The LMT Lebanon contract AR15 is a rare rifle because it's not a regular production item for LMT. LMT manufactures a number of AR/M16's for various government agencies globally. This Lebanese rifle is a contract overrun rifle.

I've purchased multiple LMT products over the years, (3 uppers, 1 lower, & 1 complete rifle) along with a host of small part and all of it has been top notch with zero issues. On top of that, technical support from the LMT staff has been fantastic. LMT is my #1 go to AR supplier.

I wonder if the civilian ownership of ARs in the USA has caused the international interest in the AR as their military rifle. A few years ago, people mistakenly believed the AR was a fragile jam-tastic rifle that would fail under the slightest adversity. But all these torture tests civilians did and made videos of showed otherwise.
@MARCBMWM3

hello sir, allow me to answer that question easily as a middle-eastener living in Lebanon, whatever is made in the us is considered extremely high quality and this is rooted since forever from clothes to cars when they were made in the USA people here paid premium $ to get their hands on them from cars like Buick and Cadillac and Desotto were considered top notch to home appliances to tools, this is why here in the middle east they like ar's and american trucks and american clothing and brands like Mcdonalds and Starbucks and General electric, colt firearms winchester remington

The misinformation about the M16 got a lot of traction back in the 70's and 80's but started to subside in the 90's and 2000's as more people started shooting them. Even the detractors soon realized it's incredibly reliable, accurate and really is the gold standard for modern rifles. Our allies have been ditching domestically designed small arms like the FAMAS in France and moving over to firearms based on the M16 (in their case the HK416). If you check out the M16 on Wikipedia and look at the list of users, you'll find an incredible number of countries that now use it in some capacity. It's even replacing the AK in many regions of the world as the preferred small arm of choice.

If there was something truly wrong with the effectiveness of the AR15 then the U.S. would have switched much earlier to a different rifle, the same way we got rid of the Krag rifle after we faced the Spanish and the 8mm mauser and the M14 after we encountered the AK47 for the first time

The same as the AR 180 that is a fantastic tool I've found that by owning one that had only one failure that wasn't the tool but the amunition that caused it 😳

I think the ARs proliferation of accessories and subsequent adaptability was a response or effect of the GWOT and in turn that has caused international interest.

The gray coating on the buffer tube. Is "Dry Film Lube." Per mil-spec, the inside of the buffer tube and upper receiver should have dry film lube. Currently not sure if this is still mil-spec per se. However, BCM, Delton do dry film lube on their upper receivers and buffer tubes. I would assume, FN does it too. But can't verify that. I won't use a upper receiver unless it has dry film lube. Because you can significantly use less oil/grease on the BCG. Makes for a cleaner running upper. And you still get the full effect of a properly lubed upper/BCG.

When a government comes to ask you for a rifle contract you pretty much tell them the largest asking price, if the client expects the asking price then the company cannot sell them to the civilian market below what the contract prices go for.

