Dude. I know it's an older vidie but I had to say something. The Velcro for the TV is an outstanding idea. I'm very impressed. that's enough alow that deserves a sub and like thumbs up👍
Thanks man! North Star did the upholstery. Not cheap, but very high quality. A tip for fabrics is that small lines make the space seem bigger and large patterns make spaces feel smaller. Thanks for watching!
Just came across your channel. My wife is also from cebu, hope to be sailing to the Philippines soon as the world gets over with this bs that is going on. Good luck to the both of you!
Man for a 30 ' that looked a lot more spacious than i thought. I dont know anything about sailboats but recently decided i wanna try it. Im just overwhelmed with all the new things to learn. The size difference between models is crazy.
Got myself a cat 30 as well. 1979 #1325 Raging Bull. She's in a bit of refit mode. Check out the spring issue of Mainsheet magazine for pix of mine. Yours is looking great.
Very nice decor! I am looking at buying a 1984 Catalina but I feel yours is wider? I don't think I would be able to do the L shape kitchen, which I really like.
Absolutely beautiful Cat30! You've really knocked this one out of the park. I had a Cat25 I kept on the lake in a marina slip, spending weekends aboard. Not nearly as comfortable as your 30; mine was more like a pop-top camper where your 30 is a small RV. I'm 6'2 as well, and learned ALOT from my first sailboat, and what I want/require in my next one. I've been looking at Cat30's (and similar) while I dream of a Formosa 51 and a Captain Ron adventure, without all the work and piracy of course! Great job guys, beautiful boat!
Hey, great video! I am looking into buying a Catalina 30 and really like the way yours looks in the cockpit area. I was wondering what brand or manufacturer your dodger and tent cover were. Thanks!
Hi. I too have a Cat 30. I love to get ideas for my boat from videos like yours. Can you tell me about your 12v fridge. Brand? I used to live in the SD area (OB)in the 80’s. Sailed your area a lot. Made a couple trips to the Coronado Islands. Love y’all’s channel. Jonathon
Great video guys! I gotta show my wife this tour. I too have a C30 and a RU-vid channel in Long Beach, CA. Your interior looks great and gave me some good ideas for mine. Thanks for the tour. Question; Does your "second fridge" run on 12 volt power or propane or both? Anyways, I subd and looking forward to more vids. Cheers!
I love your boat!! Thanks for the ideas! Where did you get the little step you used to climb into the V-berth? I would love to get one of those for my boat.
@@OnTheDocksI'm a new subscriber! I saw your channel come across my RU-vid and decided to watch. Just curious but what is a stew? A stewardess? If so, what does that job entail? I'm also an American guy married to a wonderful filipina and we live on the east coast. Been wanting to get into sailing and getting ideas watching sailing channels and reading a lot. May I ask, is your boat your only home or do you have a home/apartment on land also? May I ask what you do for work at the marina? I'm a professional chef and have a catering business for over 30 years and looking to get into sailing but it's difficult because we live about 2.5 hours drive from the nearest saltwater and I run my catering business. I was thinking about trying to get into another job where we could live closer to the water or live on a boat but we'd still need to make a living of course. Any thoughts as to what we could do to make money so we could live on or near the docks (like your channel states, lol)? My wife is from Calasiao on Luzon by the way. Where is your wife from? I showed my wife your channel too😊 Thanks in advance for any thoughts that would be able to get us closer to the water.
The price can vary a lot depending on the condition. My piece of advice is a boat that is cheap usually will cost A LOT to fix up. Worth spending more up front for something well maintained. Thanks for watching!
No this isn’t any particular “marine” fabric. Just nice fabric that we picked out at North Star Canvas who also did the work. If you think it’s going to get really wet or dirty I’d go for the vinyl option.
Can you provide the details for your cockpit tent? Looking to buy a 1980 Catalina 30 and love the shade provided by you tent. Very upbeat inspiring video.
It’s a custom canvas covering that came with the boat. Any upholstery company can make it. Be sure to use Sunbrella fabric or it won’t last a year! It is expensive but worth it. If you are able to find a “non marine” upholstery company it is usually way cheaper. Depends on how perfect/durable/cheap you want it to be. Never use a plastic tarp on your boat or your dockmaster will hate you! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful boat, nice work. I have a 1988 C30 and am interested in your liquor rack. Is that a Whitecap teak magazine rack that you repurposed? If so, great idea.... I’m looking to do the same
I rent this sailboat catalina 30 last summer and i can tell you that the bed in the saloon where the table goes down is to small.I couldn't sleep comfortably so i slept in the v berth. (Im not tall, less then 5.9).
@@OnTheDocks i have a cal 9.2 same length as the cat30 and deeper deeper keel of 5.7 draft 😂 my boat weight 7000 pounds the cat is around 12000 i believe.I like your refit inside neat.
Cat 30s are great for inland water, light air cruising. Can't be beat for comfort and room. Not good for blue water. Plenty of experts have written about this.
The thought of getting caught in a 40 knot + storm in one kind of put the brakes on me getting one of these, but for the dock life they really are nice. It like a little condo.
@@michaelbrownlee9497They're great for inland waters and coastal hops. Have to watch the weather updates and keep your wits about you. Some of the best sailing is right on the edge of horrifying.
Hello Jack and Rona, my name is Carlos González. Congratulations for you amazing ship, I love your order and cleanliness!! I´m from Spain. I´m thinking to buy a saliboat Catalina 30. My problem is that my height is 1,84m and I would like satnd upright inside of the ship. My navigation plan is sailoing with my wifw and my thre littles kids near of the coast and perhaps sleep some days inside. Do you think this model will serve me because of the height of the cabin and the safety in navigation? Thanks for your videos and CONGRATULATIONS!! Best regards._ Carlos
I actually uttered "oh my gosh" aloud when I saw the Velcro TV mount. Then I crapped myself when I found out it was a bed too. I hope one day to be aboard the Jacq Daniel's - blacked out after drinking Elijah Craig shots out of Jack and Rona's coffee mugs with them in the salon. Next I'd make them set up the guest bed for me because I'd insist on spending the night but ultimately I'd pass out in Rona's area. Maybe you can have a sweepstakes for your subscriber's offering a lucky few this experience. Let me know what you think!
My wife and I are an older couple looking for a similarly sized boat as our first. How can you set up some kind of air conditioner for dockside use? TY
I had a portable ac in there at one point and vented it out the companionway or hatch. But it took up so much room and we only need it a couple times a year in San Diego. Having a big canvas cover helps A LOT with keeping the inside cool.
@@CryptoMafia eh, I wouldn’t be overly worried about that. Thousands of people use that motor. I think in general people like the diesel because they are considered more reliable.
Agree. I personally would not own a sail boat with a gas engine. Too volatile. My caralina 30 has the universal M-25XP (25 HP I think). It moves the boat just fine. The older atomic 4 gas engine was under powered (like 10 HP I think)
Guys, what should year of your Catalina ? And second question; where you buy new pillows on the sofa. Not the small ones you bought on Amazon, but the big ones. Sorry, my English is not native. but I really hope you understand what kind of seats and backrests I’m talking about
