I think everyone that grew up to this song knows the entire song by heart ❤️. When music was good. In my opinion the '80s and '90s will always have the best music 💯
@@CheaOfficial I completely understand. It takes time to find the right beat & rhyme in old vibes. It's great to listen to all sounds of music. Plus, I'm looking forward to the show in September. One thing i can say, back in the day, it was all about "LOW BASS in sound". Plus, each rapper had their own beat style. Today, all sound the same. Personal opinion of course. Peace...
This song absolutely blew me away in the 80's. This song still blows me away today. Not many people could have known that rap could be performed and recorded in this tender delicate style.
here's a similar track from around the same time from the same guy who wrote and produced this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oZgSv9uyHtk.html
*_This song and Heavy D & The Boys' "Don't You Know" were the first two rap ballads. Although LL COOL J's "I Need Love" released first, Heavy D said in an interview, that his ballad was completed BEFORE LL COOL J's track but "I Need Love" hit the radio waves first and so rap fans swill always recall that LL COOL J's song was officially the first rap ballad._* 🧐
When I was in high school, LL Cool J moved down the block from me. There were a bunch of celebrities that lived nearby, but LL's career was on fire and my friends & I were huge fans, sooo... we decided to welcome him to the neighborhood (I'm cringing as I'm sharing this), We walked up to his door & rang the bell, someone answered the door (later learned it was one of his bodyguards) & asked if he could help us. My friends didn't say anything so I tried to stay cool & blurted out "Hi! Is LL home?", like a kid knocking on a friend's door to come out to play. The guy stared at us for what felt like eternity before he said no "LL" isn't home (he emphasized the LL which I'm assuming meant no one who knows him actually calls him that😂) But it wasn't a total fail, my friends had started cracking up laughing after I spoke up & apparently decided to hell with dignity lol. Eventually the guy let us inside, we sat at the kitchen island bar and he gave us drinks (non alcoholic). LL was, in fact, not home. After that day we'd run into him many times, never knowing if he found out about the girls who rang his doorbell
Funny story Meredith and you and your friends must of thought you were cool running into LL Cool J though? Did he use to talk to you or was he to cool back then to talk to girls? 😆😂😉💚🦹♀️
One of or the only best love ballad rap songs. I just watch LL Cool J on NCIS, Los Angeles, and I can't get over how young he is in this video. The 80s and 90s had the greatest music! I love seeing bands that were so famous back then, still going strong and still brings in the big crowds and you know all the words to their songs! LL Cool J, never goes out of style, his music or his acting. And I still love, "Mama said knock you out
Just listened to ur interview on "Fresh Air", u said, "at the time, admitting u needed love didn't make u feel soft, u were only stating a fact", u asked, & the Universe blessed u with a good woman whom you've been with for a very long time, bless u, ur a good man! 😇🥳🥳💚
I feel the same! I grew up around jazz, my dads a musician and owned a few real estate companies but he played lots of cool music, he wasn't sure about rap though or heavy metal lol, but having six kids, we all had our favorite music and some of us played musical instruments. One of my brothers was a heavy metal drummer and played at the Troubadour in L.A. a few times. I was totally into heavy metal but loved alternative rock, too. We were lucky we each had all kinds of electronics to play our music (my poor parents, lol).. but this from LL COOL J is still one of the best rap ballad love songs to this day. 😁
My late husband 💟 had dedicated & would sing this song to me. This was the 1st song he ever sang to me. My Kevin passed away in 2006. 🎵 I miss him so much, but, this song makes me smile. Thanks LL. 💕
I absolutely loved this record when I was 16. 37 years later - I still know it off by heart and still love it. The look on my late partners face when I started singing it in the car one day after we'd been together over 20 years! It is a brilliant track and shows we all need love and its not soft of a man to admit it. Oh and I want that tracksuit! ❤
I remember watching this on BET Video Soul in 1987, I always thought this was LL Cool J's best song. I know the public will always say Mamma said knock you out was his best, but there were so many messages in the I need love song that resonated with me. Because most guys spend their whole lives looking for that special woman to share their life with.
Yes I. Remember me and my girl went to see LL I was holding her then LL came back on stage and rap this she was like gone ran right to the front of the stage did not say a word to me she just took off lol but I was happy she was happy oh she is now my wife of 21 years
First slow jam rap ..Ladies Love Cool J...Oooooh baby I got my tickets to the F.O.R.C.E Concert ..I'm sooooo excited...And he bringing the crew .. OMGEEEEEEE
@Maurice Clemons When I was a kid I use to wish to go to the future but now as a 44 year old I wish I can go back to the 80s and relive the 80s and 90s all over again. Life was better back then in my opinion. Be safe out there 🙏👍
40 here, was a boy rocking out to this, now a man who know when to put this on and slide in the shower with my girl. I respect this song for it's amazing what happens next when you play it in your 40s lol.
