It's been one year since we moved from California to Seattle! We found our first apartment, I got a new job, we got a dog, and now we have a new home. I talk about why we chose Seattle, how we got here, my first time experiencing actual seasons (!), my cooking and baking adventures, our Manny boy adventures, and reminisce on some good ol' days :)

I grew up in Puget Sound area and have lived in Seattle for about 20 years. You fulfilled both my recommendations for people who want to relocate to Seattle. I always tell people to move here if: 1. You really love nature and hiking and want to spend your weekends in the mountains. 2. You are coupled and don't need to date. (or you're single and happy that way) For people who meet these recommendations, Seattle will feel like a great move. I'm actually trying to do the opposite and move to SoCal;)

@@ammanuelroberts5965 they have a term called the Seattle freeze & since it rains for half the year people usually stay home & read a book instead of going out to date. If you’re trying to date California is way better. I try to date in the summers cause in winters I’d rather stay a homebody or go back south to hometown California. This video clearly explained it at 5:28

@@ricecakeboii94 Seattle doesn’t rain as much as people think, but is often times overcast, putting people in gloomy moods. It’s not easy to date, but possible if you put yourself out there and take initiative.

I visited Seattle last year and fell in love. Moving to the PNW is such a huge dream of mine and watching your video made me tear up! Im moving to Seattle within about 6 months, and have been searching for videos just to learn more and see about other people's experiences there. This was really beautiful. Not only did you make me fall more in love with Seattle, but it felt like a vulnerable look inside your life before and now in the PNW. I’m also a southern california native, I made the move up to portland last spring and I really do love it!! the nature here in the PNW makes my heart complete, I relate to getting to fully experience the seasons like you mentioned🌿 I’m considering making the move up to seattle later this year and seeing you adopt your pup made me so happy bc that’s what I’m envisioning for myself once I’m there

Kudos on making the move to Seattle. I've been wanting to move there since 2010 but just been chicken on making such a big move from Arkansas. I was just up there this past week (1/26/21-1/31/21) and it was still such a blast being up in my favorite city even during these times. Glad the move worked out for you and your family.

Nice video, Kelly! I do have to say though, that as someone that lived in Portland for 15 years, the PNW doesn't get that cold. Coming from Southern California I can understand why you feel that way, but because of the Pacific Ocean the PNW has mild weather compared to the Midwest, especially around the Great Lakes, and also the NE, both of which get way colder. Not to mention some of the those places have snow on the ground 6 months out of the year. I'm in FL in the Tampa Bay area, & it rains twice as much here as it does in the PNW. It can drizzle for days sometimes or it can just be cloudy, but hopefully you'll get used to it & will start going places in the winter. Since there is so much to do in both Seattle & Portland people don't stay home all the time. Maybe next year the winter will be a little bit easier for you. Enjoy the beautiful summer up there! You cannot beat PNW summers once the weather does improve. :)

This is such an amazing video!! My husband and I have watched countless videos all on moving to Washington. Our minds are already set on moving but we like to watch them just incase we’re missing out on any cons that might come from it. Your story is beautiful and it’s sort of how we pictured ourselves too, so this video just confirmed the move lol. Of course here in Virginia we’re surrounded by family but we are looking forward to being on our own and finding our place and our ‘good old days’ - thank you for this video and I love how you organized everything and talked about the move to Seattle!

Wow this is so beautiful. I'm from NYC and I've been trying to move to the west coast for almost 3 years (basically trying to get a job over there). It was only this week that I explored the idea of moving to Seattle after applying to a job there, so now after watching your video, it makes me think about how beautiful it is over there !
