This song is special to me, as the sample is from the main theme song of one of my favorite video games ever, Fable II. I played that game for hours as a child, and I would often find myself just sitting with the menu open listening to this perfect melody. It always haunted me.
Fable II is a game about choices, where ultimately you the character get to decide whether or not you become good or evil (I always chose evil lol). I wanted to expand on this concept by referencing God's elect, or chosen (the select few), something that I have been contemplating greatly recently. While from God's perspective, the elect are pre-selected and preemptively chosen to enter his kingdom, it is important to keep in mind that from our perspective we still have complete free will to do and live as we choose. Our choices determine our fates. God has infinite insight into all things, unlimited understanding, and the unique ability to know the ends of every path at once. We humans have finite insight and limited understanding. We must willingly choose to do what is right if we are to be considered among the elect. God does not force anybody to do anything. It is and has always been our collective decisions that determine our reality.
We can contribute to the descent of society, and compound upon the growing chaos, or we can make the conscious decision to elevate ourselves above the world and become one of God's elect.
Who will you become?
