My Honda Civic Type R is incredibly fun but it's also my daily driver and commuter. This is what it's like to use the Type R as a civic.

Not a Honda person but the type R is a great alternative if you can't afford a BMW M3. I actually like this better then the previous type R. The previous type R was obnoxious. It looked like a overly modified car you would see in GTA 5 online. It would look cool in grand theft auto but not in real life.

As someone who daily commutes on 495 and route 9, I can attest to the frustration of left lane campers. I had a lady going 69mph on the left lane so I gave her a little high beam flash to be polite and not swerve around her. She moved over but as soon as I passed she immediately started tailgating me at undisclosed speeds until my exit🙄

I still don’t know how your able to drive so smooth. Even when you wheelspan pulling out of a junction, you still made it look super smooth and more importantly super controlled. Great video as always.

If this is bad traffic, I wish I lived there. Dallas, TX makes me never want to leave my house because bumper-to-bumper traffic exists from 6am-8pm.

I would love to test a Japanese turbo, but I have been driving German cars for the past 10 years and nothing else compares for me. The luxury and performance of my Audi or even vw is unmatched for the price. I have owned a couple Honda civics and all my motorcycles are Hondas. So I am a Honda fan. But in 2023 any R model including vw as their flagship “sports Car” should have no less than 400-500hp. I’m not paying 40-70k for 300-350hp(Honda type r, golf R, all 4 cylinder turbos basically) That’s absurd when I can get a Audi ttrs for 70k with 400hp and a chip to 600hp and a much more premium car. My 2004 Audi tt 225 has 300hp it’s a fast car but we are 20 years in the future no excuse for a sub 400hp/tq flag ship $50,000 car it costs nothing to add a cylinder and 100hp. A base model civic or sports car non turbo should have 300-350 and all turbos 400-500 minimum. Period for that kind of money.

The more Type R content the better. The lip on the glove box is still there!

I test drove one of these 2 years ago. It was a great driving experience. What really hit me was afterwards. I got out of the Type R and into my wife's car (2018 Odyssey) and for a couple moments I thought the car was literally broken. Compared with the tight, precise Type R, the minivan (which normally feels fine, and has pretty good handling for a minivan) felt so wobbly and vague that I thought I had a flat tire or something. That feeling went away after a while, but I'll never forget how incredibly refined that Type R Civiv was.

I’m still trying to figure out how you have one of these. Within a 300 mile radius, I can’t even find one to look at! 😩

I could probably get better gas mileage if I could stay off the accelerator but it's so hard not to push this car cause it is a lot of fun to drive and my android auto has done some weird stuff also like saying I'm not connected but all of my auto from my phone is coming thru but it's minor stuff and I put about 2k miles on mine

I've always wanted a Type-R, ever since the FK8 first came out, but I've been hesitant because of the awful roads we have here in Boston. I've read a lot of stories about Type-Rs blowing a tire from relatively small pot holes because of the low profile tires. Seeing videos of your experience with owning one of these in Boston is super valuable for me.

As someone that is considering this car and commutes to Boston (Route 3 to 95 South then onto the Pike), I greatly appreciate the real world experience and commentary versus another track video. Very helpful and informative. Thanks

Thank you for the content on Type R vs. SI. My SI comes in next month, and I can't get enough Civic content in general as anticipation builds :) Keep up the great work!

ACC is the absolute best feature to have in a car, I get your issues with it but for passes I usually disengage it with applying a bit of throttle and making it „passive“ while I’m closing up to the car I want to pass.
