@@epicdude3659 The Arbiters shields prevent infection forms and spores from passing through, anything larger than an air molecule is passively blocked from entering the field, same for the Chief, flood spores are too slow to reliably infect a host during combat which is why infection forms exist in the first place
@@velraven8944 Look, I know you tried to be smart. But if that was so, when he speaks, he would be dead silent. And suffocate. Admit it, they ignored it because it wasn’t plot relevant.
TBH with the day and night cycle, being near a forest at night and hearing the screams of the flood echoing in the shadows would be horrifying enough. FLOOD HYPE!
I dont think that would be the best idea because i think it would stray a little to far from a military sci fi shooter which is what halo is but like maybe suprise or a twist of gameplay like ce cause i dont think halo should turn into a horror game
The base game, I'm personally not holding my breath, but I think it's definitely possible, and I dare say probable we could see a dlc campaign about the Flood down the line, though we'll have to see. I'm just curious if in such a dlc, would it use the base game open world, a new more linear environment, or even a new open world environment specifically for this kind of dlc; it'll be very interesting to see what happens
@@xendakakorva3267 Funny, because the Beast doesn't use fear tactics to terrify the fight out of you so it can mutilate you before infecting you, killing you (if you're lucky) before excruciatingly transforming you into a monster. The Beast, on the other hand, absorbs you rapidly, leaving you as what is effectively a ghost. A terrible existence, but preferable to the horrors of the Flood. Especially since you can be vaccinated for the Beast Virus, whereas the only cure or vaccine for the Flood is a bullet to the head and an incinerated body....
@@Sigma-gb9yd Good point, tho in all fairness. . . *HOLY FUCKING CRAP IS THE BEAST TERRIFYING!!!* also if the flood enounters the beast what would they both do? try to use deception to make the other just give up or just instead try to subvert eachother's flesh? then again the Flood has the Logic Plague so. . . idk XD
*I swear Hidden Xperia would be the only sentient being on the galaxy the Flood wouldn't **_Dare_** to touch due to the Gravemind fearing looking into his mind...*
It's weird to think that when you fight against the flood, you (or at least I do) find them annoying, but when you think about it from a Marine's perspective, this is terrifying.
@@natescorner no he's saying the original Xbox version of Halo CE not the Anniversary version or MCC both of which actually use the inferior Gearbox PC port of Halo CE which is why the game feels super janky.
@@sorrenblitz805 I realize he’s talking about the OG Xbox version. I was saying I find the 360 version of CEA easier than the OG. I know the gearbox version is inferior in the way you point out. I wasn’t denying that.
Flood in Halo CE was an interesting and unexpected plot twist. I remember in halo OG graphics (which are much darker) fighting the flood was nerve wracking, specially in legendary.
@@FBI-ju5no it’s not because of the challenge. It’s because I HATE it more than anything when a Spartan ,weather it be 2,3,4th gen, when a Spartan dies.
That introduction actually made the flood for the first time to me genuinely terrifying because that part where the marine realizes the head is upside down and it made facial expressions such as fear and sadness, that means you don't die at all you are still in there as you are helpless to do anything even as you watch fellow soldiers get slaughtered and the only thing you have to look forward to is death as you wait for mind to degrade. that is horror.
well, no, you absolutely die. i’m assuming that that part was either aftershocks of the last moments of the marine’s life, or written in a more metaphorical sense, as in the main character realizing that they’re looking at someone who was once human but is no longer.
See, this is the reason why next to nothing will ever approach the flood in sheer fear factor. Outside of the opening and gameplay of the first time you play world at war Nacht der Untoten, nothing will ever approach how terrified the flood can get me or your average gamer.
This man spitting facts. Nacht der untoten was so crazy because like the flood in halo, the majority of players had no clue it was gonna be in the game.
Wow. Wowowow. This channel is specialized in incredible accurate breakdown and speculation of Halo technology and this story was not something I was expecting. Amazing video and one of my new favorites by you.
