Thanks Andy - yes, my grandson would have been very disappointed if there were no 'wings' - he is just 5 but knows exactly what he wanted this Flying Scotsman to look like :)
A lovely job, extremely beautifully built, and I love the extra details you added like the double chimney and smoke deflectors, Andy has done a great job at Ragstone with the after market parts
This is what he should still look like. While we should be thankful to the NRM for keeping him 'alive' the fact remains that his historical appearance should have been adhered to. In fairness though he is still Scotsman either way.
Magic Roundabout Trains - Flying Scotsman 0:08 Chevy the Train Driver: The Flying Scott would never stood for this. Jonah: What do you mean Flying Scott? Ted Shackelford MYH: Actually, that Flying Scotsman is a Gresley A3 locomotive. Bug: From the British Railways. Fly: He means that train, Boss. Sir Tom Hanks the Conductor: Why didn't you say so?
I have the complete issues for a number of years and I am up to issue 104 but the motor and electrics are too far vague. Any better information? Thank you. ?
Hello Kenneth(?). I used a VML2C motor/gearbox assembly from ABC Gears in the UK. www.abcgears.co.uk/ Alternatively, a Slater's GB40L motor/gearbox will possibly also do the job. Using a pre-assembled motor/gearbox system is, in my view, a great advantage as it takes away any issues with meshing fold-up gearbox systems. They are expensive but well worth the cost! My model used Slater's Plunger Pickups. You will find Slater's at slatersplastikard.com/
Hello Raphael I actually have another kit sitting and waiting for a buyer. It would cost you $200 +postage (from Sydney). Let me know if you are still interested.
Hi Ruder V iI know the kit is made by Hatchet Partworks in the UK, i read all that in the video , otherwise I would not have been able to contact you. I have been building Pocher Kits and l am fairly versed building models. You may understand my scepticism buying over the net, having been caught. I am definitely interested in the kit you have. Could I ask you why viewing at this stage is not possible and what stage would be possible?
Hello Raphael. I understand your hesitancy given your experience but I can assure you I am no more than a keen railway modeller and model maker and guard my integrity closely. COVID is the answer! We have been very careful not expose ourselves during this season and will not do so with anyone that we do not know. The kit that is available contains all the magazine instalments but the early Issues have had the parts separated. I have done a full inventory and all is present and accounted for. Now, if we are to proceed we need to be able to communicate one-on-one so that monies can be received and the kit dispatched to you. I am happy to pack everything securely and to get a price for delivery by tracked courier. If you are happy with the price then we can arrange payment via a PayPal Invoice. To help facilitate this I have set up a new email address for you to use - this is the first step and will help set up the communication. Please send a message to ur@pobox.com Any message will come through to me. I hope you find this agreeable.
The kit was purchased second hand for $AU200. To this was added the motor/gearbox from ABC Gears (UK) plus a Zimo DCC Sound Decoder. I do not have a problem with the quality of the model but you would do well to look at the postings on RMWeb to see what others experienced. However, it is NOT, in my view, a beginners model as Hatchett has put forward in their marketing. There are a few things that an experienced builder will work through but where a new modeller would, I think, struggle. If you decide to build such a kit I have another that could be let go for the same cost that I paid (plus postage of course: warning because the kit was delivered Magazine Issue by Issue then there is a sizable box and weight) - mine was purchased in a batch of 3 units...
Hello Ruder Videos, Is this Kit as per the video ? Could you please send me a picture of the Kit. Is it 0 gauge? and where is it made ? Just asking to make sure , because I am hesitant to buy on the Net as I have been had for several $100 .- from china. I would have a Rail model builder friend of mine in Sydney to come to have a look at it and if happy he would buy it for me.
Raphael I suggest that you do some research on the kit that was produced in the UK by Hatchett Partworks. This company produces kits on various subjects by having people collect a series of Magazines issued over a number of months that contain parts in each of the Magazines. Over the period of the life of the magazine you get to collect all the parts needed to build a model. The completed model you see in the video is indeed '0' Gauge. It was built from one set of parts issued in 125 magazine instalments - you might appreciate that this does not lend itself to a picture or even 2 or 3. I made some changes such as adding the smoke deflectors which were sourced from a 3rd party. I do not think that this kit is a beginners kit. And, I am sorry to say that a viewing would not be possible at this stage.
Why comment?? Probably better not to say what you don't like, .it's just a negative comment that really doesn't achieve anythng Double chimney smoke Deflectors or not Charles has done a brilliant job
