informative video! Thumbs up! Just some minor nitpicks: - POWER is expressed in kilowatts (kW). - ENERGY, which is what we are charged for, is commonly expressed in kWh. e.g the Model 3's battery capacity is about 80kWh, and the fast charger charges $0.55 / kWh, making a "full tank" cost about $44.
coverage for part 2 should include - 1. range and battery capacity deviation during SG's very hot weather 2. chassis/interior temperature during SG's very hot weather and during long drive - does the batteries cause/make the chassis of the vehicle feels 'warm'/'hot' 3. total cost of ownership including car insurance
I love Tesla or any EV..at least chow ah Beng ah Seng cannot go and modify their exhaust , their engine lah..hope Singapore have all EV soon and replace those chowtar carbon cars..wiohaha
Woaahhh so it is safe to say that next year onwards can drive full EVs along North south expressway up until Padang Besaq. Ohh in fact I found few charging stations at RnR recently I.e Gunung Rapat and Sungai Perak.
Difficult to say. That's one of the concern when buying this car. You might have ppl unplug your charger and charger their car. Surely there will be unethical ev drivers around
Will u come out part 3 to explain the hire purchase + COE loan details? Or even trade in old ICE car to Tesla details? I believe most of us would like to know more details about this... Thank You!
What I learned from this video: In Singapore, you can buy a new Tesla Model 3 for the price of a new Toyota Corolla 1.6. Which makes you wonder why anyone would drop $100k on a Corolla in the first place. The only winner in this tax scheme will be the government.
I think have to ask if futures change battery how much it cost to change battery in singapore for tesla as affect the resale value of electric car. No one will buy a massive reduced range battery car. And later u stuck with the car with bad battery. Imagine car with 10% range after 8,9 years.
Thank you for the video helps me a lot! but the car has “zero” emissions is not entirely true right? energy derives to the charger to charge the car is not zero emission.. hence leaving your car on idle while charging should still be a no no right?
Will u make another video about how is the loan? As the car itself is 115k and coe is 80k, how can the DBS loan approved? And how is down-payment etc and how is the online buying process
At this price, only the rich can afford a Tesla. If you are concern about how much loan you need to pay, a car that depreciate 17k a year with a road tax and insurance of 10k is not something u should look at
nice vid. but its still inconvenient for most of us to buy rn. need to plan ahead for most of our trips. might have to wait atleast 5-10years for ev adoption to normalise
You forgot to research the high insurance costs. And the high road tax is meant to be a form of luxury tax for those rich and elites who want to show-off and brag by owning the more powerful, fastest car. btw Teslas have zero resale value because of uncertainty over battery quality but LTA guarantees a minimum, fair depreciated, paper value in SG. Isn't this a subsidy for the rich and elites who can afford this high OMV luxury car? Early users are also being subsidised free at the Superchargers. That is also unsustainable.
@@chinchowpowpook Those who appreciate engineering quality and craftsmanship will go for Porsche, BMW, and certain Lexus, Honda and Subaru models. This is high OMV USA garbage assembled in China and designed by crony-capitalist company. USA is only good for weapons, violence, and BS+hypocrisy+corruption.
I dont drive. But how much does it cost on average for a petrol car to top up to full tank? In comparison to the rapid charging of an ev car now of $44 to "full tank"?
@@CarLifeSG The thing is you don't charge a EV only when u are empty and likewise you don't top up petrol when the tank is empty. Wonder what's the real price diff.
Direct from 3-pin socket is really not practical. Too slow. If you live in a landed property and have a dedicated charging space, more ideal to get a dedicated fast charger (around 7kW) installed. That would definitely be able to sufficiently charge your EV overnight.
What are your thoughts on the autopilot feature being disabled in Singapore at the moment? Also, with regards to warranty; Tesla’s approach towards right to repair is non existent as they do not provide parts to third party manufacturers. Hence, the worry after 160k or 192k of mileage as repairs can be very costly. Is that something that should be swept under the carpet for now or look to get rid of it before the warranty time is up?
Hi the full self driving feature is not enabled on this media car, I’m not sure whether it’s enabled on other model 3s in singapore or not. The auto steer feature you saw is a part of the self driving feature Warranty wise it’s too early to tell. Maybe a few years from now there will be workshops specialised in electric car repairs that can fix out of warranty Teslas

Great sharing! a great help for people looking to get a tesla like me. When we buy the tesla, are we able to take a loan on the Car + COE together? Like buying a normal car. Or do we have to pay for the COE ourselves, and get a loan on the car? Appreciate the advice! thanks
Thank you ! I believe it would be the same as buying other cars, so yes you can take a loan on car + coe but from what I know Tesla works with DBS. Not sure if you can get financing from other banks and I’m not sure what DBS car financing terms are like
since OMV is above 20k for both variants, 40% down is required. standard will be about $77k (based on $193k price) performance will be about $94k (based on $235k price)
It is not ridiculous. The higher tax is a luxury tax for those who want to brag and show-off they own a powerful and faster car. OMV is also high so implies expensive. Car price high, more power and very fast implies the owner thinks he is better than others. Don't you want to punish the rich and elites?
@@deeharper1364 Hahaha shows that all those who criticise the govt are such hypocrites. Hypocrites who want to show-off their flashy, powerful cars while demanding welfare and no taxes.
Road tax are emission tax. this is why there are no road tax for bicycles. and different petrol diesel vehicles are tax differently based on emission of engines. However in Singapore, its PAP that you voted for so they will not forget to make you pay.
THE FACT THAT I NEED TO WASTE 30 TO 40MINS OF MY LIFE PER CHARGE IS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE, TIME IS LIMITED. IMAGINE U HAVE TO DO THAT FOR YOUR ENTIRE LIFE....
U charge your phone also take 45min-1hr, dont see anyone complaining. You can waste hours scrolling on your phone and watching videos or doing whatever but you rather spend more money to top up gas than to take 30min to charge your car
@@ttheguyy phone you charge while sleeping or carry a power bank to charge. To charge a Tesla fast you need to find a super charger and wait 30 mins for it to charge. What's more if there is a queue then your wait time would be extra long. We Singaporeans are very busy ppl time is money.
@@SGbro92 gov alrdy say by 2025 all hdb parking lot will have charger at each parking spot, even work areas u can park n charge while u in ur office working, finish work full charge alrdy u scared what. 1 full charge can go more than 400km, u drive to work n go home only u scared what, u also not driving jurong to changi 11 times. Plus tesla will give u estimate of your car got how many km left to drive, dunnid to scared
@@ttheguyy then no need kan cheong and chiong buy Tesla now what. Can wait until 2025 look look see see first. Unless you stay landed if not wait first better. More EV choices from different brands would also be available by then.
The road tax for the given horsepower is actually ok. The interior is too plain and boring for my liking. Workmanship and build quality is also not as good as the Germans.
The only most time wasting thing to do other than fulling up the tank is charging up an EV. And after charging the car full, you'll need to rush back to the carpark to move your car away. that's stupid.
