I'm a British-Filipino from the UK with an IT & customer support background, & was advised many times to try a support role in the Philippines, but never really looked into it. I wonder if Thailand offers the same prospects having already been there a few times (going again this Oct). Right now, everything is transitioning to the cloud IT-wise, so I wonder how easy/hard it would be to get into that scene in Asia. However, as others have already pointed out, there's no guarantee that these work situations will benefit you financially in the long-term e.g. pension, changing laws & bills etc.
Just closing out my first week in thailand by getting my car and bike license today! If anyone reading this can help me get something going that pans out I will cut you a handsome check for helping!!!! Ex pro racecar driver, racetrack head coach/instructor and director of sales and marketing, used to own exotic car dealership and shop, owned superbike and mx race shop, owned high end watch shop. Into speed & luxury things. Already sold everything and have no life back in USA im full time Thailand permanently now!
If you go there young making low income and side hustles what happens when you get older? No 401ks, investments, social security etc.. as you get older the side hustles might not an option
What makes you think that 401ks and social securities will be there forever? They are preparing to put everyone on universal basic income. Enjoy yourself while you can and don't plan too far ahead as getting there isn't a given.
@panoskontos5359 well they won't have to worry about it either way if they just basically hustling to pay bills and not really thinking long term older age. 🤷 Not Keis specifically but there are a lot of young guys going to Thailand and their goal is live cheap but few probably really think about what happens when you get older and want to really settle down and not have to hustle etc
The whole point is to turn a side hustle into a full time business You're forgetting it's gonna be decades before retirement age, you're not gonna be stuck on side hustles for the next 30 years lol
@@JayDKB This is what I'm concerned about with these digital nomads .. How long would their time in Asia last before they'll have to go back to their country of origin because things went tits up financially ? Only other thing I see that would counter that is if these dudes really are hustlers, they'll find a way to hit the jackpot by some other means. Unfortunately, not all of us, myself included, are "hustlers" or entrepreneurial - a lot of us have just worked regular 9-5's for most of our lives.
Hey Ads, Love this different type of video from you. If only I was 20 years younger (life's regrets am I right :P) Very informative. Obviously hard to initially get set up. Thanks mate.
Selling clothing in Thailand - especially modern stuff that has to do with Streetwear and styles like that seems to be a decent route if you know the correct buyers.
Very nice lighting, but a bit distracting having the television on in the background. Go Jet Lawrence!!! Good video but you over simplified many things. Things are a lot easier when you have almost 90k followers.
It’s just more to spark ideas in people’s minds, from the comments and interactions on livestreams it seems that many people think you can only be an English teacher or work for your home country company..
Working step by step to try to let my company work remotly from Thailand, security department now cleared it, now its just to convince the boss(es). I am trying to get alloved to work at least 1 month in the winter. as step one.
thanks so much for sharing this, some rly great ideas! I'm starting to look around~ (also curious of $2000 usd/mo might be enough for long term if not $1000? assuminf you were referring to usd 😊) Ty 🙏
$2000 is absolutely enough, you'd want a bit of a savings cushion though. You could do $1000 but unless you have substantial savings you probably will get wiped out by a big unexpected expense sooner or later.
@@southduck my employer provides the laptop, and internet access is blocked, so I don’t think I could use a VPN. Even if I could find a way round it, if they found out they would instantly sack me.
A very good video, i am just wondering as a person with 20+ years in software development and wanting to retire in Thailand, do you think there opportunities for me to either provide a service or even teaching?
500,000 dollars minimum, to give you a stress free life, 500k invested wisely should give a return of 8% or 40,000 US a year, deduct tax etc and you are left with 30,000 a year, 25,000 for living expenses every year and save 5000 for emergencies.
I made that price because it’s not something I really want to do, but people are prepared to pay so it’s a win-win I can help people with questions, get visas or bank accounts etc, I have a lot of connections here 😊
I'm surprised you left out the fact that some of those jobs are illegal for foreigners to do, like anything related to travel guide, advising, or consulting, I think you called it. For the jobs that are legal to do, you need a work permit. If you're here on a tourist visa doing RU-vid videos or whatever else trying to be an influencer, that's illegal too. Thailand has some really strict laws on this area. Maybe if you cover this topic again you can mention it. Hey, get a law firm to sponsor the video! Many/most foreigners who work remotely online in Thailand do so illegally. All it takes is one pissed off ex-girlfriend or customer to turn you in and you can be charged and deported. I'm not sure about the status of the nomad visa, so that may be an option for some people.
Yeah, but those things are obtainable, I have a work permit etc, so it’s something you can get.. You can be a RU-vidr on a tourist visa, as you aren’t working for a Thai company, but if you are here long term, best to get the visa stuff sorted, it’s not that difficult here 😊
More like a grey area if anything. I think you'll struggle to find one person who has ever been charged / deported for doing some online type work in Thailand...
