Very informative video! Thank you so much. Question: why is the magazine release on the USP so different in comparison to that of the Glock? From what I understand the USP was specifically developed for military use, special operations specifically. That being said it seems a bit more difficult to unload as compared to the Glock (ambidextrous controls with standing) Any idea why this is the case?
Personally, I prefer the magazine release on the USP and Walther P99. I find it easier to be consistent with my reloads . Your right the USP was in development at the same time as HK’s Mk23. I know that when the Mk23 was in development operating the gun with gloves on was a concern, hence the oversized trigger guard. I wonder if that was one of the thoughts behind the mag release. Unfortunately, I don’t shoot enough with gloves on to have any impute on that currently. HK has always been innovators in the industry (for better or worse) from the P7, with its squeeze cocker design to the G11 caseless Rifle. I don’t know if HK was the first to use this type of mag release, but if I had to guess I would say its just HK pushing the boundary’s and trying to find new ways to innovate.