The flood is just so evil and dark Gracemind to Arby n Chief: We are Peace, unity, brotherhood, an everlasting chorus Gracemind to everything alive: BURN An everlasting chorus of pain! 😭
I knew plenty of Marines like this guy. Last one out, hopping around, still trying to pull his boot on. And of course that’s the dude that lives the longest.
I wonder if Seargant Johnson can be infected at all, or if he is just highly resistant to the weakened version that infected the rest of his squad because of his "borenn syndrome".
The spores are a massive plot problem realistically speaking from a story telling perspective... where they sort of wrote themselves into a corner because the way they are described make it literally impossible to write the story. Spores cause several issues in continuity, with canon stories... which is why my head canon is that the spores are a last resort infection attempt, when all other means of infection have failed, they are released from the final infection form's corpse in the area once it is terminated. Then these spores slowly infect any near by living creature. Once the released spores from the prior "last" infection form, succeed in infecting a host, it's remains stop producing spores in favor of a preferred form of infection, like a combat, or infection form. It's 1:26 am so apologies if this is jumbled.
Ok something I dont understand, once the flood infection form infects a host, why doesnt it just leave? If spores and body fluids can infect people and turn them without an infection form then why do host die if an infection form dies? Like is this just a plot hole since they introduced spores? Flood combat forms that are infected by infection forms just seem weaker than those who were infected by other means since if the infection form dies so does the host. Doesnt make sense to me.
@@zachhowe98 I think technically spores, or other means of infection can't produce a active combat form by itself. It would first convert the host creatures flesh into flood biomass and then create infection forms from that, which it would then turn the remaining body into a combat form if necessary, being piloted by an infection form. If that^ Isn't how it works, then yes it's just another in the long list of flood spores cause plot holes and issues.
This may be a bit off-topic, but wouldn't Covenant weapons be super effective against the Flood? Plasma weapons that burn away necrotic flesh(shielded or not) would be, in theory, the best way for regular infantry to combat the Flood forms.
Well yeah, in theory Covenant Plasma weapons would most likely be the best option for countering Flood, but still the Marine weapons' bullets would still rip them apart.
@@thaddeusyoung6061 Depends on the weapon though. Remember, shotguns are a one-hit kill, and sniper rifles are almost completely useless, and all of them need different types of ammo. Meanwhile, the Covenant all use the same plasma fuel source for all of their weapons, meaning EVERY weapon carries the same advantage.
Well to be honest the covenants weapons are kinda bad. They get the job done but alot of them overheat. Putting the gunplay to a temporary halt. Leaving u open for an attack from one of them.
@@somedudewhodraws9377 as opposed to having to reload human weapons? You can avoid overheating a plasma weapon, but you can’t avoid running out of bullets...
The flood is just so evil and dark Gracemind to Arby n Chief: We are Peace, unity, brotherhood, an everlasting chorus Gracemind to everything alive: BURN An everlasting chorus of pain! 😭
Imagine an alien isolation type video game against the flood. maybe only a single infection form got on to your civilian research ship, managed to infect someone, and found a quiet place to turn into a pure form to start picking off the crew and producing spores. Gameplay loop would be about expanding your playable area by eliminating flood spores using science and the air filtration of the ship, while dodging the prowling pure form as it wanders, until you can repair a damaged old mjolnir mk 1 that the ship uses as a glorified forklift, outfitting it with chemical flamethrowers, and turning the tables on the pure form after hours and hours of tense atmospheric stealth and body horror. I feel like that could really sell the true horror of the flood. halo players are used to seeing individual infection forms, small pure forms, and single combat forms as totally trivial, but seeing them from the POV of a normal ass human would be truly gut wrenchingly terrible, and I think they deserve to have that explored.
Eh personally I like both series. Necromorphs (the brethren moons more accurately) are a lot more lovecraftian while the flood are more "down to earth" so to speak. At least this is for the early stages. In later stages they become powerful enough to manipulate reality itself. Now that's an utterly terrifying and godlike enemy to face.
