Living with the Porsche 911 Carrera S - 991.1 

I’m really humbled by your message thank you so much! It did take a lot of effort but getting feedback like yours makes it really worth it! I’m still so early in this RU-vid career - only 10 vids in and not even a 100 subs yet but I couldn’t be prouder of this video and views/ responses it’s getting. Ooh i'm sure it looks great in Miami Blue - that's a really lovely colour! The only changes i would want to make on mine is the Sports steering wheel upgrade (with the nicer paddles), Red seatbelts (as i have a love of all things Red!) and perhaps the Joy Auto 'Apple Car play' upgrade on the PCM. However with all that being said - with out any of those 'nice to haves' this car is perfect as it is! Thanks for taking the time to comment and give feedback, its great to hear from other Porsche owners - i took a bit of time off - but new Porsche related vids to come soon!

I'm really hoping to head out to Silverstone at some point and take some of the Porsche precision driving lessons... would be great to learn how to master the car from the professionals and learn more about it. I also previously owned a 981 Cayman S - i loved that car!!!! Easily one of the best cars i have ever owned/driven - if i could i would have one of each! Loved the planted feeling of that car; the mid mounted engine set up could really be felt in the driving dynamics and i always got a bit of a buzz out of knowing the engine was right behind me - what a car! Living the dream indeed! Thanks again for reaching out - hope to have more Porsche vids soon!

It's the best feeling in the world when you see their little faces light up at the sight and sound of these wonderful machines and you are all enjoying it together! I truly believe the 991.1 iteration will always be remembered as one of the sweetest spots in the 911 story… its the ‘Goldilocks’ car - everything was just right… a greatest hits of what had gone before. Of course it’s not perfect nor to everyone’s taste - but what thing truly ever is? I hope the car brings you joy and happiness for as long as you have it! 😉

I’m a Porsche fan boy and spent many an hour on RU-vid watching Porsche related content and I also noticed the parent perspective wasn’t always covered - so I really wanted to do it - thank you for noticing that - it means a lot to me! If I can help fellow Porsche fans persuade their other halves to get a 911 off the back of this vid I’d be very happy with that! 😄

I totally agree! That is the first thing on my list for upgrades. I have been fortunate enough to have had the sport design wheel on my previous 997.2 carerra S and 981 cayman S… it’s so much better… I don’t feel like using the weird button ones on the steering that I have now… I usually use the PDK shifter stick - tapping it back and fourth in semi auto mode instead. However the Sport design paddles just feel lovely at the finger tips and as you said take the PDK experience to the next level! Should have come standard if you ask me! 🤔😉

Agree. I think it became standard for 991.2.

@Raashid Din I only watch the car stuff. Yours came up on a search as I'm looking to replace my 996.2 with a 997.2 or 991.1 so I watched them all! My phone and smart TV are as tech as I need to get 😉

Your absolutely right! Apple car play is a must! The PCM is literally the weakest part of the car. The Joy Auto solution seems to be the best option for the 991.1 that I have seen.

Thanks Ian! Some great suggestions there for sure. I’ve heard a lot about the soul performance kit - seen loads of vids too - definitely worth it!! The manual gear box on that car is perfection - it must dial the fun factor on the car to 11!! 😃

I've never driven a Corvette but would love to! The C8 is gorgeous - a very special car indeed and very different in nature and in its characteristics... both of these are legendary Marques - but the 911 is a car you would love to have said you owned at least once in your life... its just one of those cars! It is also one of the few true sports cars that scores well in the 'practicality' department and therefore was an easier sell when I was trying to convince my wife to let me get one! 😂

The Corvette is ugly and only driven by old bags in Florida wearing gold chains and white tube sox.

I have a 991s too. C8's are selling for around 150k with low miles here in Canada so about the same price as a 911s with very few options.

@@paull3179 Yeah, same here. It's insane. if I had a new C8 and enjoyed it for a few months I'd sell it for a huge profit at this point. Why not, they'll be available again in 1-2 years for MSRP with newer and better features.

I hear you Carlos - although I must say my mic set up on this video may not have done full justice to how great the exhaust actually sounded! With that being said the 997’s and older gens did have better sounding exhaust notes in my opinion! Nothing beats the great sound of an exhaust providing the soundtrack of a ‘spirited drive’ 😉

I always thought it was defined by the toy car you had as a kid and i had a little Ferrari Testarossa - so that was my dream car growing up... but eventually i fell in love with Porsches! Good luck finding your dream car - i'm sure you will be driving it very soon!! 😁
