Lived in Marlborough for 25+ years. If you were going to be living in Rai Valley during winter, you would definitely want the warmest clothes you could get.
What an amazing place everything is just a walk or a short drive to hidden treasures, lol the girls "Eww she's eating it" 😂pest control at work and the cows are saying "moooove🐄 that fence" 😂 I love coming on your adventures 👏🏾fantastic video.
I used to live on a farm in a valley like that.. It's cooler in the valley then in the open plains because the mountains cut down your sunshine time one or two hours a day..

I'm stoked the whānau are having unique experiences money won't buy. Working and living on a farm is a skill set few will learn. Bare feet too! That's really living the life. Wow. Subtle way of telling your neighbours to leave. Working farm dog doing a good job. Possum meat to supplement that yuk kibble. Excellent share. Thank you.
Those were Muscovy Ducks not Geese. Sometimes it seems that every other garden in NZ has a lemon tree. Citrus do need a little chilling, only most don't like frost much. NZ is mostly warm-temperate so we can grow quite a few sub-tropicals but not to commercial quality. Good enough for the home garden. I hope you got to Pelorus Bridge about 10kms away, it's quite pretty with the Beech forest.
Not that far from here, (Nelson Lakes) I've been through the Rai valley a number of times, take a dinghy out in the sounds which isn't far from there and catch some blue cod. delish!
When Chloe said "They've got two rabbits in there" I knew exactly why she was barefoot. The absolute innocence and joy in her voice said she does not feel the cold.
Theres nothing like waking up in a countryside setting in NZ on a sunny winters morning its seems to revitalise the spirit. Also going barefoot puts us back back in contact with the earths vibrations, we werent meant to wear shoes as a species its good to let the feat breathe, also loved the honesty box for the wild honey, see less and less honesty boxes these days. Still looking forward to your "announcement" thats meant to be coming 😉
Next time, go off track and into some bush. Especially if you get another farm house like the Rai! NZ is super safe, the most dangerous thing in the bush is deer and pigs! Which usually run away when they hear humans.

Keep an eye out for feijoa fruit trees on your travels. The trees come into fruition around late Autumn/early winter if I remember rightly. My all time favourite. (superripe=supers weet)

Out of all your video's that iv'e watched when iv'e had the chance, i can honestly say that this was my favourite. - everything about it i enjoyed - from the first person up in the morning (peaceful time alone) feeding the animal's moment.....to the dog (after a bath) killing a possum.....even the funny neighbour story i enjoyed - anyway, "I have to go"....and i mean i really do have to go (Lol).

Hi I know Rai valley , my dad has a holiday home in the Pelourous sounds, we take a road out of Rai valley to get there . The Pelourous river is near and they filmed the scene with the barrels going down the river there in the Hobbit :) my dad lives in Tahunanui beach too.At the moment in February its summer and nice and warm

I can live like a normal person and work I have no problem but I have to take my medicine constantly without taking medicine I have epilepsy in my sleep which means I have a seizure for a few seconds now can I go to New Zealand with this problem What? And will they allow me to stay in New Zealand after I find out about my problem at New Zealand Medical? Please let me know I would be benefitted. Thank you
Possum must have been sick. They do not come out in daylight normally. Would not have been chasing her, more like scurrying for cover, scared. They are quite blind.

Though I would like to head back to America or to Europe for better living environment. See how it goes! I reckon there are plenty of space in Canada, just like New Zealand
i know from experience that leaving NZ will take its toll, cloe will miss the organic food and less chemicals in other products ,,the other girls will miss their friends they have made, you your self and your hubby will miss the security and the freedom basically 1 year in NZ has been worse than covid kia kaha
Yes! We have fallen in love with the country and the people here ♥️ We are staying at a home now with all kinds of fruit trees in the garden. 🍎🍑🍊🍋🫒🍇🍅 and more ... Amazing!
