This made me kind of sad actually. The people are open and kind actually. Very accepting. Very open to people's rights and freedoms taking on the lead in many many ways. That's a huge reason people flock here...it's all about how you put yourself out there and how you treat people. Kindness attracts kindness. A smile goes a long way...I have never had issues with people socially and it's not an issue I hear of much at all amongst people here.

I've been living in Seattle for almost 1 year now. What she says is mostly true on almost all accounts. It doesn't rain here half as much as people think. When it does rain, it's more of a mist. If that isn't convincing enough, I've lived here for 1 year and still don't own and umbrella. I haven't found a huge need for it yet. It is very expensive to live here. Because of big tech companies attracting Engineers, all apartment complexes in the area are able to increase their rent because there's more people competing and plenty of people that can pay it. My Husband and I have about a 750-800 sq apartment and we pay about $2,300 a month. It's 1 bed/1 bath near Elliot Bay. It is beautiful here. Like, stunningly beautiful. The summers here are amazing. Very little rain, bright blue skies, virtually no wind, and 75 degrees. The hiking areas are amazing. During the winter time, orca's and sea lions come into the bay to place and you can watch. The Seattle freeze is REAL. People aren't mean. People are perfectly nice. But if you try to keep a conversation going with them, it can be difficult. I've lived in Chicago, Orlando, and Dallas. Seattle is, by far, the best place I've lived.

If you want the downtown experience, Virginia Mason isn't bad IMO (though I only know it as a patient). You could live anywhere near the downtown core and work there. Some people even live on Bainbridge Island and work there, but as someone who lived on BI for 14 plus years, I do NOT recommend that option! The traffic is hellacious. As Taylor says in the video, you cannot go by the mileage. And the traffic is terrible in the entire metro area, which stretches out a good one to two hour drive (or ferry and drive) in every direction. The rents are high pretty much everywhere in the entire metro area too. It's nuts! Having said that, I do like Seattle; but it has it's challenges!

My thoughts on the Seattle freeze... I really feel like Seattle is a city full of ambiverts, more so than any other city I've been too. People aren't unfriendly, they're just busy/minding their own business when they aren't specifically trying to be social. @chenanigans

Yes, like pulling teeth is the perfect analogy for how it is tryna make conversation with them. I've always said they are basically kinda socially retarded. And I mean that in the most direct sense of the word. Being from a southern state we learn social skills, friendly mannerisms, and hospitality, from a young age. Here they are a quite underdeveloped in that area, not a real part of their culture. Nice ppl (when they're not passive aggressive) but not the most friendly.

Wow the bellevue area is considered expensive. 2500 for a two bedroom is a typical price or even cheap compared to some luxury apartment complex in that area. *Paoline F* traffic didn't used to be bad back when Seattle people lived here. We cared about how our city looked and how it functioned then a whole load of transplants moved in and tore everything up. Back in the 90's downtown was way cooler than cool. Hardly any traffic downtown during the day. Transit had free electric busses that ran all day so that the ones who worked downtown could hop on and go to lunch and hop back to work again. Yes Seattle used to be way cooler than it is now. When I run for mayor in 2025 I hope to make Seattle Great again for everyone not just the ones making bank but the ones on SSI and low income also. Everyone should be able to enjoy what Seattle Has to offer not just the ones who can afford to pay for it. I want to close off the cit till we get adequate housing as well. Bring down the cost of living and also the cost of housing. Is that doable?
@jetcitysinatra7300

@@kristophersurbrook4001 Yes it does smell but it won't be like that if I can become Mayor in 2025. I want to fix the homelessness problem and drug problem. I plan on putting people to work cleaning up downtown Seattle. I want crews of people sweeping, power washing, picking up trash and so on. I want neighborhoods to work with Seattle to get their own clean up crews that would be on the City Payroll. There is a bunch of things I want to get done. It will be a hard start because the City Council has become lazy and content with how it operates. Seattle is way to beautiful to allow her to become another Detroit or Kansas City Mo.

Been here about 6 months and I’m already making arrangements to move out of Washington. It’s a good place to visit and see nature, absolutely terrible place to live. If you’re social, extroverted, don’t like people driving 20mph under the speed limit in the left lane. Like good costumer service at stores, bars, restaurants. Then do not move here. He said that he was always wet, but his legs had never been stronger, because of the hills. He also said that it was beautiful and he enjoys rain, so he usually didn’t mind it. He also mentioned that there was a big difference between in interacting with people from the different cities. In Texas we say hi to everyone and say yes mam and yes sir. He said he got a lot of interesting responses from those in Seattle, but it was still an amazing experience and he loved the people.

