If you buy a new Honda Click 65,000 baht. If you do 6,000 kms per annum; oil changes and servicing will cost about 2,400 baht per annum. Government insurance and road tax and annual test will be 700 baht per annum. The motorbike would be worth 30,000 baht after 5 years So you could take 65,000 - 30,000 baht / 5 years => 7,000 baht per year + 700 baht + 2400 baht => 10,100 baht per year /12 months= => less than 1,000 baht per month. You are unlikely to spend more than 300 baht on fuel so have your own transport for less than 1300 baht per month. With a Honda Click 160 , you can travel to anywhere in Thailand on it.
One really needs to have a microwave in your room. I also recommend a good rice cooker for 1,000 baht to cook your own quality rice from the supermarket.
$10.50 a day for food and entertainment is really conservative. That eliminates sit down restaurants and bars. It isnt enough. I would want 800b. I don't want to worry about budgeting on one of the best features of Thailand.
Thanbks for a good video Jon. I did not get the name of the insurance you talked about, can you tell me? Could be nice to know about ☺ Keep up the good work
Probably a better thing for your stomach and health wise (not necessarily money wise) would be to rent a place with a proper kitchen doing your own cooking more often. I doubt eating out this sort of food daily could be good for your stomach and your health in general, In fact eating it daily could have rather devastating consequences long term.
Hi Jon, greetings from Kampot. In your condo tour did I miss hear? You said J.C. Hill? Not J.C Smith? Not sure and too lazy to rewind. 55 Ok, transcript says J.C. Hill. Have not heard off it. Only J.C. Smith. Anyway, interesting video. Concidering my options. Chiang Mai for 6 months, Kampot for 6 months. Cambodia definitely cheaper if you like a beer or ten. Cheers, Jim
40.000 THB is my recomended limmit. You will survive for less like 25.000 THB/700 USD, but i think that you should have some quality of life, meaning some comfort so that ypu don't have to worry about how much every move you make will cost, therefore i don't recomend less than about 40,000 THB or 1100 USD a month. If you only have 800 USD a month, then maybe move to Danang Vietnam and live there in stead. The climate, food, and visa regulation is better in Dananf as well.
@@stevebomonster B1900 is for those 50+, and for those under i would go for Business Visa with a work permit, or forget about it. Vietnam Visa much easier, because 90 days apply for new 90 days, borderrun to Laos, rinse and repeat. That option is not viable in Thailad!
I'm pleased to see your channel is growing and you're well past the 1000 subscribers. I was wondering if you would consider doing a monthly report on your channel statistics and how much your YT earnings were each month. It could be interesting for those retired in Thailand to see it earning a little side income. Thanks.
Problem with Chang Mai, its in the middle of nowhere! Why fly thousands of miles to live nowhere near the beach? Koh Samui is No1, granted, more expensive, but a whole lot nicer
Don’t listen to RU-vidrs trying see how low they can go. If you live on 28,000 baht a month include the price of anti-depressants (unless you are used to living in poverty) you need 70,000 baht a month to live close to what you are used to. (. I lived in chiang mai for 2.5 years )
@@recom273studio condo, electricity, and internet a month for $150.00 USD on a retirement annuity in Chiang Mai. I'll take it yesterday, today, and tomorrow. TEFL could be a ticket towards a pension at a Thai government school. I know two Filipinos about to retire as a teacher and collect their pension.
Agree, you need to live the same or a higher life style as if you were home in your country. That’s what a learnt with my spending when I lived in Thailand both in the city and out rural
John many live on 30 000 thai baht per month but having 1 million in the bank is a good idea or 6th months salary or pension I would and normally spend 300 thai baht for food a day but sometimes 200 and never went without
@@kirkster54 you do not need to show a license to buy a bike from a business, done it myself a few years ago before I got my license. If you have a yellow house book you can use that instead of a residence certificate
