I have Asperger's syndrome too. This man is an inspiration to me and should be heard more often..... thank you for making me smile. I have a lot of respect for this man. social interaction is hard I agree but he is making me feel like I am not alone
good for you my friend. I think all is aspies experienced bullying throughout school to find something your good at it and thrive is something special.
I ask this in compassion - would home schooling have been better? I was a teacher, and in my school experience and my experience teaching, schools are just giant "chicken yards", where the biggest, toughest meanest chickens peck the weaker chickens to death. Home schooling is a valid alternative and much research demonstrates the positive results for students who are bullied and harassed. No one should have to experience bullying while learning!
It's not right to call ASD an 'intellectual disability'. We simply struggle with communication and social norms, like we find it really hard to get what we want to say into a form that makes sense to other people. The weird thing is that, from my aspie perspective, most NT's are so caught up in social games, drama, and the general rat race of life that they can manage to go through this entire human experience without ever having an iota of self-awareness or introspection. Falling prey to the social pressure to conform, suppressing their individuality in order to fit into corporately-manufactured notions of 'fitting in' and 'being cool' without ever having confronted the essential truths of life. Autistics are told we're broken, so we're forced to undergo radical psychological and philosophical transformation simply to blend into society.