@@ginaartiglio8978 this song came out in the 80s to be a teenager when this song came out would mean you where born in the 70s I'm guessing your in your 40s?
You can definitely feel ll cool j OG lyrics of the early 1980s and 1990s His still a super star from hip hop to NCIS LA to lip sync battle LL cool J definitely Goat 🕊️ Of peace ✌️
@@kensley94 exactly. This is as crazy new when Fantasy by Old dirty Bastard came out w mariah carey AND Maria Carey's team said it was bad for her image. And she ended up making the first R n B mixed w Hip Hop. Her Team didn't believe in it and the song became number 1 on the billboards for I think a month
@@DeathHelper420 What? Mariah Carey's "Fantasy" ended up becoming the "first R&B mixed with hip hop'?? That song came out in 1995. Keith Sweat's "Why Me Baby" featuring LL came out all the way back in 1992. I can name about 10 other songs of the R&B-hip hop combo that preceded the release of Fantasy.
It seemed like so long ago that dark skin women were being represented as beautiful in music videos now it just a bunch of white and mixed girls being used as props
i was born in the early 2000s, and i'd have to agree with most of these people here. rap and hip-hop today is nowhere near as good as old-school. i'm young, and i wasn't born during the time this song came out, but i'm blessed to have been exposed to it. i'd have to thank my parents for that.
When I'm alone in my room Sometimes I stare at the wall And in the back of my mind I hear my conscience call Telling me I need a girl who's as sweet as a dove For the first time in my life, I see I need love There I was, giggling about the games That I had played with many hearts and I'm not saying no names Then the thought occurred, Tear drops made my eyes burn As I said to myself, "Look what you've done to her" I can feel it inside, I can't explain how it feels All I know is that I'll never dish another raw deal Playing make believe, pretending that I'm true Holding in my laugh as I say that I love you Saying amore, kissing you on the ear Whispering "I love you" and "I'll always be near" Although I often reminisce, I can't believe that I've found A desire for true love, floating around Inside my soul, because my soul is cold One half of me deserves to be this way till I'm old But the other half, needs affection and joy And the warmth that is created by a girl and a boy I need love I need love Romance, sheer delight, how sweet I've got to find me a girl to make my life complete You can scratch my back, we'll get cozy and huddle I'll lay down my jacket so you can walk over a puddle Give you a rose, pull out your chair before we eat Kiss you on the cheek and say "Ooh girl, you're so sweet" It's De Ja Vu, whenever I'm with you I can go on forever telling you what I'll do But where you at? You're neither here nor there I swear, I can't find you anywhere Damn sure you ain't in my closet, or under my rug This love search, is really making me bugged And if you know who you are, why don't you make yourself seen? Take a chance with my love and you'll find out what I mean Fantasies can run, but they can't hide And when I find you I'ma pour all my love inside I need love I need love I wanna kiss you, hold you, never scold you, just love you Suck on your neck, caress you and rub you Grind, mold, and never be alone If you're not standing next to me you're on the phone Can't you hear it in my voice? I need love bad I've got money but love's something I never had I need your ruby red lips, sweet face and all I love you more than a man, who's ten feet tall I watch the sun rise, in your eyes We're so in love, when we hug, we become paralyzed Our bodies explode in extacy unreal You're as soft as a pillow and I'm as hard as steel It's like a dream land, I can't lie, I've never been there Maybe this is an experience that me and you can share Clean and unsoiled, yet sweaty and wet I swear to you, this is something I'll never forget I need love I need love See what I mean? I've changed, I'm no longer A playboy on the run, I need something that's stronger Friendship, trust, honor respect, admiration This whole experience has been such a revelation It's taught me love, and how to be a real man To always be considerate and do all I can Protect you, you're my lady and you mean so much My body tingles all over with the slightest touch Of your hand, and understand, I'll be frozen in time Till we meet face to face and you tell me you're mine If I find you girl, I swear I'll be a good man I'm not gonna leave it, in destiny's hand I can't sit and wait, for my princess to arrive I gotta struggle and fight, to keep my dream alive I'd search the whole world for that special girl And when I finally find you, watch our love unfurl I need love I need love Girl, listen to me. When I be sitting in my room, all alone, staring at the wall, Fantasies, they go through my mind. And, I've come to realize that, I need true love. And if you want to give it to me girl, make yourself seen. I'll be waiting, I love you.
I was born in 95 and I'm 20 years old and I feel like the 80's and 90's was the best time to be alive because of hip hop sports and everything it's like that time frame was so dope.. Just look at how everybody dressed and listen to the music..
Hip Hop has been and will always be fantastic and beautiful, I think you're excluding yourself from the culture by making a statement like that. Dope MCs are still around and nostalgia blurs your vision bro
Im 21 and still jamming to this, 60s-90s will always be my taste in music, i love oldies tho and i mean like james brown, brenton woods, and billy stewart
