The board looks fun. I really appreciate that your reviews are actual reviews with useful information and not just video of you riding like so many other "reviews" are.
If it was a bit longer and wider then I'd be very interested. I hope more manufacturers come out with this type of deep concave instead of the surfboard inspired styles. Love my Orangatangs BTW.
You should try Avenue suspension trucks next! I would love to hear your honest opinion! I appreciate your truthfulness and it is why me and others watch. keep up the great work and kind regards from England.
I started watching this channel because I wanted to start longboarding (I already had had a Penny nickel for 8 years). 7 months later I use my 41 inch longboard every day to get around Madrid. Great Job
Greetings from Vienna / Austria! I went through a bunch of boards, ending on the Coyote - best I've ever ridden - and use it, too, for rolling through Vienna.
Thanks! Just trying to improve the content so it's something I would want. Always hate when I find out the reviewers got something for free but they didn't disclose it
@@concrete-waves just go off work but it’s been a good experience so far but I keep falling off due to the fact it’s smaller than what I am used to but hey I’ll learn!
I only took up longboarding when in my 50s. I have 8 very different boards ..cruisers, drop throughs, from loaded , arbour, landyaught.. .prob too many ? Nooo ! Learnt to pump the sea fronts where I live in England and I can do it ok but still have to foot push every 50 yards at least on the flat.....but OMG...when I got this cross over cruiser surfskate .. Loaded Bolsa Carver ....it was amazing ..can now... on the flat ...pump for as long as I want without foot pushing ...I've done 20 mins easily...and could do more just dependent on your energy levels ! It's ike this infinity vibe...someone saw me and thought I had an electric board ...you just have to learn the pump action well....twist your body starting from the shoulders through the hips to the legs then feet, like a golf swing, whilst leaning on each rail alternately frontside with toes , backside with heals , carving and trying to throw your weight forward ,and slightly facing forwards too and importantly to bend knees to alternatly lift or stand up, then squat down slightly at the end of each twist. Once you get that all working together ...suddenly you have this eureka moment. It takes a while but keep with it and you'll suddenly get it all together.😊 This board.. Fab surf graphic too....both helps keep fit ..and a relaxation vibe at the same time... therapy ! Satisfied, smiling and stoked. Mitch ...Kent
So I thought of something you said after getting my bolsa. They probably will never sell the deck separately since it is a collaborative deal. It’s the only way they both make money off the deal.
Have mine on order. But wait, it gets better. On FB marketplace, someone selling a carver skateboard with c7’s for $75 came up that I purchased to have both types of trucks to try out with the board.
Great review! It’s really strange seeing such a young RU-vid channel with such good videos. Could you review the Landyatchz Dugout? I always see reviews for the dinghy but never the dugout and was wondering what it’s like.
Need a Landyachtz Freedive & Landyachtz Ripper review. I'm trying to decide between a Loaded Omakase and the LY Ripper. Just found out about the LY Freedive, I'm kinda eying that one too. I already have a Tugboat with Independent trucks and 60mm OJ3's, wanting something that's more of a longboard style with reverse kingpin trucks but still a cruiser. Appreciate ya!
Hey, I want to get surfskate and since I've always used loaded decks I was wondering which carver trucks should I choose. I've been pumping on loaded Icarus and cattail before but have never used specialized pumping trucks, just Paris V2/v3
I would suggest starting with the Carver CX since they pair well with almost all wheelbases. And if you want more pumpability from it, then pick up some Riptide CX bushings. I think that’s a good place to start
Thanks for the great review. Today I checked out this board at my local skateshop. I noticed, that the front wheelflairs don't line up with the turn position of the carver cx truck. It looks like they would fit a rkp truck, but the carver cx overshoots the wheelflairs. To me that was a deal breaker, since it's marketed to be designed around the carver trucks. What's the point of wheelflairs, if they don't line up?! Other than that it seemed pretty nice though.
Great review and I ordered the CX Bolsa via your link right after watching this. Would love to have your thoughts on Major Arc trucks though and if they make a decent setup?
The Loaded Bolsa push me out in the pool. I loose contact with the board, cuz of these aggressive cutouts in the front. On flat ground and low speed, this board is perfect. Using CX trucks and ABEC wheels on this board.
I realy like your awesome reviews. One small detail I am interested in: do you know whether Yow Snappers Deck is heavier than the new Bolsa and how much?
Thanks for the video. I really enjoy your surfskate videos specifically. I was thinking of buying a cx or c7 surfskate and putting it on my sector 9 strand storm and your video helped out a lot. Could you possibly make a video on a sector 9 board?
great review, thx! Would they also go well with C5? I have a set lying around. Hopefully they will provide decks only at some time, like you mentioned.
