I still love my M1 air it’s never missed a beat coming from windows and learning macOS hasn’t been hard at all. If your thinking of coming to Apple the M2 or M1 Air are such a pleasure to use. I can’t see myself having to buy another machine for at least the next 3 years. Love this channel.
I actually never hesitate(sometimes I don’t read the title) when I see your name. You’re quickly one of my favorites. The level of quality and information in these videos, while still being entertaining is incredible to me. Keep up the good work!!!
(Came from Instagram) I got the 512/16gb model and it’s perfect for my needs. I came from an average windows laptop which struggled from overheating and battery issues (maybe like 3 hours tops on a full charge). The air has been lasting me more than a full day on a single charge (light to mid productivity) and plenty of time doing editing in resolve (nothing crazy just simple 1080p and 4k editing). Temps are also great, doing light browsing it stays around 32-36 Celsius and during the editing it heats up but still nothing crazy (considering previous experience with my older laptop). Webcam and mic are also wayy better than I previously used so that was a pleasant upgrade. Overall my experience has been very positive and besides not knowing macOS very well which will get better with use I love this computer. To those wondering getting the 14” wouldn’t have been a better deal as it was $500 more than the speced out air.

I had the exact spec ordered too but Best Buy had the 14” on a deal for $1700 so now I m thinking what to do. I don’t need a pro but the price gap is so less and I’m getting a lot more for that.
In my opinion, STARLIGHT suits you better. While checking your pics in this vid holding the starlight, it really caught some attention and it was like the star of the pic. The midnight is okay but by far you won't recognize that it is a mac or apple, unless you'll see it closer. Starlight is such an elegant MacBook.
Exactly what I was looking for as a review ! Love your take also to stick with the base model vs what a lot of other RU-vidrs are saying which is to get the upgraded SSD.
Base model is enough and probably chances are whatever you end up doing you don't see the SSD speeds ruining your workflow.. HOWEVER, for developers I still need to run further testings!

I've been using the M2 air for a week now and I noticed a slight problem with the speakers. When on maximum volume, it would sometimes make this really annoying 'vibrating' / 'shaking' sound. I don't know how to explain it. But I think it might know the reason: since the speakers are built under the keyboard, and they're supposedly 'louder', it makes the keys vibrate which creates that annoying sound. I've noticed this the most on higher pitch sounds, like someone's voice, as opposed to bass sounds.
@@andresvidoza Ok im not the only one. I realized that it 'rattles'/'buzzes' more when I'm using a MacBook stand. but when I place it on my bed, it's less noticeable.
@votejj trust me you don't wanna notice it. but u could try watching any KSI video where he's always screaming. Your keyboard is gonna vibrate like crazy. I have to use my AirPods Pro whenever I watch something that has high frequencies. the bass is perfectly fine.
Great review, but I’m pretty sure the entire review community on the internet has totally lost the meaning of “long term” lol. This thing literally came out a month ago.
No I agree with you... Thats why on screen I put "long term". But yeah I agree it legit just came out a month ago. I'm however just trying to showcase all the use I've done with it every single day I;ve had it.. plus I'm still using it as my daily when it comes to everything else that is not related to video editing or photoediting.. Tbh I think the proper long term is about a year or so.. See how hardware ages, how software adapts and see if ssd and thermals are an issue.. the thing that sucks with tech is that by that time, there is a new laptop
@@andresvidoza this is totally true. In real life, long term is one to several years, but that kind of time is just not possible in tech years lol. With that being said, while I appreciate your honesty and openness, I wish more reviewers would put more accurate titles on their videos more related to “day to day use” as that’s more accurate. I wouldn't recommend the mod with the heat pad, it was shown the heat dissipate near the battery which makes the temperature around 45 C and can ruin the battery performance on short term
I'm still going to try it! If I fry the laptop at least you guys will know not to do it. I rather someone see me f*cking up rather than them ruining their laptops
@@andresvidoza A RU-vidr did this and fried their laptop so that other RU-vidrs don't ruin their laptops. The components may not be fried instantly but after repeated heating and cooling you'd wish you got AppleCare+
@@andresvidoza the mod would have negative long term effect on the batteries. You probably won't fry the battery right away, but constant high temp will definitely degrade the battery life. For the guy who suggested the mod, they think they know, but they actually don't know what they are doing.
@@RiverKingCA if I use this strictly in indoor optimal room temperature, I should be ok, right? Despite its portability, I don’t intend on using this in the outdoors at all, not even in the car. And also if I were to get a Macbook Air M2, 2TB of storage and 24GB of unified memory, I should be able to handle the XAVC S-I 4K codec natively without the need of proxies, correct?

(Came from Instagram!) Im about to order the 16GB ram M2 Air (otherwise base) since I feel like the RAM if anything should be upgraded - at idle, the system already uses 5GB ram 😅. Any more upgrades I would be in MBP territory, so I kept myself at this one upgrade. The RAM has the most performance benefit compared to the SSD upgrade from my research, so if you guys had to choose between one or the other, I'd take the 16gb upgrade. Also, take advantage of the student discount if you can guys, it knocks off $100 from the price and plus u get a $150 gift card on top of that! (USD)
What model do you have? If you have the base model, then it is slow. If you are a heavy user, then I suggest you to go after the base model of the 14 inch MacBook Pro. Keep in mind that the SSD is slow only on the base model as it uses only 1 NAND chip compared to 2 in the M1 Air. The MBA is targeted at a regular daily user, not at professionals. The M2 Air is an amazing laptop that does a killer job in everyday tasks such as web browsing, RU-vid and video calls. However, if you start to use it like a Pro, then it will become slower. Edit: I ran the SSD speed test on my MacBook and got 2690 for write and 2459 for read which means that the slow SSD problem is resolved with the 512 SSD model.

Was waiting for the rewiew since it launched, I am considering m2 air base for college (computer science engineering) the rewiew kinda helped. But is it better to get 16gb 256 m1 or 8gb 256 m2 ??

The AZERTY keyboard for QWERTY users is not ideal but it is not that bad. You get used to having the QWERTY keyboard virtual keys with AZERTY physical keys.
I think it is still not worth to buy M2 as most people don't use the m1 to its max (most people I know) Really like your videos ..... LOVE from INDIA ..
I got my M2 MacBook Air (512GB/16GB) for almost two weeks now and so far I have no complaint. For people who want to use for Photo/video editing, 512GB SSD should be the minimal requirement, so then it won't have any SSD performance issue. I got the Air not for the performance, but for its size; and I upgraded it to M2 is because on the road, for my usage, two thunderbolt ports are needed, so M1 was a pain. I just think for any purchase, people need to know exact what they want, and then make their purchase decision accordingly.
