The role of Darna is iconic, yes. But not all Darna movies and TV series hit it big. While some people say that Darna makes a star, the reverse may apply- that people watch Darna because she was played by their favorite actress! So, I believe that it is a mistake to think that a pretty girl only has to wear the costume, and the cash register automatically rings. The role is still a dice roll, just like Dyesebel and other Filipino fantasy superheroine characters. Our baby girl Hopie has never been kissed onscreen, in keeping with an image. Would her handlers gamble on losing that image for a Darna role? Would they show skin? Or would they use a body-hugging full body suit? There are pro's and con's for both sides of the argument, and no side represents a sure thing. In this world of bashers and haters however, expect strong negativity in anything you do. Why gamble? Didn't Liza depend on a formidable combination of talent, super good looks and charisma to create the iconic role of Agnes in "Forevermore"? Didn't she depend on the same characteristics, in addition to her strong love team-up with Quen to join the 9- figure earnings in 2 out of 2 movies? Maybe what I'm saying is: The Philippine entertainment industry 'may' be open to a new Darna movie or teleserye, But 'for sure' Liza's career will flourish without it. Opinion ko lang po.
