Very true! I'm ready @cnbc make it if you need millennial money from military let me know "Living on $80k A Year in San Diego, CA to Japan | Millennial Money"
@@markb.9910 I always had an income below $25k and believed $35k would have been so much easier. And while it has, I'm seeing more and more that it still isn't enough.* I have low debt (~$6k in student loans) compared to the average. But my basic expenses hardly allow to make extra payments while contributing to savings/emergency funds at the same time. But i guess that can also depend on where one lives 🤷🏽 *edited, mybad.
These 'normal' salaries are always a breath of fresh air. 50% of all full time workers in the US earned 34k or less (Bureau of Labour Statistics, 2018), yet most of these videos are people earning 200k, 100k, 500k, etc as if that was a typical wage. It is nice to have more regular people with regular incomes instead to show how things are for most.
@Luís Andrade Well, if you are going to attack the statistic you have to provide a source, otherwise it becomes an exercise in futility. I strongly suspect you looked mistakenly up household income instead, which is 62k (and it accounts for everyone in the household, which can be multiple people). As of 2019, the listed median personal income is 34k. Source: US Census Bureau (which is an official governmental body) www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/SEX255219
@Luís Andrade Average is not median. The difference is how it is calculated. If you have 10 people in a street and 1 earns 1 million and 9 earn 0 then the average would be 100k even if 90% of that street doesnt earn that. For salaries it is better to use use median wages, as high income earners cause severe discrepancies. Regarding the data, it is also important to provide sources. The 34k median wage for income is based on the Bureau of Labour Statistics. Also make sure that you are verifying personal income and not household income, as that includes everyone inside a house and that can be multiple workers at once.
@Luís Andrade How off I am? I? Smh, you still did not understand the concept of what a source is and why it is important to cite sources. I didn't say anything, it is the census website of the US government that did that. www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/SEX255219 www.census.gov If you have a problem with the data, go petition a letter against the employees which came up with that. It is not the discussion how much certain groups win, but what 50% of the population earns, that is everything, including non-graduate people and minimum job workers and low income workers as well. If you still think I am the one making these ups, then I am sorry but you don't understand what a source is or how very basic statistic analysis is done. I wish you everything well, but this discussion is no longer constructive.
@Luís Andrade "It's not like you cited any sources" Yeah man, besides being a hypocrite (because you actually did not) it seems you are also quite disrespectful with your alabama farm remarks. You sir, are very ignorant and I tried to maintain a reasonable conversation with you, of which you unfortunately don't seem able, willing or honest enough. Either way, I unironically wish you a nice day and recommend you to change your attitude, else you will never improve yourself. I am out.
well he just pays himself little. this doesn't equate to how he still has a business. this dude in reality is making $150k per year. he is just living poor. he can expense everything through the business.
I’m on the opposite side. I like watching those because that’s where I wanna be. I need to relate to similar people to feel better about myself. Just my 2 cent.
He learned a lot from his Momma. They are both to be respected for their entrepreneurial spirit. We need more people like this in our country. Well done sir.
THANK YOU CNBC MAKE IT for finally interviewing someone from our Latino Immigrant community! I love how realistic his expenses are and especially loved the laundry expense. So many of these videos showcase a lot of privilege just within the expenses a person has. The reality is that not many of us have in-home washers and dryers. Felicidades Alejandro por todo tus logros y por ser chamba! Sigue adelante siempre! 🇲🇽🇲🇽
Those other people don’t have privilege, they’ve just outworked you. No one’s stopping you from gaining the qualifications needed for a 6 figure job other than your victim mindset.
Alejandro awesome story u have brother keep up the good work and setting a great example within our community! I am on the other side of the Rockies here in Western Colorado reach out if u ever want to visit bro!
When he started to talk about his mother it felt VERY personal! I could relate 150% I also felt 'embarrassed' when my mom had side hustles and didn't click until I grew up and realize that it shaped me into the person I am. To see what a parent is willing to do to provide for their own and how important I meant to her.
