Finally I got a layman's review of my Hisense 100" 4K TV The Hisense 100S8 - Australian exclusive TV. After living with the TV for 3 months, I feel its the right time to give me opinion and thoughts on this mammoth of a unit!
Man, you’re probably the only one who has said that. So many people make horrible comments, some I had to delete. From eye level, I’m about 10% below the centre of the display. Thanks 🙏
I will say, I have been using a 32" Panasonic HDTV for nearly all of the 2000s, up to only a few years ago. I was pretty happy with it and way back in the early 2000s, 32" was considered decent. I tweaked it as much as possible that it looked good even with the first formats of Blu ray. Then when the time came to finally say goodbye and shop for my first new flatscreen since my first one, I never looked back. Only except to remount the 32" back on the wall where I've been enjoying my new 65". I did that just for shits and giggles. I was taken aback and staggered by the difference. The 32" did feel like a baby TV by comparison. Like watching a tiny monitor and I saw what I was missing for years. Not to mention the 65" is 4k. All the lack of detail and blurriness of the 32" 720i TV that I thought was holding up was not even a comparison. Now, I'm already looking ahead to upgrade to an 8k. I might stick with 65", I feel that is my max. 65" might not be big enough to notice a huge difference from 4k to 8k, maybe it might, but it's more future proofing and getting newer high speed eARC and HDMI 2.1. Sound system is still a little outdated that uses optical, but the DTS still gets the job done.
It's not mounted too low. Most people mount theirs too high. Mine is a bit too high but that's the nature of a 77" Oled. You've had one you know what I mean. Great setup. I'm very jealous 😅
I really like how the proportions fit just right compared to the two windows on the sides and wall in between. I'm really excited about these new really big TVs coming to market. I hope the prices will come down a bit so maybe I can get one too. I still wanna ask whats your viewing distance on this setup and do you think its suitable?
Hey mate, great video. How does your TV and set up hold on? Still happy with it? I am about to install a similar setup, same unit so I'd like to hear any comments/recommendations from your side. Also, great choice of the bracket. Does it give you enough room to connect/disconnect cables from behind? Cheers!
Yeah no complaints. I ran 4 x 5m HDMI cables in, so I don’t have to move the TV. Do everything you can to never move the thing. Don’t mount it high like everyone suggests. It’s perfect at a low height.
@@ILT_AU Thanks mate! I appreciate your reply. I couldn't find the same bracket but I found a similar Sanus one rated at 136kg so it should be Ok. I'll get someone to properly anchor it to the wall -- I don't want it to fall off. I'll follow your guidance in regards of the cables and height too. I am choosing a cabinet there is a King one I like so I might get that. Cheers mate, have a good one.
@jeylful no problem. I find when I sit down. My straight line of sight to the TV is about 20-30% hight from the bottom of the TV. Which means to look at the centre of the TV display, I’m still slickly looking upwards. Which I find the most comfortable. It appears the trend in the USA is to place the TV above a fire place which I find way too high up for my taste. Even more so for a TV above 75” in size. The Monster TV bracket was from Harvey Norman if you’re in Australia. The main thing is to make sure the wall can handle the weight, as I was building my house at the time. I actually made the wall specifically to hold 200+ Kgs for that TV. So for an existing home it could be more difficult. A nice low lying cabinet finishes it off very nicely also, congratulations 🙌 on the big screen TV my friend. You will absolutely love it.
If I had to choose between this one and a very high end 150inch screen projector, I'd take the TV with no hesitation. No matter how expensive the projector wont match it's colors.
Soon everyone will have hundreds of inchs tvs. Because the new micro oled vr glasses coming out are insanly sharp n they give the illusion of huge display in your house. The panel itself on them is supposed to have better oled colors then the current way they make oled.
@@diggernick6515 My apology for that one. I was at Best Buy the week prior and was profiled/followed around the store. Still, my comment was uncalled for...🙏
@@diggernick6515 Yeah, an unfortunate comment. I was profiled by Best Buy around that time ; followed me around the store while shopping for TV. Still, an uncalled for comment...🙏
I play on a 115" sony projector, so good, but no 120hz, bee waiting to upgrade to a 120hz projector, but i think ill wait till 110" tvs become more affordable. 5 more years they will be well priced
@@ILT_AU HDR doesn't really mean much in gaming too much. Having smooth motion and and clarity is what's needed. I have tried gaming on some TVs and it's unplayable with blurriness and all that. Sony projectors on game mode, especially the 120hz ones it better than heaps of TVs, minus ultra blacks and of course brights, but is still amazing
@DarrenBoxhall I strongly disagree and I’ll doubt you will find many people that would agree with you that gaming is better on a projector. I have the new 83” G4 OLED and I can tell you now a projector would look silly next to it. But you do you my friend.
@@ILT_AU and I don't know anyone who would go from a high-end projector to a tiny ass 80" tv. I can assure you no one would drop down to a tv after playing on a projector, unless it was a 110" tv.
Hi, new sub here, what will be your choice if money is an issue, 65" premium oled or 85" mid range LED ? Gaming 50% movies 30% Cables 20% Mid bright and dark room viewing
85”. There a huge size gap between 65 and 85. For the price. Size matters. However because your also a gamer like myself, it depends on what TV and what features it is. What LCD TV do you have in mind?
No I don’t mean it’s obsolete. It serves its purpose for the right room. Imo it’s better for a room with no windows / environment control. Size definitely matters. But a 100” TV is certainly a nice experience
@@ILT_AU they make really good active wireless tower/shelf speakers now and they are miles better than any soundbar. If you want a clean setup look up something like dynaudio xeo 30
