The reveal that godzilla was way larger than the japanese hoped for reminded me of how castle bravo was supposed to be way smaller than the actual blast.
It reminds me of the scrapped 1983 American “Godzilla: King of the Monsters!” script: Where Godzilla had a juvenile who was mistaken for himself and was killed by the military. They expect Godzilla to be the same size, and when he appears he’s over twice the size of his fallen offspring.
@@codyerickson3550Everything I hear about the planned 1983 movie makes me more and more disappointed with the one we got. It's not even really that it's a bad monster movie per se, it's a pretty standard Emmerich disaster film, it's just not Godzilla. The show slaps though so at least we got that out of it.
8:24 the use of that roar from the 62 King Kong vs Godzilla trailer was so damn perfect, it was originally so distorted and sketchy sounding. Perfect. This is honestly phenomenal world building. I am completely captivated. Monarch legacy of monsters should have been literally this
I always liked that particular roar. It always sounds to me like a startled or surprised roar so it fits perfectly with the context of the hydrogen bomb detonating in his face.
I love how Godzilla was like "fuck that noise" and it was immediately on sight the moment he locked eyes with Manda, didn't even waste a second charging up that atomic breath.
The Cold War would basically come to stop before it could get going. It would bring the world closer together to battle a common enemy. Shipping would likely shift towards the Atlantic as a result. Land routes to Asia would become more common.
This should have been the Monarch series, or something similar, moving away from the family dramas a bit and focusing more on the story and the monsters.
@@Godzilla1282It’s the one when he’s approaching the military base in the Arctic, right? They way they used it in this video is fantastic. He sounds so pained and yet so pissed off
@@codyerickson3550 they use this one a few times in that film. It's also used during the evacuation scene as he's in the distance while the woman is trying to get away
Everything about this video is perfect! From the sound editing to the look and feel of it all. And let's not forget about that Bad Ass "Godzilla Raids Again remake between Angirus and Godzilla. I've been begging for that revamp since I was 8 years old 😂
EASTER EGGS 1:39 MOTHRA as a statue artifact. 1:41 A cave painting referencing VARAN. 3:25 Doug shows up here with the trike. 5:13 HANNA BARBERA GODZILLA makes an appearance here. 12:07 After he was explaining the meganulon, he mentioned that volcanologists believe something larger inside the volcano, an indirect mention to RODAN. Although shape it as an octopus LOL.
The octopus silhouette for Rodan may be a separate reference to the American posters for Godzilla Vs Mothra, giving it the name of Godzilla Vs The Thing, where they intentionally obscured what her actual appearance to draw further mystery of what Godzilla was going to fight; or they just didn't want to reveal that Godzilla was fighting a giant cuddly moth. And what little they had shown for Mothra/The Thing made her out to be a more like a giant octopus like monster much the silhouette for Rodan.
I almost thought that footage was real until I looked at the really long fingers lol. Almost gave me ptsd! Lmao. Ive seen real videos of horrible things and its always sad and disturbing to see. Glad it was fake.
@@Tyrexthecreaturedesigner My apologies, but it's true and sad the case of the Backrooms, in 2020 they were just a strange place, and slowly turned into the scp foundation.
@@NightFighter88 while yes the thousands of layers with different monsters ruined it, Kane from what I have watched has limited it to just one monster and very few levels. The whole ASYNC thing with a corporation opening up a dimension of unspeakable horrors for the sake of profit is intriguing. But honestly I get your opinion.
I like how the Godzilla vs Anguirus fight was a lot like suitmation, really looked more like 2 guys in a costume fighting each other with little hints of SGI to keep it going smooth. W Footage.
This is….. incredible. The worldbuilding is fantastic. The concepts, the use of different film monsters throughout history and creating a world where they all perfectly coexist, I love this. Some of these scenes were genuinely terrifying to watch
I thought this was just gonna be a cheap slideshow analog horror thingy and I'm glad I was wrong This is actually really well done and absolutely peak fiction
Dude this is beyond fantastic. It perfectly feels like a newsreel or documentary that would’ve existed during that time and I love how everything felt so grounded and realistic. The world building is great too, with the Kong film to the formation of the UNGCC. Fine work 🤌 Also, is the idea of the Godzilla carcass washing ashore dead and the adult Godzilla arriving to wreak havoc inspired from the Godzilla: King of the Monsters 3D script from 1983?
Stuff like this makes me wish 2014 wasn’t humanity’s first exposure to monsters in the Monsterverse due to Monarch keeping them a secret for decades. This could’ve been insane world building.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. For me 2014 Godzilla is an alright movie. Clearly Edward’s wanted to pay tribute to the 1954 movie by making his movie in a more dark and serious tone, however too dark as in “I can’t see squat, turn up the brightness!”. With its flaws I’m glad it happened otherwise we wouldn’t have the Monsterverse.
I think this is what the Monarch show should have been. Set primarily in the past and actually not break the lore established in the 2014 opening sequence which had this exact same tone. Show the monsters and their discovery.