Man that opening and naritive was amazing ! A Shear perfection of a mind knawing experience with all the horror that comes with it. I applaud you. Imagine witnessing that same situation in infinite as John 117 or as a marine or an odst in a halo infinite horror spin off.
Bruh, the Flood is something else. I thought infection forms stabbed the nervous system, left flood cells in the nervous system, then went to go infect someone else. But to hear that they actually dig into the host, and take residence inside the chest cavity. That's metal. God damn do I love Halo.
I could not do anything for Halloween because of the lock down but when i looked at the timestamps and saw narrative asmr it made my night. Also that intro was terrifying dude.
What's scary is that something like the flood could exist. Space is so massive and im sure they do exist, it's just that we haven't encountered them yet.. I hope I'm gone before we encounter that species.
Happy Halo ween. As for this very horror story. Jesus Christ man. Now that is a story. I wouldn't want to live it. Gave me chills just watching this. What was the sentence that proto gravemind said to keys. We all ready do. Then ends him. The sound of that proto gravemind was chilling and just very eary. This was again well done. Installation00 you are putting the flood in a lite us players don't want or wish to know. Since though the flood are Halo lore you had to. Keep up the great content and work. We will see you in the domain. Academiclamb171 standing by 5-5.
That story had me squirming at the end like man. I've never read any of the halo books except fall of reach and Thursday War so I have no idea what a flood infection is described like. That was terrifying in its own way. Not outright scary like a jump scare but the slow and inevitable dread that creeps and builds. The flood are damn terrifying and I don't think anything could ever beat them.
I've been watching you since you had around 10k and am part of the discord, just wanted to say how great your videos are. This was definitely different but absolutely amazing!
Man, I love your voice 💕💕💕💕 Its so good and literally listening to this with my eyes closed I felt like that marine, can we please get more of your narration plz
They need to make a Flood survival horror game. Where we play as an augmented Marine/ODST. Customizable gear and equiptment with Flood forms from both the main games and Halo Wars games.
I can legitimately picture 9:58 being so gruesome that I tested how far my head would go back for reference until I felt pain in my upper spinal cord. The ending of that narrative believe it or not reminded me of The Rack from the movie SAW.
Everyone before Infinite: I hope the Flood will show up Infinite: (gets a Teen rating) Everyone after Infinite: They "are" in the game technically Me: It's a texture file in a hidden area. Wowee.
Awesome! That was so good, thank you so much for doing this. I really hope 343 brings them back. Of course I still have questions. But I'm satisfied for now. Again thank you for this!
What is truly terrifying about this is how slow we are at responding to the attack. Every other marine in the barracks suited up and went to the armory to arm up and went to the fight before we are even able to put two boots and a helmet on. It’s a good thing we die here or our drill instructors would kill us for how slow we are at responding to the fight.
Me, who stopped watching asmr for this video: PLS BE A LONG AND RELAXING VIDEO Installation 00: 31:46, starts with narrative ASMR Me: thank the precursors
"you reach for a weapon you haven yet collected. You search your surroundings for something to defend yourself with. Nothing..." Me, a level 8 pathfinder player with inprovised weapon mastery: oh i disagree
i like to play you videos while i do math hw and when i heard the introduction i was very confused because i thought that was the whole video. very well done
It’s you I like and I like you just the way you are you make each day special day by just you being you and the best person you can ever be is your honest self!
The beauty of Halo. The first person shooter to make it perfect. Amazing story and lore. Great multi-player fun. One of the best horror games to not try and be. I'll never forget the first time I encountered the flood. Chaos. Don't let them leave the ring.
Nightmare fuel the flood are definitely one of the best enemies in halo. Listening to this as well could you even imagine what it must be like trying to fight off a horde of the flood invading your camp the sounds and just everything about them pure terror absolutely love it.
You have a great voice for this kind of stuff. Who else thinks he should do readings of the halo books? I would pay to listen to you read them like audible. Great work mate.
