Alex Sanchez earns $230,000 a year as an overhead lineman for the electric utility company of the Chicagoland area. In addition to his base salary of approximately $120,000 he earns a $10,000 annual bonus and is on track to earn over $200,000 with overtime included. He also has two side hustles to help pad his savings account and investment portfolio. Here's how Alex makes and spends his money.
This is the latest installment of Millennial Money, which profiles people across the U.S. and details how they earn and spend their money.
Read more about Alex's budget breakdown here: cnb.cx/2m2QVuS
A fan of the FIRE - financial independence, retire early - community, Alex would like to be a millionaire by 30. As a first-generation American he's planning to help his parents, who immigrated from Mexico and met in the West Chicago area, retire comfortably one day.
Sanchez says he grew up lower middle class, and while his parents provided everything he and his brother, Oscar, could need, they also often missed events, like his baseball games, because they had to work.
Investing and saving a significant portion of his income has become a way for Sanchez to ensure that he has the flexibility to choose how he spends his time. Should he have children of his own one day, he doesn't want to miss out on Little League for work. And he wants to make sure his parents aren't tied to their jobs forever.
Sanchez's income fluctuates depending on overtime hours and how much business his lawn-care company drums up. Since he dropped out of college he does not have student loans. The utility company he currently works for paid for his training as a lineman.
Sanchez owns three rental properties, including an apartment, a condo and a single-family house that he co-owns with his mother. The properties gross $3,825 per month, and he takes home $1,600 per month, after expenses like taxes and insurance. His mother makes $500 from the property she co-owns with him.

Brandon Reed It literally shows on bls.gov that lineman in Chicago are some of the highest paid in the nation and in the video comments it says that he ears $120k and a $10k/yr bonus INCLUDING Overtime very possible... and CNBC makes them prove their income with paystubs... One of the people that were on this were on The Grahm Stephan Show and confirmed that they do.

I recommend he invests in a future career. At 40 he's not gonna risk falling off a pole with a wife and kids at home. Definitely, not riding a lawnmower. A college degree might be a good investment. Singling out Gates, Dell and Zuckerberg as sans college successes leaves out 99% of the evidence.

@@youknowjuno145541 Hey there, I’m from Australia, and no there is no requirement for obtaining a GED or its equivalent. A prospective apprentice simply needs to find a job, sign up to an apprenticeship and enroll in trade school. Once qualified, there is an additional licensing course and further on the job experience to acquire and then you can apply for a contractors license and start your own business if you choose to. Trades can be quite lucrative and in my opinion beats the heck out of sitting behind a desk all day. Good luck 😊

@@victinyx6329 its the op for me. If it weren't for you annoying people spamming his name on these vids, I wouldn't know who the guy is. Im actually starting to think most of you "people" are acting bots. Must be a marketing tactic he's using to get views. No one is obsessed with someone that much that they spam their names on every single video lol

Isn't majority of Chicago residents low income and bad areas? So how much is the Chicago power company charging monthly fees to residents in order to pay this guy $250k/year?
@trendymadness5159
@trendymadness5159 3 года назад
Chicago's bad parts are like 3% of the whole area. It's one of the largest cities in the world, and a major city comparable to LA and NYC. It's GDP by itself is 618 billion, almost 1/20 of the US economy. It def has more than enough money to go around lol

And the American Dream of hard-work lives! *It's no surprise the only humble, smart, and financially educated person on this channel is a second-generation immigrant.* He *SAVES $7800 out of a $9,944* monthly budget? Absolutely amazing! Many Americans are in financial ruins because they live off credit cards and off trust funds since they don't know the value of a dollar.