Chen That sounds Chinese You must have the Kung flu Chinese virus like my great president quoted Make America great again bro I’m not being negative brother, just saying the facts.
Wow, I live in Denver and will definitely visit his poke business. I really like this web series and looking into different American lifestyles. this episode was especially endearing to me not only as a fellow Coloradoan but because of Alejandro's sincerity, drive, and love of his family. I like seeing more people in the 30-90k range because it is more relatable than the 200k+ lifestyles from other episodes.
🔥🔥🔥 This is a PERFECT example of what i think of when I hear American Dream! Immigrants who've come into this country and have created something that makes the lives of their community better. You can find a job in the majority of 1st world countries, but there's something about the US and having true control of your destiny thats makes this the greatest country on earth. As a fellow immigrant, now citizen, I truly hope this DACA situation gets sorted out. This is the type of person we need in this country. Stay strong brotha! 👌
If I lived in Denver, I would support his business. This is the kind of millennial money I wanna see. This guy deserves to be in the US, he has the right spirit.
I felt when he got emotional, speaking about his Mom and the lessons she taught him--you could tell he respects her greatly--he has a fire in his belly and is going to be a success no matter what he does--Good for him!
You live directly across the street from me. I have encountered you once, and you were super sweet. When I see you again, I will introduce myself, and I will also be sure to regularly patronize your food truck. The food looks amazing! You are crushing it, by the way.
UndocuHustle Show I’m Joy. My encounter with you was totally in passing. You were trying to park on 1*th, and I asked you if I needed to pull my car forward so that you could fit. 😊
Like someone else mentioned he already is, it’s just that right now he’s just paying himself a low salary and pushing the rest of the profits to his business
I just got really lucky lol you’re right that price is unheard of. Which is another reason why I’m able to have less worries compared to if I had a 1,300+ rent bill
@@alejandrofloresmunozllc hey man I just wanted to say your message is amazing and you are a great man keep up the work. When I go to Denver hopefully this winter I'll definitely stop by your restaurant :)
@@alejandrofloresmunozllc I salute you for all you have accomplished. I also came here illegally . Fortunately, I got my papers just in time to be able to go to college. Today I'm a teacher and a real estate investor.
Why we require individuals like this to stay in the country is rediculous. This young man is a example of what you can do in this country. He is a living example of a role model.
@Camaro 1968 but how do you tell the good from the bad with someone with his situation were he came here as a kid. We can't predict the route he would take in life anymore than people who come here legally or are born here. The constitution wasn't written to be Black and white but to be interpreted given different circumstances. Not saying it shouldn't be respected but your making it sound like it's more straight forward than it is.
@Camaro 1968 70% of Americans wouldn't be able to pass a citizenship test. Heck, the majority can't even say what the three branches of government are, or why the Civil War happened.
This has been my favorite episode to date! This just pulled at my heart strings. His work ethic and perseverance despite these difficulties is amazing!
I love this channel. I am also a DACA recipient living in Denver studio apartment making about 46k/year. I never thought i would see someone just like me in a video like this. ❤️ to top it all off I was also born i Guadalajara.
@@rekagran5663 Average rent in Denver is around $1670 for 800 sq/ft. Only 5% of rentals in Denver are between $700 and $1000. Alejandro's rent is fantastic.
I live in Denver and I’ve seen Alejandro in the news, on social media, and at marches. I’ve never gotten the opportunity to get to know him, but he is an inspiration to me nonetheless. I saw this video and immediately recognized him. Thanks for all you do Alejandro!
Give this man his residency. Brother, you are the American spirit in living color. I believe in you! Maybe I’ll stop by your poke business sometime when I’m in Denver. This was truly inspiring!
Kilo Byte Identifying differently than others does not mean being enemies with people who identify differently. People of different races, religion, etc. get along just fine all the time. Your belief that different ways of identifying means people will hate each other is false.
