One has to wonder if it was possible to sustain or even surpass such a high level of artistry found on Give Me A Minute and Five Seconds Flat and then here comes Broken Glass conquering the seemingly impossible
One measure before the 2nd verse the meter changes to 3/4 and there is this little 16th note piano run that just kills me every time. Don’t know if Lizzy or a producer put that in but it’s little genius moves like this that contribute to the whole weirdness (and weirdness used here is certainly a compliment) of this song. Quickly becoming one of my Lizzy Favs and it’s not even released yet.
OK just heard this live last night for the very first time & tried to decipher the vocoder bridge & im like 98% sure it’s I want you now And then i dont And every word is a landmine i hold the glass against your throat But I can't do it this time it might seem like i loved you but i just don’t want to be alone
Lyrics: Broken glass on the table Pick it up, hold it to your throat I can see who you are now that the windows broke Drop of blood on the carpet Didn’t think it would go this far Don’t know why I held on this long and here we are I know you’ve been hurt, but you did it first, to me It started with the end Broken glass, again Maybe it doesn’t matter Who the blame gets assigned to next Nothing's ever the way that I remember it You know I've been hurt, did I do it worse to you? It started with the end Broken glass, again Again I want you back And then I'll call And every word's a weapon I'll hold the glass against your throat But I can't do it this time It hurts me like, I loved you first(?) I deserve more to mean it all(?) It started with the end Broken glass, again We're coming to the end Breaking glass
