Most romantic songs are hard to relate to as an ace person but lord I FEEL this. I did go on a ‘date’ with myself. Felt more natural than forcing myself to date. I dressed up, felt good, ate good food, had good drink, I came home light as air on my feet when I folded my dress. Lizzo’s right. I’m terrible at romance, but I’m not lonely, I’m happy.

To me, this song is so self-empowering. Because as person who identifies as aromantic/asexual (questioning) I've been told/it has been implied in my conversations with people about my sexuality that I will "find the one eventually", a soulmate essentially. And in retrospect, I've realized I've wanted to say to them that I already have a soulmate, myself, and that I'm content with not ever "finding the one". That's all. I AM SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS. Both of them are my idols, they've inspired me to be who I am and they got me out of my self-esteem issues. They really do deserve more , cause I know they have also made such an impact on many others lives. It's just so much what they have done for me, I can't thank them all of that support and kindness nobody has ever given to me although it isn't physically, because not even the most worthy thing is enough to pay them for their gratitude. In the past, whenever I got excited about someone I'd be rejected and I'd feel like the only person in the world who had never had a romantic relationship. And then I'd get depressed for a long time until I could finally break the cycle and fall in love with myself. Today I was panicking because I didn't want to repeat the cycle but this song helped me remember that even if nothing happens with him I'll still have myself.