Kilo Byte yeah I’m sure people got along great before modern-day leftists came, like during The Crusades, slavery and Jim Crow era segregation [sarcasm].
@Kilo Byte Rioting has occured throughout human history. Ever heard of the Boston Tea Party? White shaming and reverse racism? Oh please ya big softy. Equality for others does not mean reverse racism. Accepting our privilege does not equate to shaming, it's reality. It will be okay. Stop feeling like a victim without cause.
I very much prefer these stories that cover people who make a middle class salary. It is far more relatable, far more like the realities that most people experience living in the US, etc.
Genuine question: is this considered a middle class salary? Like for example are you saying u enjoyed his story because he makes a middle Class salary or r u saying u would prefer to see someone who is a little higher in middle class?
@@crazyelf1 sub 50k in Denver is borderline low-income. It's one of the most expensive areas to live outside of LA/NYC. It's pretty on par with Seattle.
I live in Denver. This studio is either rent controlled or basically a room in someone’s house. The average rent for a studio teeters between $1200 & 1400. Rents have skyrocketed along with home prices even during COVID. The average price of a median home here has breached $600k. It’s insane and the value simply isn’t there. The majority of bars, clubs , restaurants etc are closed . It has exponentially increased the homeless population and encampments that are purged weekly. They just move from one church or park to the next. This guys very very fortunate to have found such reasonable housing esp in the area he was filming. (Capital hill) it used to be the inexpensive neighborhood- no longer To us it was about quality of life. Sold our Victorian in Cheesman. Built a brand new home 22 minutes s of the city, paid cash and live well. Count our blessings everyday but it’s heartbreaking to see what’s happened to a once vibrant city scene. Best to him
Robert I’ve just gotten lucky unlike some people who have generational wealth who are able to play with the real estate market. My story is very anecdotal and should not be compared to the access to capital or policies which have allowed many to own property here. Let’s not forget Colorado once belonged to my ppl
Man I tried to ignore this video but this week RU-vid put in in my face,I mistakenly clicked it and I'm glad I did. If many millenials in my country could watch such vids. All the best man,you doing what you can.
Your living the life bro. You inspire me to push myself more than I am, because I’m not and haven’t . I realize how fear has won due to the regular setbacks that are part of life and I stopped living. Your alive , your light is so bright even I couldn’t ignore . Your an inspiration. More stories like yours need to be shared because the dominate messages that have flooded my space with toxic bs are just so tired and old.
Wow!! He lives in my old apartment building, I lived in that building back in 1992-93 and my rent was only $235.00 a month. I'm surprised this building is still standing. Have faith Alejandro, your business will slowly come back.
❤️❤️❤️ so inspired by Alejandro and how he has learned from his mom and is now sharing his lessons learned here and on his podcast. I’ve organized with Alejandro and I see how willing he always is to share his experiences and wisdom with whoever wants to learn from him, especially immigrant and Latino youth. I know he will keep growing his business and giving back to his community as he does.
Exactly....not only is Alejandro’s story & salary more relatable, but he’s an Entrepreneur!!...that is the main difference between him and someone just making under 50K @ a 9-5
@@alejandrofloresmunozllc Yup just saw Graham's video response and he barely has any political views in his comments. He doesn't remark on the activist pin, how being an immigrant is a barrier for health insurance. And Graham's video totally cut out the entire DACA experience from the original video. Graham is a typical white male who feels awkward talking about political / immigration issues, because he thinks it'll lose YT viewers. Graham is all about money but doesn't speak much about marginalized communities and wealth is harder for those folks. We need to support and see more folks like Alejandro on these platforms to platform, boost and normalize these experiences.
So relatable to this episode, Especially when he said: Daca allowed him "to work anywhere, not just where he could work". I remember graduating high school pre-daca thinking to myself how all the effort I put into advanced classes was in vain. Because my only options after graduating HS were construction or in a restaurant being paid under the table (cash). I also empathize with Alejandro when he said he felt embarrassed about his mom’s work when he was younger. I felt the same way when I was younger, but now I’m proud of my parents for being able to make it despite all the barriers. I no longer feel ashamed for helping my parents sell tamales, clean homes, or handyman work.