LMT: Upper Receiver: • Made from one piece of metal and is by far the strongest handguard in the AR world. Offers unparalleled zero with IR/lasers/optics etc.. there is 0 debate with this. Offers a QD barrel change system with incredible return to zero, that requires only a torx key to use. • Upper receiver has "speed bumps" on the bottom that puts tension against the lower receiver which removes slop but still allows for easy disassembly. • The barrel is cryogenically treated / chrome lined or stainless options • The barrel has an extended barrel extension which increases surface area for better heat transfer and provides a more secure setup. • The gas port is drilled at 45 degrees which greatly increases barrel life by preventing overgassing symptoms due to worn-out gas ports. • The gas block is pressed on and pinned. •Gas tubes are straight which greatly increases their durability during high volumes of fire. The bends on a traditional gas tube are weak points since heat concentrates in those areas and allows the gas tube to fail. BCG: Bolt: • Stronger material: The bolt is made from a proprietary metal that LMT won't disclose, they claim it's significantly stronger than 9310 and C-158 that the military uses. • Full supported bolt face: Allows for even pressures around the case rim which reduces rim separation • Reshaped lugs: The lugs have relief cuts that relieve stress and radiused cuts that prevent cracking due to stress concentrations. • Radius Ring: There is a relief ring behind the lugs to further prevent breakages. •Removed lug: The lug opposite of the extractor is removed to relieve stress on the lugs right next to the extractor. A good analogy for this (which someone else used) is to imagine carrying a big box with the sides being north, south, east, and west to make it easier to explain. Each person uses two hands, pretend that those are the lugs. The north side can't have a person helping because that's where the extractor is. If you have a person on the south side, the left hand of the west side and the right hand of the east side will carry more weight than the others because the south side is being lifted. Removing the person on the south side allows the weight to be evenly distributed. • Extractor: It has a lobster tail design that uses two springs, this puts more pressure on the case for a stronger grip on the case during extraction. The spring location is further away from the cam hole to increase the material around the cam which makes the hole stronger. • Bolt Coating: Bolt is hard chrome Carrier: • Cam path: It is redesigned to increase lock time, this allows the pressures to drop which allows for easier extraction and less gas deposited into the receiver. Extended bolt shoulder: It is longer to help the bolt alignment and it centers the carrier inside the barrel extension. These enhancements reduce stress on the cam pin. • Gas port: The gas key and carrier have a split gas port which puts more even pressure on the bolt tail. • Carrier rails: The rails have relief cuts to help channel fouling away from the rail path. • Exhaust ports: The carrier has an added exhaust port that vents waste gasses faster to prevent fouling and added an auxiliary exhaust port to prevent excessive gas from shorter/suppressed barrels. Lower Receiver: Lower Receiver: The lower receiver has an ambidextrous magazine and bolt release, AND an ambidextrous bolt catch. • The threads for the buffer tube are timed so that every LMT buffer tube will sit in the same exact position. • The buffer tube also has timed threads along with a lip on the front that rests against the buffer detent. This allows for easy repairs in the field, the lip prevents over rotation from applying excessive torque to the castle nut. As far as how they compare: • LMT upper receivers are monolithic and not a two piece like KAC's or any other brand • LMT upper receivers have a quick change barrel system with an exceptional return to zero, KAC requires proprietary tools that are near impossible to find just to change the barrel LMT gas blocks are pressed on to provide a tight gas seal and secured with a pressed cross-pin, KAC's gas blocks are slip on. • LMT uses an angled gas port which greatly reduces erosion, KAC does not. • LMT has a carrier with a split gas port, cam path that delays unlocking, lengthened bolt support which centers the carrier with the barrel and reduces stress on the cam pin, and debris cuts in the rails. KAC carrier is chrome coated and has debris cuts in the rails. • LMT has lugs with larger radius cuts to prevent cracking, relief cuts to prevent breakage, a lobster tail extractor, fully supported bolt face, and a removed lug to prevent the breakage of the lugs next to the extractor, and is chrome coated. KAC has a lobster tail, thicker walls around the cam pin which makes the cam and firing pin proprietary, a fully supported bolt face, and lugs with a larger radius cut that makes the bolt proprietary. The LMT is also made out of much stronger metal than C-158 though I can't find any info on the SR-15 bolt. Both bolts have significant changes that make them stronger than standard bolts and I doubt you'd find anything that shows that one is more reliable than the other, though I'd give the edge to LMT since it doesn't rely on proprietary parts. • A big downside to KAC's proprietary bolt/cam pin/firing pin setup is that if it goes down, you will have to find a replacement in order to get the gun running again. If the bolt/cam pin/firing pin fail on your LMT eBCG then you can simply replace it with any commonly available mil-spec version to get the gun running again. Despite being hard to find, the LMT Bolt is still MUCH easier to get than any spare SR15 part. • LMT has a true ambidextrous lower receiver, KAC does not. • LMT uses a thicker profile barrel. This adds weight but decreases the rate at which the temperature of the barrel rises.

I owned the piston defender 16” which had the monolithic upper and was Uber smooth & built epically solid. For 2k 10 years ago I’ve always liked the quality of LMT. As times change I’m more interested into Black Out Defense offerings for the money at this point with their crazy cool barrel’ & Barrel nut system along with their quality is exceeding & up to date craftsmanship seems like you get a lot for the $ with black out defense. I was waiting for a Mars 308 with a piston upper but they haven’t really changed their civilian model offerings very much from 10 years ago to my knowledge. I realize their contracts keep them busier on that side of business. It’s to bad they try out some new models for civilian use because they have quality offerings and the monolithic upper is aces. Wish they would remove some of that pic rail on their uppers tho

Lebanese guy here, the majority of rifles carried by the LAF are actually Colts donated by the US, most rifles will have the words “property of the United States Government” stamped near the Colt Logo. Due to lower military budgets a lot of soldiers will be running iron sights and vertical forward grips. Increasingly you see regular soldiers running simple optics similar to the Eotech that you have on. Silencers are not very prevalent with regular units, again due to budget and the inherent increase in required maintenance and several other political factors. Lebanese Special Forces have access to all modern accessories and higher budgets so they will be running different configurations more suited to each mission.

The LMT MW🎉S is superior to the Knights when you look at the monolithic upper. You can quickly change barrels. Change from a 6.5 Creedmoor to a 13 inch 7.62 x 51. There are barrels available for most .308 based calibers. The British tested many guns for their Designated Marksman rifle. It was the LMT was the only test rifle that could could shot 1 MOA with regular issue ammo. Colt's 6940 used a monolithic upper. And they stopped because it violated LMT's parents!

Just saw a full meltdown on another channel. For being so hyped up. It failed in the 600 round range. I've had colt, drasen, sendra, Olympic, Bushmaster, dpms, etc. Been shooting these things since 1985, in the civilian, military and l.e., fields. Only had one issue using wolf ammo in the i0s using a colt 20 round mag. Where it blew out the mag from the magwell. I believe if you use good ammo, mags, and take care of your weapon, you should be good to go. I currently have aero lowers, and a anderson. One I accidentally stripped a couple threads while installing a pistol grip I got from bcm. Totally my fault being in a hurry but was repaired. The average person doesn't need, not can they afford a 1000.00 plus rifle, a 350.00 flashlight, and a 600.0 and up optics, to defend your home and or target shoot. Yeah it's cool, and if you're a paid sponsor, have patron or a job that allows you such luxuries, then good for you. In today's market. I think the average person is lookin for a rifle for 600 or less, optics 300 or less, a red dot under 200, mags 15.00 or less, and 5.56 for about 12.00 a box or less and 9mm for about that or less. Thats where most of your market is. Or you can keep pushing the guns only 3 percent can afford.

