Wow! You are my hero for the day! I’ve been having a tremendously bad day, and seeing this wonderful Liza concert is the first thing that made the day seem survivable. I really appreciate you sharing.
I've been looking for this for years since the original video was deleted in like 2015 or something! I always watch this video because of her version of Lew Pollack's "That's A-Plenty" ❤
Saw this act on Sullivan. Not great on Sullivan and not great here. 6 yrs later she “arrived” all the rest was learning plus “momma” was still alive and Liza was in that shadow as well
You’ve perfected the art of saying a lot without making any real point. She was very young here. Had you “arrived” at her age here? Had the great Judy Garland arrived at this age? Legends aren’t born over night, we can all agree that study, practice, mentorship and mistakes sculpt the raw talent that these two legendary performers have. To suggest Judy somehow had to go for her daughter to step out of her shadow is asinine and very insensitive. These are real life human beings you are talking about, a devoted mother and daughter. Genuine talent always finds a way to blossom and bloom, and here we see a Liza that had studied the French language in Paris, was about to be mentored by Charles Aznavour, would star alongside Albert Finney in England in ‘Charlie Bubbles’ to return to the States to win the role of Pookie Adams in her oscar-nominated performance in The Sterile Cuckoo… she would go on to fight for role of Sally Bowles with the sponsorship of Kander & Ebb (having won a Tony in their musical Flora The Red Menace)… all this when JUDY WAS ALIVE. Liza was singing the song ‘Cabaret’ in her shows in the late 60s, when Judy was still alive. She was lobbying for the role that would eventually win her an oscar. Destined to work with Fosse. She would have starred as Sally Bowles (as according to Barbra Streisand's new autobiography, she had passed up on the offer) and later met Halston, partied at Studio 54… Liza’s star was rising irregardless of Judy being alive or passing away. The writing is already on the wall. You’re just not very well informed.
