An LMIA is most often required to hire a foreign worker in Canada. Whether you are overseas, already in Canada and need to extend your status, or require 50 points to increase your score in Express Entry, finding an LMIA can be a challenge. It tends to be easiest for open work permit holders who are already working in Canada. It is slightly more challenging for an applicant in Canada without work status, and is most challenging for overseas applicants who do not have the opportunity to meet the employer face to face. Be cautious of recruiters from overseas and do your own research.
In this video, I outline 3 resources you can take advantage of to simplify your LMIA job search and help you understand the basics.
Beware of recruiters, consultants, agents, lawyers, or any immigration company that charges a foreign worker for an LMIA. As an LMIA constitutes a job offer, it is illegal almost anywhere in the world for an employer, or any middle man (consultant, agent, lawyer) to charge you for job offer. In Canada this is considered fraud and an offence punishable by jail time.
If your employer or consultant asks you for money, and it's for the LMIA and on the basis of the job offer, you may be eligible for a Vulnerable Open Work Permit if you are in Canada. Only pay for reasonable work permit processing charges and be sure to have a clear breakdown of what you are paying for. Be wary of anyone who is both representing the employer and you, as this is a conflict of interest. You do not need to use the same consultant or lawyer that has been paid by the employer to recruit you for a genuine job for your work permit application as well. Remember, the LMIA is property of the employer, not the consultant and be sure to request a clear breakdown of charges.
If you are recruited for an LMIA job and require work permit processing, my colleague will handle your work permit application for a flat rate of $2500 for an LMIA based work permit submission.

I’ve been trying for LMIA for few months now and the sad truth is that you can only get it by paying minimum 25k to 30k

Thanks for your comment. Here’s what you should do: I am ashamed of it and how frequently this is happening. There are a few things you can do to prevent this from happening: 1) Report to Service Canada - Integrity Services Branch 2) Report Job bank posting 3) Report to IRCC - Immigration Fraud The only way this system will become fair is through transparency. Additionally, if a recruiter or consultant is involved, or course if they have a provincial recruitment license, it can be jeopardized as this is unlawful practice.

At around 16:20, you mentioned the flagpole. I never heard of that. Can you make a video on how to flagpole? Can someone who was born in Europe flagpole? If someone was deported was deported/barred from the US, can they still flagpole?
@sjpimmigration
@sjpimmigration 4 месяца назад
Most nationalities if not all, can flagpole if they are already in Canada on valid status and their work permit application qualifies as one that can be made at the port of entry, depends on LMIA exemption or LMIA basis. You are being refused entry to the USA (administratively) when you flagpole to go back to Canada and process your application. If that person was deported/barred from USA it would depend on reason, and that could prohibit them even travelling to Canada, for criminality most definitely.

@@sjpimmigration Thank you so much for your quick response. I believe a paperwork/ procedure mistake was the reason for his bar. I can double-check with them. Thank you for all that you do!

Recently, I have been in touch with a consultant based in Adelaide, Australia, who claims to be an authorized recruiter for several approved LIMA jobs. However, this individual is demanding CAD 38,000 for processing fees from individuals who are interested in these jobs. Several individuals have already paid this consultant CAD 38,000 to obtain work permits with LIMA-approved employers. This raises concerns about the integrity of the program and the potential for exploitation of vulnerable individuals seeking employment opportunities in Canada. It is disappointing to see that while the Canadian government is working to bring employees to Canada through the LIMA program, there are individuals using it as a means of making money dishonestly. Paying CAD 38,000 for entry-level jobs in Canada is not a reasonable expectation for anyone seeking a better future.

Of course, this is complete and total fraud. To eliminate this we require these consultants whether licensed or not, to be reported as well as the employers they represent to maintain the integrity of the system. I’d love to have more information and send this information to the right people in govt. You can communicate with me at steven@sjpimmigration.com.

Nice video……but I’ve tried this a lot. And the truth is nobody is replying as the employers registered over here are only interested in selling LMIAs for 30-40k CAD. Illegal way of immigration, Canada should be ashamed of.

keep all of the communication records between you and the employers or those agents who sell LMIA and report to IRCC. The more we report, the more attention IRCC will pay to it.
