoria ( where Goonies was supposed to take place). Enjoy. California isn’t so hospitable to boondockers, so when you get tired of the nights head north along the coast to Oregon.the beaches are even more beautiful and you’ll see whales and sea lions off the coast. Enjoy! Safe travels
That looked like an orca! You look so happy and healthy in CA. I couldn’t handle the altitude in CO either! Spent a week vaca and spent most of it in bed feeling like the world was flipped upside down….but it’s beautiful there….just need an oxygen tank to lug around 😉

Great view! My sister and I were in California in May and it was cold at night! Love your travels! Because of your videos, my husband and I decided to go to Florida on vacation. We went down the East coast, to Key West, and now back up the West coast. We’ll be home in Texas tomorrow. Sure am going to miss our fun!
Down in the San Diego area many people feed the squirrels and once you feed one, they all come! Cute but I worry about how much junk they’re eating. Enjoy our beautiful state. Beaches, mountains, forests and deserts. We’ve got it all!

OMG, visited CA once Monterey & Carmel by the Sea was great, Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park (redwoods) & McWay Falls (one of only 2 tide falls here) is gorgeous! My dad would bring his binoculars and enjoy the sea life! Fresh seafood all along the coast, wonderful marine life, ample hiking trails. So excited for your adventures! 😃
