You guys are by far the most awesome couple on RU-vid ! Russ is so smart when it came to the paint colour for the little cabinet he said, " maybe paint this black but, maybe not ".lol My husband loves your channel and that's huge praise. Love &Blessings from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia xo
@LindiandRuss You are so very welcome. My husband watches you too and that's saying alot. Love the heavy sighs and eye rolling too. Love &Blessings from Nova Scotia ❤️
The tips on painting wood ceilings were practical and straightforward. I've always been intimidated by DIY projects, but your guidance made it seem manageable.
Love you both, you both have great chemistry. Thank you for a wonderful video. Can hardly wait to see what you do to the fireplace. It will be stunning ❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦
I love you guys. You are so talented and I love what you did with your last house. You have great ideas and wonderful execution of your projects. Russell is such a dry comedian. I always laugh. I was surprised that I liked the faux beams down but it looks more open. Can’t wait to see what is next. I don’t understand why you don’t have more subscribers. I think they will come.
Aww, thank you! Honestly, we’re getting closer and closer to shutting down our RU-vid channel because we just can’t get enough views or followers 😢 it’s hard! But we appreciate every one of you for watching!
@@LindiandRuss Oh no! I hope you don't have to shut down your channel! It's hard to find a RU-vid channel whose style so closely aligns with mine. I've noticed that a lot of the channels I find are having issues getting enough views lately. Hopefully you can find a way to change that. As for the fireplace, have you considered concrete stain? I think that might be able to help you tone down the color without losing the stone's character.
@@kathywright15 I hope we don’t have to either! We love doing it! We just can’t always justify the time if we aren’t getting enough views 😞 We actually called everywhere looking for concrete stain and couldn’t find any of the colours we needed! The prices to ship them from the states is higher than the cost of the whole makeover 😂😂 So we’re looking at new options!
Do a gel stain. I dont know if it can work but im planning on gel stain on the stair railing. I dont care for the browns as much. But love the grain❤. White wash on rocks will so pop! And beautiful. Ive watched you guys for so long and love the creativity that i wouldnt have it in mind. Im hoping it pans out for you for such amount of years of new memories.
The ceiling looks great! I sure wish I’d used a sprayer on my vaulted ceilings instead of hand rolling and brushing them. I probably could have bought one with the money I spent in Chiropractor fees😂 Keep up the great work 🎉
Hey, I have an idea - you could use all that cedar to make a sauna! I either came up with that on my own or there's some kind of mind control going on here ..
Could you try an Acid Wash over the stones? They look like years of soot have discoloured them. The acid might clear away some of the grime then do the grout lines.
The ceiling looks awesome, and it really brightens the room! Actually, now that the ceiling is nice and bright, the fireplace looks much better as a contrast and if you change the color of the walls to a brighter shade, perhaps the fireplace will look fine for a while.......but since you are stepping back from the fireplace project for now.......hmmmmm.......Hey Russ, how about that sauna for Lindi?? 😉😁😁
Love your sauna idea! 😂😂 The issue with painting the walls is that we really want to keep that cedar intact for the future outdoor projects. I totally agree that a lighter wall would look better - just trying to work with what we have for now though
@@LindiandRussHi....yep, a sauna sounds so nice...lol!.......and, I certainly understand what you are saying ☺️....... I also know whatever you end up doing will be awesome!....your projects always look amazing!!
We totally could! We’re just trying to keep the makeover suuuuper cheap because eventually we’re gonna create a whole new fireplace in here. MDF, etc can add up super fast n
I’d suggest just grouting with a white and then a 50/50 mixture of white matte paint to tone down the brown but keep the depth of the tones in the natural stone.
Thank you for sharing am looking forward to seeing the next phase...Russ has no sound on his mic from 13:53 - 14:58 so not sure what his thoughts are going into phase 2. Not sure if you want to voiceover for that part and repost video...just letting you know...might be a key part at the end for us viewers to know what's going on with the fireplace?
@@LindiandRuss I relistened to it and sound def goes off at 13:54 when you switch clips to Russ and comes back when you switch to the clip of fireplace at 14:58...not sure if anyone else has this issue..oh well will wait for phase 2 and see what his thoughts were.
@@heavenlymorsels so weird!! Russ was basically telling me that nothing sticks to the stone and I was saying I’m not happy with the results so far. We’re looking for another solution now :)
@@LindiandRuss am looking forward to see what you do with the fireplace - ceiling looks great 😊 I love how you play off each other - great on camera presence!
Don’t tempt me! 😂😂 I think with this one we want to try to keep some of the character of the wood to match other elements of the room that can’t change yet.
@@nevisscot7697 if we did that, we would have to fully paint the grout lines first, otherwise they wouldn’t be fully covered or if we used another material, it wouldn’t match. Something to think about though!
I bought a Wagner sprayer. It was THE worst paint job ever. So much faster, easier, and professional result without the Wagner sprayer. Waste of money. ( and yes, I practiced, did test panels ahead, and played with the consistency of the paint) DO NOT DO IT!
I completely disagree! Which sprayer did you buy or use? We have both used them in our houses, in the RV, on furniture, etc and we’ve always been very happy! I will say there was a bit of a learning curve to getting a really nice finish with some of the sprayers, but the one in this video is so easy to use and goes on so well. I literally can’t see how you’d have difficulty. Much cheaper than hiring it out!
@@LindiandRuss of course you’re going to disagree it’s a sponsored video. I bought the flexio 2500. I am a very experienced diy’er. It’s kind of condescending to say “I literally can see how you had difficulty “ why would I make it up? I did. I easily gave it about 10-15 try’s, followed the Wagner directions, watched their RU-vid videos, talked to the guys at Loews and sure enough, they confirmed, some of their models suck. I have followed you guys for years on all your social, shocked at this response. #unfollow.
@@Lizwindsor hi Liz - you commented on our sponsored video yelling in CAPS “DO NOT DO IT!” If you are someone who has followed us for years, as you say, then you should know that we NEVER share products that we don’t stand behind. As I said above, sometimes products have a learning curve. When I said, I can’t see how you could have difficulty, I was referring to the Control Pro airless sprayer in this video, which you just admitted you didn’t use. It’s more expensive, but there is no learning curve and it’s super easy to use and use well. We’ve used a ton of these sprayers on and off camera - sponsored and not-sponsored and always been happy, even with the ones that took slightly longer to master. I’m sorry you feel that way. We don’t mean to come across as rude or condescending, but obviously felt the need to defend our actions and choices after being criticised. Hope you have a lovely day! ❤️
