There’s some really good blackout blinds and curtains out there that really block out light well, with these you’ll really get good sleep and then when you’re up and it’s sunny you can feel energised by the sun right away. I much prefer these over eye masks
Greetings from beyond the arctic circle! Last sunrise was two weeks ago and there will be no sunset for about a couple of months. As many advices, good blackout curtains could help. Also melatonin supplements could help with regulating sleep cycle
al pacino suffers insomnia (2002) becoz sun won't go down (some small town in Alaska) ^^ good movie gives idea what is nightless night and yes it makes crazy :) *Greetings from Finland* :edit: try working at night and you WILL find your ways to sleep at daytime :p like no option...
why don't scandis have rolling shutters, lol, so many countries in Europe it's standard, and they block sooooo much light, lol, it's super amazing. Also, the axis doesn't move with the seasons, it's technically the same (though I've heard it moves like a spinning top, slightly wobbly), it only seems like it's moved its axis but it's all relative according to where it is positioned around the sun
We have blinds. Sometimes, in apartments, they are placed inbetween the glass panes and you lower them on the side. We also have rolling curtains. You just pull it down. However, we are not as bothered by the light as winter is dark, so when the light comes we worship it. You'd know if you were Nordic. Also, Sweden is very long and the south does not have the same amount of light or dark as the north.
This is great! I think that growing up in a country with a more regular daylight cycle got me used to relying on the night to get tired and sleepy, hopefully I will just get more used to the sun! Ps I can’t wait for midnight sun!
Its just to sleep. Just work yourself tired or get a lot of fresh air, and get used to sleeping in semi light. I never cover my windows or anything.. If you do cover them and get used to it, sleeping somewhere without covers is almost impossible. But after the long dark winter nights I'm also quite happy for the sunlight.
thanks for the tip! I think I read somewhere that to get a good night sleep and really give your brain what it needs you must be in the darkness when you sleep , i'm not so sure anymore though !
The movie Midsommer did a lot of image association damage without even realizing. Now, whenever I think of Sweden and midnight summer, the only thing that pops in is that eponymous gory film. This is despite the fact that I am already aware that it is fiction. Propaganda works and is powerful.
There is no such thing as too much sun, just block your windows really good. The darkness in the winter months, that is a problem which you cant really do anything about. Thats the real problem living this far north.
Here in Greece now, in June, the sun rises at 05:30. By late June, 05:10. I like it. I like the sun; I don't like the night. I wouldn't mind if the sun was up 24/7. I don't even bother closing my curtains.
Thanks for sharing! If you love the sun so much I would suggest you to come visiting Sweden in summer but i think greece is a too beautiful place to leave at that time!
Why don't you try "blackout curtains". The products exist for a reason. Hotel rooms do get pretty dark with their curtains closed, and it's not a coincidence. Your covers did not look very effective, to me.
Seriously ever heard of curtains and closing your eyes. I’ve lived in Finland in similar conditions and it was never an issue. If you can’t sleep upgrade your curtains. Don’t hate the game, hate yourself for not thinking
