She played a major role in avoiding a diplomatic solution to the war in Ukraine that has 50/50 chance of wiping out humanity. She is very dim and not very nice.
My God she comes across terribly here. Someone who doesn't know what she thinks or believes and is trying to do a Thick of It impersonation of what a right-winger would sound like.
I'm 20 minutes in and I'm struck by how dense and incompetent she seems. She is _literally_ like a character from The Thick Of It. OMG if this is the calibre of politician running our country, we are done for. On a similar level of unsuitability as Sunak.
After 20 minutes in, I am not focused on her but the revelation that politicians have zero say on anything and the civil service is basically recruiting on DEI basis through HR and those at the bottom of the civil service can remove or destroy those at the top because they aren’t pandered too. This is the driving force of wokery. The whole of the lower levels of civil service are also political activists on the left and extreme left. That is more important than her own inadequacies.
Russian propaganda seems to be the excuse for incompetence, the problem is they have no convictions. Her LBGT comments show she was only saying what she thought would make her popular.
That is what she literally said, and her reasoning for it is sound. Half the conservative party MP's are effectively lib-dems or blue dyed labour, she had to pander to them and try to be popular amongst them that is how party's work. Pointing at one set of comments and saying that is representative of all her core views is obviously dumb. If she was going to on all issues just say what she thought would make her popular she wouldnt have ended up resigning, because she wouldnt have tried doing anything differently or have been any different than Sunak who is a far better example of someone uninterested and unwilling to do anything unpopular with the MP's in the majority of the Tory party. If she was just trying to be popular with the Tory right-wing, grass roots or this youtube comment section she would have said many different things in the interview if you paid any attention. She wouldnt have been so stridently pro-Ukraine, she would have been far more anti-immigration and she would have pretty much never disagreed or clashed with ther interviewer.
@@drdeadred851 Your assessment is seriously flawed given you’re completely forgetting Truss used to be a Liberal Democrat. She was always a Leftist/Blairite Tory until she thought pretending to be some sort of Trumpist would make her fashionable.
Who cares? Are we Germany, Russia or the US? Let say it was the US, why do we care outside of the indirect effect countries like germany being dependent on Russian energy switching over has had on global prices increases? Is Russia a friend of the UK? Do we care about the damage done to the German economy? Do we care about what the US does in other countries with its military if we aren't involved? Russia is not a friend of the UK, its not even just neutral country towards the UK. The same can be said of the US and Germany, but unlike them Russia had recently attacked us by using incredibly dangerous chemical weapons on UK soil. If the reverse happened I equally wouldnt care as long as it didnt effect us, germany as part of the EU has harassed us for the last few years and the US is frankly a greater enemy of the UK than Russia could ever aspire to be. Even if you think that was somehow fake, which frankly from how little effort was made to cover it up I'd say its more likely it was done intentionally obviously by Russia as some form of threat, they have on many occasions directly threatened the UK and violated out airspace and waters. So again finally who cares? Given the political situation the answer seems pretty redundant anyway given germany was already trying to move away from Russian energy, which if anything probably indicates that Russia was the one to do it just to fuel this sort of questioning. If we had a real energy policy this would have literally no downside for us at all. End of the day whose side are you actually on? Are you pro-UK or pro-Russia? If its Russia just leave now and go enjoy the paradise you think exists there.
That is the best interview of Liz Truss I have heard so far. She seems thoroughly out of her depth and does not even appear particularly genuine. The fact that she became Prime Minister is shocking.
Listening with much interest. Now that she’s evolved from being a dangerous figure of fun to being a harmless figure of fun, she has become even more amusing. Enjoy.
@@robertcottam8824 the essential point about a democracy is that you listen to each opinion & make up your own mind & while Truss has a squeaky voice she worked in Industry, has appropriate qualifications & is passably competent at mathematics unlike pretty much every other holder of high office.
I would like someone to explain in detail what happened with the Bank of England when the Liz Truss financial collapse took place. A deep dive into the sale of those Guilt bonds etc etc etc. we know the big picture but explain the mechanics and the impact of the mini budget on interest rates and the dollar.
Absolutely, she is part of the establishment. She tried the same route of Oxford PPE to the corporate sector where she did not succeed particularly and then on to politics, or one of her first achievements was getting impregnated by a Tory MP who was set up to mentor her. She is a product of the Tufton Street think tanks she is 100% establishment material.
i 100% agree with Truss regarding the lax and total failure of scrutiny of the Bank of England's role in the collapse - they sold off the night of the budget before markets had any reaction, they caused it!
