I don’t know if you’ve already taken care of this or not, when I used to do a lot of cycling, I always had one extra tire because they fold up, at least one tube and the tube repair kit and the appropriate tools for the bike that I was riding at the time. If your rides are taking you more than a few hundred feet away from your van, you need to be able to fix your bike in the field.
Put tire slime in your tires and carry a small hand pump with you on rides. The slime will instantly plug minor punctures as they happen and if you lost some air the pump will handle that. ✌️
I never carried spare tubes for years...decided I had risked it long enough and started carrying spares/tools to change. Lo and behold I had a flat right after carrying them. Thankfully I was then self sufficient...plus it only takes minutes to change a tube out. 🤗 PS...VERY glad to see you two wearing helmets...❤...that is SO important! We lived right on the coast, North of San Diego for a couple years...I agree about the (mostly) great people, climate and vibe of the area. We enjoyed our time there...it was just too populated for us, being Montanans...😂

I can’t believe that the bicycle guy didn’t help for just a flat no wonder he is closing for good. I just found you guys because I like the ride you did I have done it before with friends and groups. I bring everything to fix the bikes so I don’t have to worry about getting stuck. Glad you got back okay do more exploring with the bikes. Thank you for the video

Next time you're in SD avoid the south bay beaches. They are the most polluted waters on the West coast of the USA. Thanks to Tijuana. The city South of the border has no working sewer system and it is a major problem. So go a little further North of that area.
Glad you enjoyed my city! Sorry about the unexpected detour, lucky they could fix it quickly! Silver Strand is so close to the border that there are sometimes sewage spills from the Tijuana River unfortunately so they do test frequently.. also, you may not have known but we are on a cold water current, the water temperature in the winter averages about 64°and jumping in would be quite a shock if you weren't prepared for that 😂. I lived in San Diego for a year and a half, could not handle all the pleasant weather, I so missed our vibrant climate. 70° and grey blue skys every day gets old in five hundred days of sameness. We have gotten 2 ft of snow in last 2 days. ☃️ Travel happy Pancakers and avoid Imperial Beach after dark. Carry a pump, patch and tube set if possible. 😊

I did that for awhile. It gets cold. Nights on the beach were always interesting. One night in ...I guess in National city, I awoke to look through my windshield and see the my hood was up . Lifting the door handle(forgetting it was locked) I spooked them. Hood slammed shut and they were gone in as flash. They had disconnected my battery cables, but ran before they could grab it. I was lucky.
Life is an adventure. You can try to fight it, or learn to go with the flow. Many times, things turn out for the best. Keep traveling. I'm onboard for the ride 😎

I have the Lectric XP 2.0 and changing that back tire even if you have a spare tube and tool kit is annoying AF. Cool that you found a shop to do it in around an hour. You might want to try putting Slime in the tires. I got a pretty decent nail in my tire a few weeks ago and the slime eventually sealed it up and it's held a steady 30psi since. (I know I should put the new tube in, but like I said, changing the rear tire in an ebike is annoying.)
When I was a kid I got a flat on my bike while in town, the Mobile station charged me .25 cents to take the rear tire off, patch the tube and send me on my way.
I'm with you natalie, in that I cannot handle being in the high traffic areas and on interstates. I was in a very bad wreck when I was young and it definitely ruined my love of highway traveling. I love the new vining lights in your van. Looks very warm and inviting 🎉❤

Hey Jimmy and Natalie! I know you have bike helmets already, but I just had to share. My hubby and I enjoy riding our Lectrics, too… but found that it was often hard to ride next to each other. We ended up getting Bluetooth helmets that allow us to talk, even if we’re blocks away from each other. They’re kinda spendy (about $150 each), but I can wholeheartedly say the investment is worth it. So much safer, and actually so much more enjoyable when riding. And there’s the added benefit that when I’m lagging behind my hubs and he’s rolling by a ground of people, he looks like a weirdo talking to himself, lol 🤪 We got Sena M1 about 2 years ago… still work like a charm.
Well that is awesome! Stinks about the flat....note to Jimmy and Natalie....carry spare tubes when biking...haha. Not surprising you ran into good people. How can you not be happy with the San Diego weather. I've only been there once. Drove down from Sacramento in my convertible for a Padres game at Petco Park. It was a fun weekend for sure and like yourselves, I ran into lots of great people too!
The tractors on the beach because every winter they build a wall of sand to stop extreme tides from flooding parking lots! SD local here born n raised !
Glad you guys went to SD. I was born and raised there. Now I live in the San Francisco bay area. My whole family lives in San Diego so I go down there 2 to 3 times a year.

You are seasoned travellers with wonderful attitudes. That was the same impression we had when we visited San Diego the people were friendly and as a land locked person fell in love with their beaches . Kudos to the 2nd bike shop.
My favorite two people and you are or were pretty close to where I live Loved the video I have one mountain bike that's pedal powered and I have one with a gas engine I will check out the electric bikes I mean nothing wrong with having 3 bikes lol
That's why I have a back rack with tube repair and pump on board. A fanny pack w/ all that would be a help on those long rides or just carry a bike sized can of flat repair.
Hope you got to do a bunch of other stuff in San Diego. I spent 3 days there this past August and did a LOT. Super walkable. My hotel was about 2 blocks from the Amtrak (Santa Fe) station. I didn’t know that when I got there. I accidentally walked from the hotel to the airport but had an amazing time on the waterfront. Humphreys On The Bay had a fantastic concert venue. Tons of museums around and the San Diego Zoo? Awesome! If you like sea lions, La Jolla was incredible. I really enjoyed your e-bike adventure. Glad things worked out overall.
Another great video! 😊 I lived in Pt. Mugu, CA, (north of Malibu) for 3 years, and San Diego is my favorite big city in California. The tour you gave us was very cool with mostly parts I had never seen before.
What an adventure. The ferry ride is now one of our todos. The San Diego Zoo, Sea Food at Anthony's Fish Grotto, and the Graphiti Art Park might just be worth making the trip down to visit San Diego. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Hi guys you were in my neck of the woods, imperial beach. The bike paths are all over the city but the best one is on the silver strand, the ocean breeze, no cars and a nice bike bath. You did not show Coronado, lots of things to see and do in Coronado.

Do you have matching bikes, matching tubes in the tires? I would carry one or two spares on the bike with the electric compressor you were using yes, it is a little weight but it’s worth it.