@@caldervanegas240 there just oversized humans with bad perorations if the titans look like the ones of the monsterverse then they would be more scarier
I love the implication that humanity just abandoned New Zealand to Anguirus. But great story, fantastic world building, you clearly have an interesting story going on here and I'm quite interested to see where it goes
This reminds me of the twilight zone but with Godzilla, I love the old feel and great animation. One of the greatest pieces of godzilla fan media I've seen in a while
This is amazing. Great special effects for the day, and even compared to 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's Godzilla - you know, the one with a man in a Godzilla costume/suit. Amazing special effects on King Kong, too.I've seen some of these movies and have known of some of the creatures, but apparently, there are many that I haven't seen. Really cool short movie.
This is one the coolest things I've seen come out of Godzilla, this actually feels like a proper old documentary with all the little graphics on how to stop Godzilla and love the implication of king Kong being a documentary film. This is an amazing project and I can't wait to see more
This is simply brilliant. The idea behind this "documentary" alone is nothing short of genius. Cooper, Shoedsack, O'Brien, Honda, Tsuburaya and all the other brilliant minds behind these movies would be very happy to see their movies inspire the world, in same cases almost a century after their first release. This kind of fan love and dedication is beyond amazing! Easily one the most impressive fan films here on RU-vid.
This is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen on RU-vid in my life. I am entranced. This is real. Monsters are real. That lives with us on earth
Really excited to see this becoming a series. It has so much potential I also love how well they're utilizing Godzilla in a more horror styled setting as well as the creative uses of the VHS and old video. It's able to keep the familiar style of Godzilla, while being able to go out and do its own thing which makes it very creative and fun to watch. I wish we got more Godzilla styled horror around like this rather than "scary suit scaring people because it funny"
I imagine we could be getting another one from early 60s with colour. Meaning we could be getting Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan. Maybe some more Monsterverse kaiju if Lost Utopia Films wants to. Maybe we could even see Jet jaguar or the Showa alien invasion plots from the 70s Godzilla movies.
I agree, Angurius getting the screen time he deserved made it great too. I would LOVE to see Goro getting action, especially since Gorgo was mentioned, a very lesser known kaiju today
Damn, no need to throw shade at Unknowingly and The Man in the Suit. There’s nothing wrong with that style of horror and he puts a lot of effort into his work. Idk what’s up with people always putting other content creators down the moment they find someone that they think does something better. It’s really toxic. Both styles can be used to make scary Godzilla content.
Kinda wish the 2014 design was used for the main Godzilla so that one could easily slip this into a headcanon for the whole MonsterVerse, but other than that this is bloody fantastic.
@@GutsGrassesOn yes but the model used here is the doughegoji kotm model from 2019, op is referring to the garegoji g14 model which would make sense here since this all takes place before 2015 (where he got the doughegoji dorsals according to monarch lom)
I would have preferred one of the Toho Godzilla designs personally. Seeing the Legendary one in recreated scenes of the original movie just feels... wrong.
While that would have been cool, I also think it’s neat that they used KOTM Goji design since he shares the same dorsal plate design the original had in 1954
I think in second program, we meed alien species (like Ghidorah and Xillen Aliens), other monsters (Mothra), and something about Godzilla Counter Attack Coalition arsenal (Mazer tanks and Atragon submarine)
This mockumentary is so well done! This is the level of world-building I wish we had in the MonsterVerse and modern kaiju movies in general. Kaiju fan films like this are more thematically satisfying than most of the actual kaiju movies because they actually take the time to flesh out both the kaiju and the world they live in. In fact, I actually look forward to seeing the MonsterVerse fan films more than the actual MonsterVerse movies anymore because the fans do a much better job at characterizing the monsters, developing the world, and actually deliver on what people want to see from those movies.
This is one of the best fanmade Godzilla videos I've seen so far. The attention to detail, the framing, actually pretty much everything about this video is top notch. This is what RU-vid should be for.
This is the best thing I’ve seen in a long long time. Props to y’all for creating such a thoughtful and interesting take on the genre. Beyond impressed.
This is amazingly well done, reminds me of the classic suitmation Godzilla films. Godzilla's first attack on the city really similar to old techniques used in those films, such as Koichi Kawakita's Composite shots used in the Heisei Godzilla films. If the Legendary Godzilla films looked like Godzilla's first city scene here, they would be considered some of the best kaiju films.
As someone who grew up watching "Fantastic Dinosaurs of the Movies!" and was my first exposure to many giant monster films, the 1950's presentation, music usage and the reconstruction of the trailer footage but for a real kaiju setting hits such a nostalgic beat for me this thing hits a special place in my heart. The weaving and world building on display here and the foreshadowing of all the other things out there is excellent and is one of the most compelling and well realized fan-godzilla projects I have seen in a looooong time. I haven't been this invested in a fan-project for Godzilla since way back when Matt Frank was doing Godzilla Neo on dA back in the dark-ages of the Godzilla fandom, lol. All in all, this is peak kaiju media and a pinnacle for what fan-works in this fandom should be.
