I'm a life long NJ resident who grew up and still live within 15 minutes of Morristown in nearby Randolph. I also work in the heart of Morristown. For someone who wants to eventually leave NJ because of costs and weather, I do have to say that out of all the areas to live in NJ, Morristown is my favorite. I absolutely LOVE this area (Morris County in general) because of more spacious, country living with high end restaurants and amenities, and would tell anyone thinking about moving to this state, Morristown and any of the surrounding towns are the best and some of the wealthiest in the US! Does come at a price but if you're willing to pay and can, it's worth it. Nice post.

And spend your life in a car - yeay! I also grew up and lived there (Morristown, Randolph, Mendham, Chester) till I was about 25 and then moved to Europe more than 15 years ago, where I actually talk and interact with people and the environment where I live in on account of cycling and walking everywhere, or else taking the street tram or train. I admit some nostalgia for it from time to time, but in reality that car culture is a killer to mind, body and spirit. At least it was for me who was driving 25,000 miles per year around NJ and NYC. And having no real town center besides Morristown in which to socialize was way too one dimensional for me.
@@Youve_GotABeard Thanks for sharing your experience in Morris County. Where do you live now that you can ride your bike and walk everywhere? My wife lived in Copenhagen and said they used bikes as their main source of transportation. Sounds right up my ally!
@@Youve_GotABeard I agree... But for now I'm in Jersey. I went to Germany to the black Forest area where my friend lives, and everyone walked or rode their bikes from town to town. There were more bike routes than vehicle roads! It was awesome.
I grew up in Murray Hill that is about 5 miles from from Morristown. As a family we went to the National Park with Ford Mansion and Jockey Hollow numerous times. The area is rich in colonial and Revolutionary War history. It is sad that this legacy of George Washington and this history of our country is either forgotten or shunned.
I’m visiting while on a cross country road trip and what surprised me was encountering a number of homeless people who aren’t all there. One of them was shouting profanity at an empty pickup truck 😂 then proceeded to shout at an imaginary person. Felt like I was in California.
Well done Kevin. I grew up in Morristown and my parents are still there in the same house since 1976. Others will disagree with me but I feel the more recent construction of apartment buildings is an eyesore. They are ugly and too big … taking away from the charm.

@@liveinjersey Kevin, the ghettos and riots of the 60’s spread like cancer. Danville was country back then, Sparta wilderness! But the high taxes and socialist philosophy pushed me out. Still visit Jersey Shore, Old Tappan and Morristown when I need a break!

I actually grew up in Morristown and moved to Hackettstown in 2000. I lived next door to your uncle 😊. I moved back to Morristown 5 years ago and I love it. Great video though I agree with the cons but it’s worth it

Long time local here, Morristown longtimers do not like the downtown at all, here. It basically has made Morristown into this hybrid Jersey City/Montclair place, filled with no local friendly places. Everything here is now only expensive places for out of towners/tourists. None of us locals wanted the downtown to become what it is now, too much traffic and no offense to anyone that travels to visit and go to these places, but none of us want the unwanted out of town people invading our town, driving up crime rates and putting a burden on our police force, we'd ask you all to not come to our town and drive up our taxes and cost of living and place these burdens on our police force with all the problems that come with Morristown being a destination, you have Montclair, Hoboken for those kind of destinations, please go there and leave our town alone. I graduated Morristown High School within the last 4 years, and all of us MHS students would go to other towns to hang out, this town is a shell of it's former self and we all miss the old Morristown. So, to anyone thinking of moving to Morristown, think twice before going to the downtown.

Morris Township and Morristown are NOT the same town! The only thing they share is a zip code. Morris Township was incorporated as a town long before Morristown was. Please take out some history books and learn about the two towns and the surrounding towns.
