The girl who earns USD210,000.00 per annum in NYC was also relatable. She showed that one doesn't have to live an expensive life just because they make money
i was looking around actaully if you stay out of popular towns is very doable, something right off manhattan is only 1200 with a roommate , its very doable
Alanna Hodgson if I was like that at 23 we’d all have flying cars, free education, healthcare and school, renewable energy, all homeless will be cut in half( from the waist) by 2025
she can DEFINITELY make 100K by 30 in NYC! that was my goal & i achieved it! change jobs if you have to, and ASK for what you want (very important, especially for us women!)
Marcel Rodriguez I’d put in more towards the debt repayment and save only 500 a month if it were me.....especially if she has reasonable job security.......it would help minimize interest paid in the end.
@Whiskey Earned I'd also question if they're including her employer's contributions to her retirement account in that. I often hear people folding the employer match for 401k's into the 50/30/20 rule. That said, yes, the lack of student debt is a big saver. Indescribable how much more that puts in your pocket in high cost areas
She sounds just like me when she said that she wanted to make over 100k. I live in New York too and I finally reached that goal through IT. It's definitely possible to hit the 100k mark before reaching 30 years old. She's really smart with her money and ambitious.
@Kay Flip you have to be joking -if not, you need to specify what part of NYC because many places in NYC you can live beyond find with that amount especially as a single person.
eiram31 he’s just trolling. He prolly is unemployed in his moms basement don’t even know where ny is. It’s all relative. Some people like this girl makes $50k and can save money while some people who live in same area with double the income are still heavily in debt.
Matt Sezer that’s because the vast majority of people in nyc are poor immigrants. There is virtually zero middle class due to high taxes and socialist policies. NYC is a city of extremes, extremely poor and extremely rich. The millionaires even out the average to around 60k
itstatilol nah, it’s definitely because of her degree in graphic design. I work in NYC and my first job it of college, I made about $38k and I worked in a big, well known media company. I was the HR Assistant/Receptionist
Kylie Finstad i agree but you have to remember, she lives in nyc. the cost of living in brooklyn (which is a part of nyc) is way higher than living in the Midwest
You are amazing Elena! I'm 24 and recently just landed my first job. I save about 2k a month. I'm single so its super easy for me to save. Would love to meet or find someone like Elena one day. haha
I have so much respect for this woman, especially because she's able to responsibly fit in donations on a budget. That's something I haven't really seen and would honestly like to incorporate more in my own budget. Thanks for being a role model and showing millennials in such a good light!
she's 23 and she already knows the importance of budgeting, saving and working towards her goals. This lady will go far in life. Wonder if she ever came across Dave Ramsey to learn about all this.
You’re crazy. If you are eating out you are abiding by the system and under obligation to tip. If you don’t want to tip, make food at home. Otherwise the server is serving your table for free & you wouldn’t appreciate that at your job.
@@DC-ee9de the interest rates for student loans are 4-8%. Ally only pays 1.9%. The stock market is very unpredictable right now. she is pretty off paying all of the student loans and living completely debt free.
She’s doing great, kudos to her. I’d love to see an episode with someone with student loans and where the parents aren’t the ones paying who is managing it well also. 16k is super low. Granted she lives in NYC so it will take some time.
Graham won't see this as great finance advice material but he'll appreciate how she is handling her finances!! Nice job Elena--so level headed for 23!!
I applaud her tremendously for launching converge. When I left college I was completely lost. It’s an absolutely necessary resource for recent grads. She’s doing great already!
This video was really well time as I just graduated recently and its nice to see how others are handling their future. Thank you CNBC for making this content.
After graduating from 4 yr college, I was doing temp office jobs initially, and later landed a permanent job pulling in only $24K/yr + annual bonus working at a finance co. in NYC. Needless to say, she is doing way better than me after college.
I make just starting 6 figure income & my rent is $985 in Buffalo, NY. People should move out of costly cities. I used to stay in MA state, my rent was $1700 excluding utilities. Asked my company to allow me to work from home. Moved to Buffalo, Ny. Saving $700 on rent.
I like his channel but as always the viewers seem to be the ones making things annoying. Some of them are disappointed that she is not a person who blows their money on crap all because Graham won't have a lot to criticize, therefore his react won't be entertaining
I am so relieved someone said it. I used to watch millennial money type of videos to put some things in perspective and give me ideas. But it is not the same anymore with these comments. So sad there is only one perspective now...
She’s actually lucky she got right out of college into a career she had a scholarship and said her parents helps her pay the little student loans she does have she makes a salary she doesn’t have to live paycheck to paycheck like most ppl who get out of college do and don’t get jobs right away
She'a a millennial? I would think at her age (23) she'd be considered Gen Z. CNBC, it's okay to acknowledge that time has passed and that Millennials are getting older.
@Steve J She literally says that she wishes to start making 100k by the time she reaches 30 years old. But right now that is fine for someone fresh out of college in their 20s with no kids or spouse
ruby waterfall Or some nicely well off parents to help her through that pricey private liberal arts college with as much ease as possible. $120,000 education with only $16,000 in debt? I smell a rat. And with Ithaca on your resume, a $50,000 job in the city is probably just about what you’re entitled to.
She definitely seems like she's going to be very successful in life. I hope that when my time to enter the real world comes, I am as competent and forward thinking as she is.
Idk... I'd save a little less and spend more on getting rid of student loans. I don't know, never had student loans and never will (college freshmen, but not US) but living in debt sounds anxiety inducing.
Recently just started watching these videos. It’s crazy how the people making 6 figures are struggling more than people who should be “poor” in these cities.
People making less often had to learn early to adapt to struggles, so it isn't too surprising that these people are more strategic with their money than people who came upon immediate privilege.
I loveeee this episode! Please more videos like this! I’m currently on an aggressive debt payoff plan and my goal is to have a budget like hers especially for the savings! I live in NY and make a little more than her and this is so inspiring to be able to actually live in NYC, have a social life and save money is goals!
My mum was a model in the 80s, she would get paid £200-£2000 to do ad campaigns in London. Went to New York for an ad campaign and got paid $50,000, plus all the royalties for it years later. I know that's a totally different industry, but I've been told by soo many people over the years that America just pays a lot better than the UK if you're able to get a good job.
I’m mainly watching this to live in NYC on a budget. My prospective career will make me above $100,000 yearly after tax . But ideally I wanna live on $50,000 a year, that way the estimated $20,000 is debt I will have can be paid off easily. And the rest of my money can be invested
Lol she gets to make flyers and power points for a living. Back when I was in school, people yearned to do those projects because they were so fun. Looks like she's living a happy life!