I'm an intermediate surfer who's away from the ocean for a bit so I want to invest in a surfskate to specifically improve surfing maneuvers with a bit of commuting short distances I've found a lot of contradicting information online when picking a surfkstate but I've narrowed it down to the Smoothstar Toledo 31.5" and Loaded Bolsa CX. I know they say Smoothstar is a 'better' surf trainer while Loaded's wheel wells seem to have people divided on comfort but I do love Loaded's overall board quality typically I weigh about 155-160lbs depending and 5'6 in height Any advice?
I have a landyachtz Rally cat 34-inch longboard. Can i replace my longboard trucks with carver CX trucks to make it a surfskate. Rally cat deck looks almost same as bosla. Appreciate your opinion
Love the video man! I just had to part with my dinghy and trying to decide whether to buy another dinghy or get the Bolsa CX. I love carving and do a few speed checks here and there just to keep things safe. Do you think I should give the CX a shot over the dinghy?
Thanks man! Hmmm, that's a tough one to compare. They're two completely different decks. If you want something carvier, then the Bolsa CX would make sense. The Bolsa isn't something you'll easily be able to do ollies/flip tricks on. Just depends on what type of riding you wanna do (sorry if you were looking for a definitive answer lol)
32" is a Good size! I am PERSONALLY Disappointed that LOADED got Away-From having a 'Flex-Based' Deck, after all, that''s "WHERE" I pointed them to engage & grow from, 20 years ago. And, gee, a 33", with a well-thought-thru bit-of-flex/camber could Really KILL IT on a Pump-Track!! I guess they've got new kids on the block? "Pre-School Rider" from NCDSA, and Stratton's parking garage.. HYRC, gimme back my Joy-Ride Proto deck!? Yetz should get it again, as a Momento...
This board looks so rad, I just ordered the cx this morning - I've never rode a surfskate before, been thinking about an additional board for a while, and when I saw this last night I just felt compelled to go for it
Would you say that it's comfortable to kick/push on the CX set up? My Yow Pipe gets a little sketchy if I try to get a little speed up by kicking. I love this deck shape and would like a surf skate more suitable for short distances and can kick like a traditional skateboard.
Hey nice work as always. Quick question, I've currently got Carver C5's on an 18" WB Alva deck. I'm considering moving to a smaller WB for my surfskate park setup. I also have an Omakase/ Yow (favorite board!) and know how short/ subtle the tail on that is. Do you think the Bolsa has has a big enough / steep enough tail to use as a surfskate meant for the park & perching up for a drop in?
Hi guys I have a question, I have for a year now a dinghy and I love it but I want a sharper carvier feel so I am thinking about getting a carver. is there really a big difference in feel ? Can you power slide a carver ?
How’s the CX setup for someone who’s mainly been riding a YOW Meraki (Pukas Dark) and Smoothstar (Toledo #77)? I wanted to get something that’s surfy yet easier to cruise with when I want something more compact than my longboards. YOW and Smoothstar are just exhausting for me after about a mile.
They're honestly pretty similar. But if you want to throw slides eventually, the 80as (orange) are gonna make more sense. But from a riding feel perspective... very similar
I still prefer the poke board, just put carver trucks on it. I'm looking at carver boards now, just gotta choose one, not ready when they have like 30 if them. Looking at the resin, black tip, or origin.
@@concrete-waves the shape, I've loved that deck since it was the fish, then the ceviche. I like the poke deck over all their other cruiser type board shapes, this surf skate , the omakase. In your honest opinion, would you prefer this deck over and actual carver deck? Steve at surfskate love said he would prefer the carver deck over the poke and his bowl riding video has me eyeing a carver black tip
@@concrete-waves surely subribers would wait for that. so far I think smoothstar still on the top the game until now for surfskate, no brand have surpass yet for surfskate training since its capable of 285° radius turn nothing come close to. but if your just after for carving carver rigth next to it..
How does is work in a bowl or skatepark? I have a beloved Loaded Omakase with Waterborne Adapters and although fun, it's not the perfect fit for the bowl - but this looks like it might be perfect for surfskating in a skatepark or bowl! Any thoughts? Thanks!
I haven't tested it in a bowl yet but I think it would be pretty solid because it's more stable compared to the Waterborne. The Omakase deck shape seems good for bowl riding though. Is the issue that the Waterborne is too aggressive?
@@concrete-waves It's very tall and has so much lean (which on the street I absolutely love), and with the rear adapter on it catches on the coping (not that I'm doing any of that, but I let other more experienced skaters try it out). Aside from the coping issue it's hard for me to judge, but I don't feel as comfortable on it (yet?) because of the aggressive lean, I feel like I'm going to fall if I get up too high on the wall. Plus it's heavy and awkward. But I'm a bowl beginner, so my big purchase was the Bolsa CX. I don't love it in general, but the CX does seem to work well in the bowl, which is my immediate goal. It's hard to ignore all the naysayers, but then I show them the surfskate videos and they're like, oooohhh, maybe you CAN surfskate in the bowls! SMH Thanks for all your videos.
