yea mate, there so many places still to go we've not even seen half of the South island... The places still to go are probably some of the best, quiet, and peaceful
We have loved following your adventures. We came for a holiday to the South Island with 5 young children in winter in a van 35 years ago. We loved it so much that we sold up in the North Island and moved down. We are still enjoying our caravan adventures and have never regretted our move.
Wow thats an impressive testament right there... Thanks for following along, what a great adventure we both have had... Looking forward to heading South again in the winter...
This was a wonderful review of your year's adventures. I can't believe you've been on the road for a year. Time flies! That's good advice about exploring a chunk of the country but it's hard for our overseas visitors to do it that way. After spending so much on airfares they feel compelled to cram in as much as possible, not realising that an hour or two's travel will get you into a completely different landscape. Aren't we Kiwis lucky to be able to take a few weeks at a time and enjoy staying in one place for a few nights. Thanks for a lovely video.
Yes we're lucky to have so much time. We meet some americans around queenstown area that told us they decided to spend their 2 weeks in Otago area rather than drive far and just take their time experiencing the area well.... , we thought that was very wise, because people camping next to us had done 10 days and drove the whole country in that time, and were so exhausted they couldn't even have a beer with us lol... the driven from queenstown to Milford sounds and back in a day, the next day they were booked into Greymouth the following day on the ferry... OMG
I still remember your hoar frost video which is when we starting watching and back tracked on your existing videos. You have definitely inspired us to pay more attention to areas that we have previously driven past. Tonight we are in a POP in Ashburton and at sundowners were talking about people who travel full time and your family was a topic of conversation as we both follow your channel. We were particularly impressed with your daughter's 12th birthday wish to do a tramp. We look forward to more adventures.
oh we drove past a lot of great places as well, sometimes they are the best though aye, quiet, peaceful your along. Glad you met some other followers lol, it's always a strange feeling for us, when people love watching our videos etc, we are just ordinary kiwis.
Mike this video has been well put together. Thanks for the memory of our 6 months down south last summer. Seeing the familiar place that we had visited also. Thanks. Now watching and planning our North Island ones. Brian and Anna from Kawerau. The place of free camping and free thermals pools and our wonderfully unique waterfall.
Ha ha... I love the south island the mountains are beautiful, and the seafood can't be matched... but North Island beaches and incredible... Stay tuned.
What a year! We are off south soon for eight weeks. We will be repeating some places but also going to new areas so we are very excited. Enjoy your time in the North Island.
Yea it's nice to hit up some fav spots. I think we'll do the same when we return in the winter, but we also have a few new places we'd like to venture, Piano flat, Mavora lakes etc.
❤❤ love it, would love to see another video on how you have found it financially- now being at it for a year, i loved your last update on it 😊 also love all the lake camp snipits, its a place we camp often!
We are all ears team... Should do another video but realistically we are spending on average around $700 - $800 a week, although we aren't trying to go cheap or anything we could reduce that cost... But we want to enjoy ourselves while we are travelling.
Thanks mate, love the main land, looking forward to some more exploring in the winter, need to spend some time Deep in Otago this winter, spent the whole winter in Canterbury and the westcoast last year.
What a fantastic year you've had. Don't know how you managed to condense it all into this 1 video, but you have done a brilliant job. NZ's tourist board should use it. Continue to travel safely.😊😊
Thanks so much, was a great year looking forward to heading back to the South Island in winter for some epic adventures for now, Northland is putting on some sunshine and beach days.
Yea mate having the time to wait out the weather or go somewhere unexpected really adds to the travel, we've loved the South Island, and we will love returning in a few months time when the snow starts to fall.
How does that make you feel watching that back. What an awesome highlights package. It’s like a diary. That vid could have been a trailer for a tourism company nicely edited great job Mike really enjoy your adventures.
What an amazing year yous have had, we have followed your travels throughout the year and you have highlighted some incredible places that I would like to visit some day soon, what an experience, thank you for sharing and looking forward to future episodes
Love these vdeos!! You do an amazing job with them! The south island is truly a magical place ❤ Hubby is from Nelson. We look forward to exploring the beautiful south island when we hot the road. Those hoar frost looking amazing!!! Im dreaming of snow and ice! Coming from the coromandel, its not something i have got to experience much
the south island is underrated in the winter... You only hear about the cold, which it is.... But it's often cold but still ie no wind... which is much better than the wind chill you get in the North Island... I'd rather take 0 degrees down south with snow capped mountains then 9 degrees up north with a wind chill of 3 degrees.
My husband and I have just found your amazing channel 😊😊. We're so happy to have watched your adventures on the West Coast. We have never cramped or caravanned, but have been so inspired us to go to Maui and hire a campervan and explore the Coast. We lived there for years farming and never knew these places existed 😢. Thanks to RU-vid or we would never have found you 😊❤️😊. We're in our 60s and this is going to give us so much joy 😊😊. Thank you. How do we get all the information in paper form to find all your spots?
Hey team, so glad you found us, there are so many beautiful places to park up all over the country... Unfortunately, we have no hand book, just our videos on offer for people to show case our beautiful country and to make memories as a family... We use a few apps on our phone to find places, like the NZMCA app, Camper mate and Wiki camps. They have most of the best spots to go to. The NZMCA I believe have a paper copy with their sites, but you do need to be a member to receive this, although it could be going electronic copy only now, i am not sure.
Oh thanks for following along. Theres a lot going on down there, North Island is equally beautiful but in a different way... But we'll be looking forward to heading back to the South Island in the winter, hope it's a cold one. .
Fantastic footage, you must have enjoyed putting this highlights reel together! So lucky to be in this amazing place in the world. What a fantastic year it's been.
We have 3 solar panels and batteries most things we're charging are low power... In the winter we couldn't get charged up so needed to purchase a generator to charge the batteries and devices, usually needed a top up even if it was a sunny day.
Awww mate thats so kind. There are quite a lot of good options for camping up these ways we are already North Of whangarei though capturing the nice long summer.
jump on the facebook adventures and you'll see where we are... Currently in Northland. Aucklands a hard area with a massive caravan attached I wouldn't exit the motorway
Hey Mate, hilux does a great job, can def be 2nd gear going up long hill climbs. Caravan is pretty heavy it's 2.7tonne dry weight, So I imagine everything is pretty close to the limits.
what a kind offer, Riley would totally love that... We are in the far North now, and will be up here for a couple of months then we'll head back South Island for winter... We lived in Waipukurau for 5 years so we know a lot of people in the area.