Out of all the found footage and analogue horror that focuses around Godzilla and the Superfauna, this one managed to keep me interested for the whole run time. It was genuinely interesting to watch and the usage of 3D animation was really good. What's also really nice to see is that this seems to be focusing on other lesser known monsters than just the main cast. Keep up the great work as always
I absolutely love how well put together this video is. The animations for the animals is superb, the acting and dedication to make it a vintage film really hit everything home, and even the little drawings you see that depict Godzilla, the power lines, the bombs, everything. It's all so beautifully put together it's unbelievable.
I’d love to see this series cover some of the alien races of the Toho mythos. The Mysterians and Xilians in particular could be cool for worldbuilding potential.
@@xx_squirtle8621 maybe they could use the idea in the monsterverse where ancient civillizations worshipped ghidorah, with the xiliens, venusians, and mysterians all respecting him as their master
6:33 oh damn these are haunting! Especially the victim who was found still convulsing. This series is absolutely amazing, and really looking forward to possible future entries
One of the best fan-made Godzilla videos I've ever seen. The old timey effects really make this whole video come together, and makes it feel very creepy. Keep up the amazing work man 👏🔥
This was AMAZING!!! The effects, the staging, the worldbuilding! It’s all so damn well done and thought out perfectly. I’d love to see a sequel delving into the 60s and 70s of Kaiju cinema/TV. I’d love to see this universes version of Ghidorah or Gigan! Hell, even Getting Gamera, Ultraman, Reptilicus, or any other obscure Kaiju that could be naturally woven into this universe would be even more awesome!
That, was really well done. Please do keep up your excellent work! You captured the feel of the post WW2 era newsreels, up until TV changed the industry forever, most perfectly. Having grown up in the 60's and 70's, I still remember many a black and white documentary circulating around the school systems I grew up in. Your project has that perfect feel.
Genuinely one of the most impressive fan films I've ever seen. If there's a chance for a sequel with Rodan and Mothra, (maybe even Ghidora) that would be spectacular.
This is by far the coolest found footage concept I've ever seen. The genius of having the original King Kong movie turn out to be a documentary that snowballed into all of this is fantastic. The sense of scale with the kaiju is well done as well !
This is sooo cool. You really captured that 50s style of old 50s monster movies. It looks like something that was made in the 50s and that not an easy thing to do. To capture that 50s feeling, but you did great with the looks and sounds too. (The music is like something from this time period.) all I am saying for a person who like Godzilla, King Kong, and mostly important B Sci Fi movies of the 50s. You did a great job of making it accurate to that time period. Hope they will be more like this. Hope you have a great day.
This is one of the most creative interpretations of a Godzilla/Kaiju universe I've ever seen! Astonishing work! I hope that we get to see more from this world!
i don't think i've ever seen a better blend of the main 3 kaiju film categories 1 - monster vs city, sometimes shot as a borderline horror or disaster movie (cloverfield or godzilla 1954) 2 - monster vs monster, good ol' monster wrestling (alot of showa-era films. but godzilla final wars strikes me as a particular example) 3 - monster vs military, kinda overlaps with 1 but this is a common climax to some films if it isn't the main point (shin godzilla. pacific rim) we will watch your career with great interest
15:27 I find it quite cute that the UN thought it could “destroy Godzilla.” People would look back on this documentary and realize, “this planet doesn’t belong to us. Ancient species owned this Earth long before mankind.”
Guys, this was amazing! I especially loved the "Fantastic Dinosaurs from the Movies" theme at the end. It was the vibe I was getting the whole video. Also, love the fun Easter Eggs, especially our boy, Doug. Keep it up!
The way you unified the 1920s-30s era of monster movies with the modern ones. The idea that these creatures are as they are now but seen through a 1900s lense is brilliant. I genuinely pogged seeing doug and the triceratops together. This is so damn engrossing excellent work.
Finally finished watching and that ruled. I love how absolutely terrifying the original Godzilla attack is and I'm looking forward to what's going to happen with the supposed "positives" in the giant mutant foods. Hyped for more episodes!
I actually got more out of this than the actual monsterverse films. And I really enjoy those, but this golden age presentation was so fun. I had a big smile watching this whole thing. Well done guys! I hope to see more of these!
The Man in The Suit and the Suitmation Trials are cool and all, but this is what Godzilla found footage SHOULD be. I want more of Lost Utopia Films Godzilla!!! This stuff needs more attention!
This is like a perfect modernization of the original King Kong and Godzilla as well as Godzilla Raids Again. I'd never thought those movies could be depicted as realistically as they are here. Please keep making more of these.
Best kaiju fan film ever! Would love to continue watching more of these Living with Monsters and kaiju found footage projects. WB and Legendary should produce stuff like this, possibly shown before the MonsterVerse films.
This is a work of art. I especially like the little details, like how they recreated the classic photograph of Godzilla looming up behind the mountain, from the original 1954 film, but with the Monsterverse Godzilla.
I love this. All of the kaiju fossils, documentaries and artifacts just sells this so well. Great creature design that keeps things familiar while also having them be distinct. 10/10, one of the best things I've ever seen.