2k for a rifle isn't really that bad, considering LMT's biggest competitor, KAC, is often 1k or more brand new, and often more on the secondary market. Even then, LMT also competes with DD in terms of prcing, and I think offers the better rifle in terms of features. BCM just manages to undercut both LMT and DD in terms of bang for buck rifle pricing, but I certainly think that LMT makes a better product, especially in the MARS/MWS platforms. Overall, it's interesting to see another reference rifle, even if it is somewhat barebones

The downside to LMT is that they sell the blems from their military contracts to the civilian market for full price and just hope you don’t notice. I have two upper receiver groups and both have noticeable issues. First one was overgassed(1pm with steel cases lol), giant burrs on the feed ramp, dinged up bcg carrier, tool marks all over. The second one the receiver is milled incorrectly and the bore Axis is not centered. The barrel drifts to the left of the receiver set and is not lined up correctly with the picatinny and so even when zeroed anything beyond 100 yards the POI is always off center. Do not buy from LMT and just spend the money on a company with competent machinist. They are not who they used to be

I've noticed a lot of Upper Receivers no longer present the Forged Mark. Which I don't like. I like knowing which company Forged the Receivers. I can't see omitting the forge mark as a cost saver. But I could be wrong. When Tim collapsed the stock and began handling the rifle. It looked like a scaled down toy in his hands. I also prefer a 11.5" to 12.5" barrel, because there's a big enough increase in velocity, which allows better range and stability of the bullet. But that's just my likes.

@@boygonewhoopdataZZ Not questioning, the manufacturing and tooling of said receivers. However, there's only 3 to 4 companies who actually forge the receivers. Usually the forged receiver is them sent to a company like LMT or CMT to machine the receivers. Forging is not an easy process. Manufactures, e.g., S&W, FN, even Colt in their hayday, didn't forge the receivers. The Forging companies are Cerro...the key hole marking, then you have Anchor Harvey....their symbol looks like a capital A. The Square symbol is from Aluminum and Brass Forgers. So I'm sorry but your comment is based on a guessing. I know firearms, my families been in the business for 70 yrs. We're an FFL 3,7, and 10/SOT.

LMT isn't talked about because they are supplier to KAC and focus on military contracts as you stated. They also do not really care about civilian sales, you have a problem with your rifle or part? Good luck, 5-7 months maybe if you're lucky, their CS is awful. They've also had a number of issues with their recent production in the last year for even their military contracts.. Before all the instagram craze, their rifles were fairly priced but now? Not really worth it unless you really need something specific like monolithic uppers or a quick swap barrel, largely not needed because of how easy it is just to swap an AR upper, also there are a lot of rails that can still hold zero on IR devices without needing the monolithic rail.

I saw an article in Playboy many years ago interviewing Michael Caine. He made a statement that I always took to heart. It went something like “the difference between Americans and the British was in America when people saw someone driving a Mercedes, they would say one of these days I’m going to own one of those. The Brits would say lets beat the shit out that guy and take his car”. Saddens me to think so many commenters on this and other sites seem to feel like the Brits, only not as extreme.

It was about $2,300 from Sportsman's Warehouse. A little less expensive than a Daniel Defense and it already has a better trigger.

Check your carrier key fasteners and have a spare bolt on standby. Their barrels were great though. Might be a good idea to replace the ejector spring and extractor spring as well. My first 3 ARs were a Colt Sporter II in 1987, then 2x 11.5” Bushmaster carbines with the 5.5” flash hiders. First Bushy had the Abu Dhabi/C7 upper, 2nd had an A2. Sold them both during the ban and made $300-$400 profit after firing them in high volume schedules, but took care of them, kept them in very clean condition. I still wish I had the C7 upper one.

Worth every penny. The standard LMT CQB-16 starts at $1,500. Id suggest that and add whatever aftermarket parts you want to make it fit you better. Or leave it stock and you’ll be more than happy. Let me be precise with this next statement: IT WILL NEVER FAIL YOU !!! Ever ! I treated mine like shit for 10 years and over 50,000 rounds. I wanted to see if it could survive what I expected of a rifle. It outlasted my vehicles , my kit , my body ! I own 11 now And about 5 other Lmt uppers And the first one is still my go to rifle. After the 50k mark I decided to splurge on some upgrades while I was bed ridden after my surgery. Now she looks as good as she runs . Trust me. Get one. If you don’t like it- sell it. They hold their value unlike everything else . I have 3 extra uppers I bought because I bid on too many uppers to build my wife one. Ended up winning 5 and paying for it. Gonna sell 3 since and buy the LMT H