There is auto detailing, most office buildings with parking garages have a service in house or a provider a quick call away. Although, this is for office buildings that were in service before Amazon destroyed everything worth admiring about the city. Seattle doesn't tax them for their shit so there is no affordable housing, no drug outreach, nothing. "Living in Seattle" didn't become popular until the hipster trash made it have to be cool because they didn't want to be known for living in a shit hole destroyed by a Lex Luther clone. Anyone who ever lived in Seattle when it was a jewel of the Northwest has fled and not because it's like LA, it's like New York and all the trendy fuckers who came here in the last 10 years for tech work should move back where they came from and telecommute. Amazon *destroyed* this city, created the homeless problem and turned the city in into a shit hole. Anyone who thinks Seattle is awesome now is part of the problem and they should leave.

THE best part of the Seattle area is the spring time in my opinion. With the great balance between sun and rain, the plants bloom like crazy. I cant get enough of the cherry blossoms! That being said, I grew up in Seattle, but moved over the mountains to Ellensburg for college, and it has been hard to move back to Seattle because I miss having so much sunshine. The rain isn't that bad when you live here for a while. But if you are moving from somewhere much sunnier and warmer, it can be a hard transition.

We just finished our first apartment's lease and moved to a house for commute sake, and the house is $3500 a month??! I don't know what blows my mind more - that a house can cost that much, or that we managed to find good enough jobs in the city to afford it. But I LOVE Seattle so much. There are always things to do and see - there's beautiful nature, awesome skyscrapers, fun small and quirky events. Lots of cool futuristic services too thanks to all the tech companies. I’ve lived in Seattle for 11years and think the bus/transit system is amazing! The general opinion amongst people I know that do not ride transit think that it’s bad,. And I did too until I started using it. There are several types of public transportation in Seattle; Seattle metro, sound transit, and the light rail are the three main ones. Metro is local and will get you around the neighborhood. Sound transit gets you from city to city aka Seattle to Bellevue, Tacoma, Kent, Redmond,. And the light rail gets you from the university of Washington to caphill, downtown, south Seattle and the airport!! All using the same card with transfers working seamlessly between all three. I want to make a video on this so bad because I see it misrepresented often. Hope this helped someone

I moved to Seattle a little over a year ago. And I fell in love. Personally, I quite like the public transportation here. For the first 3 months of moving here I didn’t have a car. I travelled by bus, train, or the rail. I lived in First Hill at that time and travelled for work to Everett and Tacoma all by public transport. I loved living in first hill just cuz I love that I can simply walk to anywhere at any time. But it’s true that mileage means nothing. I hate the traffic and the parking situation!! There’s very very limited parking areas and the parking structures are expensive. Pretty much the only cons I’ve found so far. Anyway, I like it here. 😊 PS- the dating scene here can be sleezy. Haha. I would be in a club at Cap hill and men are pretty brazen regardless if the female is single or not. I met my bf in Seattle and we’ve gone clubbing together with our friends. Even if they see you with a guy, they still come up and dance with you and try to hit on you. Like they don’t care. I haven’t had that happen when I lived in SoCal, Vegas and in Asia. Idk if it was just random occurrences but I ended up hating going to clubs and bars here. Which is fine cuz I’m old already anyway 😂

Richard A. Castaneda public transport here is above ground, every county has its own public transport system and they aren’t set up to travel in between counties very well. And if to clarify how little the counties are geographixally. I live a 15 min drive north of Seattle, king county, without traffic and I am in a Snohomish county. So it’s definitely flawed and relatively inconvenient. We are absolutely incredibly progressive regarding reducing commuter traffic therefore public transport has been given a much larger budget and is significantly improving

I can contest to living in Washington, born and raised here! It’s amazing! I see why people transplant here, and I’m all for it. With all the different cultures and people, we have grown this area into something else. Like Taylor said, it’s expensive but worth it. You may have to put your dimes and dreams all in, but anyone can do it. The most beautiful part about not just Seattle is the amount of scenery. We are ocean to desert highlands in no more than a 5 hour road trip. If or when you visit Seattle, make sure to rent a car and hit the ferry rides west or catch the 90 towards the cascades, you will love it! 🖤🖤🖤

My daughter lives in Portland and I have been to Seattle exactly twice. Both times it rained for about 2 seconds, and was beautuful for the rest of the day! The first time, I visited, I caught a giant dead fish that one of the guys threw at me at the Pike Place Fish Market, went up in the Space Needle and had coffee at the original Starbuck's. The second time we went out on the pier at the Pike Place Market and visited the Gas Works Park which is the coolest park ever! I love Seattle!