Alejandro, you are an inspiration! Your hard work and determination is something I admire and a model that everyone can learn from! I myself am in the midst of my third year of a degree in business administration and i'm pondering if I need adegree to.meet my goals. Keep your eyes on the prize! I am proud of you, your story and your accomplishments!
I love the videos that showcase working class people and their approach to budgeting. I like how his perspective on his mom selling door to door changed as he got older. Hopefully this video will drive up his business sales📈
Nosotros luchamos! As a Mexican American female we work hard for what we want in life. Such as with my RU-vid channel and career path. I am proud of my Mexican roots and will always use that to further myself in life and in my career ❤️🇲🇽
A big shoutout to all my Hispanic peeps out there hustling! This young man exemplifies what hard work truly looks like. Loving his courageous and ambitious spirit. Nothing but the best for him and his business. 🙏🏻
I live in Denver and haven't heard of stoke poke! I'm fortunate enough to be in an industry here that allows me to have. 90k a year salary. And corona hasn't slowed us down at all. Im going to this spot as much as I can. I can relate to being an immigrant and not knowing English as your first language. Its not easy...i love this man's ambitious spirit. Keep hustling brother!
Felt this in my bones. Definitely visiting when I go to Denver this year! I felt the same way about my mom but now that I’m older the only thing I can see is that she’s a total BOSS! He’s 1000% gonna be rich one day. Hope it’s no where but up from here for him & the business. 🤍
I'm so glad this was included on this platform, finally someone relatable. I love the entrepreneurial spirit instilled and passed on fm his mom/family.
I really hate it when Spanish is DUMBED DOWN when translated to English. He used specific concise eloquent language, he used the word "trajectory" not "path", he said "to keep paying the bills and move forward" not "to keep paying the bills and keep carrying on" - in these and several instances they simplified his and his mother's very specific business acumen to laymen speak. For what? To make Mexican people sound less intelligent? This is CNBC, not Fox News.
I just moved from Denver and was making $54k a year. Denver is a place for chances and opportunity for most. There is Diversity compared to other cities but for me it wasn't as diverse as most people claim. I moved there in 2015, and it was expensive but other areas wasn't as bad. Now it's just ridiculous with the pricing of places to live, I call Denver " Condo City " they are building so many condos and apartments on top of one another. Charging high rent and most of these places stay empty or half empty for about a year or more. I am working in another city now my pay is same but my dollar goes far because cost of living is cheaper. Only thing I will miss about Colorado is its beautiful mountain view, that's it.
I really enjoyed this one! And appreciate that it showcased a little of the impact DACA had on his life. The ability to work where you want. Wishing him the best and can’t wait to visit his business the next time I’m in Denver.
I love these stories! How immigrants come to America and HUSTLE, making that American dream theirs through hard work and determination. I always get frustrated when I hear people born here complain about lack of opportunities. Sometimes we don't realize what we have in front of us! I also live in Denver and am super curious on where you can find a studio for under $1000/month!
You are so charismatic and passionate in how you articulate and present yourself. You are a beautiful soul and I’m amazed at what you’ve accomplished . The best is yet to come !
I’m happy y’all are starting to post videos of people making salaries on all ends of the spectrum. I find it far more interesting than just watching people that make six-figure salaries, as someone that is unlikely to make that much in my line of work ☺️
I don't know where he found a studio for $620 per month unless he splits it with someone. I live in the next town over and pay $1100 for 495sf. Nothing special about my apartment.
Loved everything about this episode. He doesn't have it all together but he is grinding his butt off and has all the tools/mindset. Im from NYC and want to visit Denver soon. I'll definetly go get some food from him! Respect 👊🏾
