Remastered clips of San Francisco, California, probably in the 1940s. First, we see people heading home after work. Next, we see sequences of distant recordings of some larger buildings. We also see the beach and several recordings in front of some restaurants.
Vivid History is dedicated to restoring old black and white footage and creating high-quality colorized versions to give you an authentic and vivid experience of the past.
The video has been restored and colorized using state-of-the-art machine learning methods.
The restoration steps included:
- motion stabilization
- noise reduction
- colorization
- frame interpolation for increased FPS
- upscaling to 4K
- adding ambient sound
Please subscribe to my channel, if you want to see more videos that bring you back in time and let you experience the past.

Are you gonna stare at people around you and start talking to them every single day of the year in the morning and in the evening coming back from work? Cause thats sounds weird to be honest and also repetitive and boring, sure you can have a small talk occasionally but i just want to get home so i mind my business 99,99% of the time like everybody else does except the usual creeps, homeless, drug addicts and more of this kind of people...

Well you know we failed society when you can't even afford to pay rent or feed yourself with a full time job, if it's been deemed "unskilled". These market sellers worked "unskilled" jobs and they earned enough for a home and to provide for their families and live comfortably. Now we think, being able to afford basic necessities is a luxury you have to compete for with increasingly demanding skills.

What kind of extra time did they have that we don't have? What have we replaced that free time with? To quote a song, "If we had the chance, would we do it all again?" 2) It's the absence of plastic sports shoes, t-shirts, and jeans that makes everybody look so elegant. I noticed around 8:00 with the beach scenes that hardly anyone is in the water. If I am correct, the average temp of the Pacific around San Fransisco is only around 60 degrees even in the middle of summer.

When we go to the beach here, it's mostly just the beach itself :P The water is largely left to surfers with a bit of experience.

Not every scene is shot in San Francisco. 0:00 That is definitely not the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Hahahahah! It's actually supposed to resemble the Golden Gate, not the Bay Bridge. Never been to Philly but I've been to SF many times. Also those buildings in the foreground, no way they're in San Fran. They're on the East Coast, no doubt about it!

Back then during the Great Depression and also during wartime, San Francisco reorganized its financial system in order to serve the public and due to the increased tax revenues it became rich enough to buy the Market Street Railway and absorb it into the city owned and operated Municipal Railway that ran the remaining trolley lines and cable car lines. 😊
