I’ve so many happy memories of riding this wonderful railway from Ruabon to Barmouth Junction, 54 miles of amazing scenery. I also rode over it on the last week of operation after the flood. We were shunted from Bala Junction to Bala town and put on a bus to Llangollen. Still say it should have been kept either for possible future use or a cycle/walking trail. So sad. Thanks. 🚂🚴♂️👣🇺🇦
Brilliant video Steve. Having read about the line in-depth and the washout which effectively albeit prematurely closed the line it's amazing to see it from the air and the magnitude of the destruction it caused 4.17. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, spot on. The section at 4.17 where the cows are all resting. Actually only a small section of embankment and if it were to happen to a railway today,it would be repaired. Was just used as an excuse to close the line as you say, prematurely. Would be great if the Llangollen Railway could extend to Bala Town one day(as many have said) with intermediate stations reopened. Nothing is impossible.
