What a refreshing change to hear from supporters no bitterness at all that a player is leaving them as you normally get some snide remarks about that player👍 Also I’ve never been one too say anything bad about where the player comes from in this case Bournemouth why should fans criticise a player coming to their club from another club it’s not as though we’ve watched every game he plays like you lads have it’s madness trying to rate a player if you’re lucky enough to have seen half a dozen times play for that club🤷‍♂️ Again you lads have been spot on with Eddie Howe & Mad dog (Jason Tindall 😉) and like I’ve said before I wouldn’t swap Howe for any manager including Pep what he has done in 2.5 years is remarkable and it really does go under the radar while we still have some of our championship players in the squad. I think Kelly will play left back as at the moment we play Lewis Hall who only came into the side towards the back end of the season as Eddie saw flaws in his defensive game more so his positional side of his game not his ability as he played more of a midfield player in his time at Chelsea and got converted into a left back in an emergency situation. Yes Matt Ritchie has sadly left the club I had hoped he would take his coaching badges and stay at the club in that capacity he will be missed because he is a first class professional 👍 Once again thank you for the honesty about Kelly I look forward to watching him next season. Nice Video guys from NUFC fan. Dan Burn is now playing LCB while Lewis Hall who will sign on 1st July after completion of his loan to buy deal was our starting LB for 7 of the last 9 games and will probably be our starting LB next season. I suspect Lloyd Kelly will be back up LB and may start over Dan Burn as LCB until Botman is fit in Jan/Feb then compete with him, He may be also used at LB to rest Lewis Hall periodically who is still 19. I feel Lloyd Kelly will be Dan Burns replacement long term as Dan Burn is aging and is being looked at as at least a squad player for the future depth and probably compete with Botman for the LCB position.

Me personally he was ok , he wouldn’t be in my first 11 on match day and no way in front out 2 main CB and Kerkez , reads the game well , versatile and good in the air but way too slow on the ball should of gone to Italy would of suited him better

What a pair of lads, fair play to some real positive fans, super friendly and down to earth. Bournemouth seem to lose their players but get better year on year, or at least they are consistent. Now with Iraola masterminding the team, Solanke firing and talents like Kerkes, Semenyo and others, they look really like a team you'd hate to play against (certainly I did last season, as a newcastle fan). Good luck in the market and next season lads!

Kelly is top top player.. Shame that he has left AFCB but we move. Stay injury free and will be England World Cup 2026 squad. Unfortunately, playing for a big Top 8 club seems to be very helpful

Thanks for the appraisal of Kelly great to see no bitterness towards the lad agree on the snake but Kelly seems like a schar type of player (not as good imo )at the moment. Left back wise Hall is looking decent so it could be a filling in role to start with . Don't say injury to Newcastle

Sounds promising for the Toon but I’m concerned about the injuries. NUFC don’t need another Callum Wilson. Talent is one thing but we cant be carrying another player, talent aside, always being afraid he’ll break at any point, just like Wilson

That thing you said about him being good at Lb so him occasionally being told to go out there even though he’s better at CH. yeah… I can see Howe doing that rather than playing Burn out there (especially with Botman injured until Christmas). Re his injuries, we should have the squad depth to cover that (Burn likely to start the season at LCH, Hall LB, Targett and Trippier can also play there). His biggest threat is the development of Lewis Hall at Lb who is very highly rated (cost 30m from Chelsea)

Tbf most Villa fans say Mings is their worst defender - think it's more the character he brings whilst also been a half decent CB. Anyway, Toon fan and really enjoyed the video, hate it when fans turn on their players when they leave so it's good to see you both speak so highly and respect his decision to take on a new challenge. Like many others have pointed out Hall is growing into our first choice LB, but Howe does seem to like using Burn there for the height and physicality so wouldn't be surprised to see Kelly playingy LB quite a bit too. I can't agree that Kelly is better than Schar though, Schar is our best CB -age isn't on his side and he's never been quick though. Like you mentioned though Kelly would be more LCB so again with Botman's injury plenty of opportunities to play. I wasn't one of the fans underwhelmed by the links, free transfers are low risk and we need depth. Would like to see another CB come in though, Botman's injury and Schar's age makes us a bit vulnerable back there.

Just want to say lads thanks for your honesty and like you We Love Eddie.You know next lads all the talk be about England job and Eddie will be favourite. But u know what I’m not sure England is for Eddie yet he wants to win some thing for us and I know he Bournemouth but I think NUFC he really has fallen in love with us the area and the People we have beautiful places to see coast line etc despite what the National Media say . Eddie works so hard he probably never Visits them Lol. We never take his hard work for granted just hope When England comes it’s No think he likes every day coaching players and going round country watching players coaching every now and again just now is too soon. I know they is a lot of outside Pressure from the Media where Eddie is concerned but fans here love him except social media rubbish and they be the same again next season especially talksport. Good Luck to Bournemouth for next season just not against us but again seems lately we just don’t turn up which is unlike Eddies team.Lol

Newcastle fan, good video guys. Good to see what to expect, only concern is the couple of injuries, and he's mid-20's and never been linked with a top 6/7 club until now and because he's free. So is he good standard for lower down the league, or can he make it to be good standard in the top 6/7. Still to be seen, but as a free transfer, it's great business for us.

Botman's out for another 6 months, so if Kelly's definitely coming in then he's gonna be the main man at left centre-back for a good while. So it's good to hear he's got the chops, coz as a Newcastle fan I've just not seen enough of him.

I actually think it’s a very smart signing, Botman looks to be out for a while and he can play centre back and left back great for squad depth and from what I’ve seen he seems a bit of a leader on the pitch can’t go wrong on a free.. under Eddie he could make the England squad in the future and I would love to see that happen, great insight lads cheers👏

Great video and analysis. I think the points that Newcastle are currently try to fill are partially covered by Lloyd Kelly. The issue currently is that there are only 2 fit senior newcastle centre halfs in the squad, Schar and Burn. Botman and Lascelles are both out until at least christmas with injuries. So he is defintely being brought in so that we have some options and for free is a no brainer. However, like you said he could miss some games himself through injury, which is not ideal at all. Also his ball playing skills are not good enough (yet) for him to be a permenant replacement in the long term to some like Schar (who is now starting to reach the end of his life span as a top CB, maybe he has 2 good years left in him) and when fit Botman. Therefore I think he will be used sparingly across the back and will most likely come in when others are injured, depending on if Eddie trust Hall at left back or not yet to be there full time.