She is painful to listen to, and I speak as someone in broadly the same camp. Long silences, constant ‘what I am saying is…’. One reason for her downfall was an inability to articulate her own position in interviews.
Liz Truss essentially is a Narcissist, it is displayed within her smug facial expressions and the fact that she can’t admit a change of direction in her own politics. ‘I was right then and I’m right now’ even though the two things are completely different
She is not a conservative. I've always considered her a neo-liberal, although after watching this interview I must confess that she seems devoid of any principle whatsoever.
This woman is being judged more from her unusual voice and quirky mannerisms than the opinions she expresses. The WEF is a prime mover in how our countries decline. Anybody who comes closs to transgression is shamed, mocked and belittled personally. Granted, like most politicians, she is driven by her personal career considerations but her suggestions are no more radical than an 80's Thatcherite. And her intelligence is above your average MP's these days. Really. Look at some of them.
Propaganda on all sides exists, Russia has been used as scape goat a lot, but that doesnt taking the position that it is never the correct answer to point out "that is russian propaganda". Responding to a stupid one-sided position by taking the opposite extreme doesnt make you correct, it puts you in a stupid one-sided position on the other side.
Views are Radical. Asking British citizens to fight in Ukraine - is not right; rather finding peaceful solution as Foreign secretary, which is her job! Giving too much power to so called democratically selected people is wrong, independent Intelligence is needed to prevent dictatorships .......
> Tries to paint herself as Anti-Establishment > Spends the whole interview saying “It’s not fair to pick on people” and “I’m not going to say who the Establishment is” Could you imagine Trump saying this, he’d have never been elected even in the primary!
She says it should be 100,000 net migration a year not 700,000. A decade ago 100k that would have been too many. I can see a day when politicians dream about it being only 700,000. It’s clearly heading to 1-2 million a year, the trend is clear
Truss says legal migration is “too high” at 700,000 and should be more like 100,000. Too high? Surely if something is 600% higher than ideal, it’s out of control. If I only intend to spend £1,000 on a night out but instead spend £7,000, then clearly my spending isn’t “too high”. It’s out of control. Listening to her, I think she is part of the political consensus/problem rather than anything different. Similar to Blair, Miliband, Cameron, Boris and Starmer in her beliefs
Listening to her ramble on about transgenderism and ‘conversion therapy’ (which is actually just non-affirmative therapy - as all serious therapy should be) is like watching a fish try to solve a rubik’s cube. She hasn’t the first clue what any of this stuff means or its implications. Social conservative my arse.
Islamic immigration is just a SYMPTOM of our financial and banking system that loves millions of cheap workers and future consumers. Muslims are not running the financial and banking system, media or Hollywood destroying the West. It's another group.
I believe she has good conservative instincts, but she does not understand the righteous beliefs that motivate Russia, nor its military and defence-industrial strength that exceeds that of the West.
@@wundurra24 the West/ NeoCons/ Victoria Nuland should never ever of backed the coup against the then ELECTED government of Ukraine 9 bloody years ago. 14,000 people died BEFORE the invasion.
She’s also not Pro-Free Speech if she believes in Hate Speech Laws. Perhaps the most staggering thing in this interview was when she said “I’m Anti-Establishment” then 5 minutes later said “I want to preserve the status-quo”
I don't disagree with everything Liz says, but the title of the 2010 Conservative manifesto was "An invitation to join the Government of Britain". I am not sure 2010 Conservative voters would agree with Liz that they were voting for a smaller state. They were voting for a different state. The offer of the Conservative right is very different again to that of 2010. Liz sounds quite sensible when she isn't spouting lazy, unintellectual nonsense about "the deep state", "the Establishment" and wokery, especially on Ukraine.
Truss: I compromised to become PM in this broken system then found I still had no power, this is my advice for others to succeed where I failed... Interviewer: you compromised! Truss: .... Interviewer: you compromised! Comments: you failed! Me: this is fine
@LambdaTheory I don't question that. I also don't care if you don't like your former PM. I care if there is hope for a better future, this video suggests people would rather bicker.
20:17 “In terms of other threats facing the West, particularly Britain and America, many people are concerned about demographic changes: the decline in the white population…” This question is racist.