I just came back from Seattle today and I live in Memphis...yes say what you want that my city is bad but we’re in the south and I’m not even going to lie the people in Seattle are NIIIIIIIIICE. I had a number of people wave to me and my friend, say hello to us first, smile and hold long conversations and lastly help us get around. I was only there 3 days but I am not a believer of the Seattle freeze.

As a 20-something Brit that's looking to emigrate to Washington in the next couple of years, this video could not have been more perfect! Thanks so much for the insight - I also loved the fact that you care just as much as we do about inner-city living ahah, give me a neighbourhood and a commute any day of the week.

The Seattle Freeze is real. I’m so glad you mentioned it. Lol

*TheEmpresJenn* I have only noticed the "Freeze" from transplants that do not want to be bothered. There are a ton of "Seattleites" that will give you stimulatingly good conversation and might even pay for your lunch to boot.

TheEmpressJenn if you are not an introverted is hard to adjust and make friends or even talk to people. People are afraid or not interested in making new friends. 😞

My brother drives bus for metro in Seattle so I always love watching your videos about the city cuz it makes me think of my big bro drivin around out there. I had thought about moving there for a long time but then my husband and I had our first baby and we decided to stay in little ol' Montana instead. Maybe someday.....

Being a Seattle native I noticed how over the years buildings kept going up and the cost of living rising with it. Soon there won't be any room and crowded as hell.

Come to the Eastern side of the state when you want some sunshine and friendly hello’s. We also say “Good Morning” to strangers all the time. I can show you where the grapes for wine and hops for beer are grown and some amazing farm to table restaurants are.

As much as I love being from Seattle and living in Washington my whole life I hate the price range in Seattle Renton and Federal way Literally over price for the old interior apartments Let’s not talk about the new development apartments 1,800 and up.. Hello from the other side Gig Harbor 👋🏻

1400 for a two bedroom is a bargain, NYC over 2 grand, at least.

afic10 😩 even in the “bad” areas like in the south bronx where I live.... the rent is ridiculous! A One bedroom run down with no hot water/heat in 20 degree weather a few times a month and rarely walking on clean hallway floors will cost you $2,000. Edit: only amenity is the front door key (better hope you catch the super to grab ur copy) I gotta level up man 🙏🏼

I've moved three times in the city of Seattle and I have no idea where the hell someone would find a $1,400, or even $1,600 two bedroom. I have a studio with a walk-in closet in an old building in a good area and my rent is $1450, includes utilities, 10th floor with a nice view. My friends all agree that it's a good deal.

The average two bedroom apartment in the Greenwood and Greenlake neighborhood with a washer/dryer in a newish building is between $2400 and $2700 a month with no included utilities. Parking is also becoming super rare. A lot of newly built buildings with studios don't offer parking at all for people renting a studio or open one bedroom floorplan

I lived in Upper QA actually right near the Canal! And our rent was $4400 and we had 7 people living with us in a 4 bedroom. - When looking for a single room apartment, it was averaging about $1600-1900! Very expensive. I now live in Kent but commute to Seattle for work! 😊 - Favorite Neighborhoods: - Queen Anne, Ballard, Wedgewood (family vibes) and Montlake! - Mercer Street is a tragedy 😂 hahaha mileage means nothing = best advice ever for living here.

I live in Nashville. Population has grown over 300% in two decades. This has impacted the cost of living immensely. A nice one bedroom apartment around 800 sq. ft near downtown will run you around $2000 a month, but that's on the low end. Even nicer buildings close to music row or Broadway, division st, the gulch, demonbreun will run you a LOT more. Some upwards of $4-5000 a month. It's often cheaper to just buy a house here than it is to rent an apartment.