@@rhondafosbinder644 Hi Rhonda, how is it going with the Bosa in the bowl? I'm on the same path, have an Obfive cruiser with Waterborne and it feels a bit sketchy in the bowl, I'm a beginner too. Does the Bosa with CX work well for you?
I own a coyote with Paris trucks. And for me, it is just too narrow to use with surfskate trucks. I have a Yow Padang Padang, which is 10 inch wide, and for me- just about perfect in width. When you place the decks side by side the Bolsa doesn’t seem to be that much wider than the Coyote. The Omakase looks to be the perfect surfskate deck. Too bad is so heavy! Thanks guys for your great videos! You made me pull the trigger on both the Yow and Coyote. Love them both! 🙂
Yeah, you're definitely right. There's not a huge difference between the Coyote and Bolsa (mostly the width & wheelbase options). If you already have the Coyote, I don't think it makes too much sense to get a Bolsa unless you really want that extra width and don't have another surfskate deck. I agree though... it would be awesome to see a wider version (similar to the Omakase) just not as heavy. Stoked to hear that though, thanks for watching the vids!
It depends. I would recommend Carver over other spring adapters since they're more stable, but if you're completely new, I'd probably stick to a board that has normal trucks so you can get used to riding
@@concrete-waves just to correct its 69mm that 82a duro, once it rolls it would feel the free ride under your feet, for me it's really suitable for carving. just try and on whatever surfskate truck your putting on, and it would simply compliment.
Would you say the CX Bolsa is radically different than something like the Coyote or a dinghy? I come from a dinghy and have been looking at the Omakase, Coyote, and now the Bolsa. I like carving in the city, but also have quite a few hills around here which I need to control my speed going down. Any recommendations?
How is Carver doing collabs with Loaded when they cant even keep stock of the C7 on their own website? I'm not sure it's a good idea doing a handshake with Loaded when they cant even supply thier own customers or future customers with support and production of their own trucks.
@@concrete-waves Its kinda put me off buying from Carver. Your reviews helped so much in helping me make a choice, that was months ago and my dealer still has no stock, Carver official, no stock. Even your link to the Loaded collaboration, no stock. Did Carver send you a Bolsa with a C7 on it? Seriously bad vibes about this company but thanks to Shred Shack still got a good range of alternatives to choose from!
@@garyfreeman896 Thanks, stoked to hear that. Carver didn't have anything to do with this video collab. Loaded reached out to me, but since I already had a pair of C7 & CX trucks, I told them not to send me the trucks. They sent me the deck, wheels, bushings and hardware
@@concrete-waves My LSS told me that after speaking to Carver they have issues with supply of a part from China, a very small part that is stopping the supply chain. That was in March. I really want a C7 Greenroom. What's your opinion on these supply route issues? Would it put you off buying? Where does it leave support if something fails? £300 is alot of money when you could be waiting months for a replacement or parts. Thanks for your reply, I really respect your channels opinions.
@@garyfreeman896 It seems to be a common issue with every board company that outsources their parts. I thought it would be getting better by now, but still crazy delays. The only company I can think of that creates almost all of their components in-house is YOW, which is why they're restocking faster. But even they're having stock issues... seems to be a mixture of supply chain issues and extremely high demand. It's definitely a bummer, but it wouldn't put me off of buying something I wanted... especially if it's a reputable brand. Just a lot of waiting involved, so I feel your pain
Ey, yo.... Like to travel around America with just; bike trailer/stroller, & service dog (Jack Russell). Want a board. Zero interest in EVERYTHING, Except point a - point b. (6'1", 240 lbs, 38 y/o, zero experience.... In case that makes a difference)
LY surfskate doesn't even compare in my opinion. LY deck shapes are extremely flat. There's a place for them, but it's hard to classify them as a surfskate since it's essentially just an angled rkp
Thanks for the video. Comparing the Bolsa with other Loaded decks was a brilliant idea, because it somehow puts the whole thing in perspective, I mean, people have been using Loaded decks together with Carver trucks for some time now, so my (candid) question is: does the Bolsa really bring anything new to the table?
I think the Bolsa deck definitely adds something new to the table. Is it significant enough if you already have a Loaded x Carver setup? Well, I think that's up to you to decide 😎
@@concrete-waves I actually do ride an Oma x CX, but maybe my expectations were too high because it's Loaded we're talking about. I was sort of hoping they'd drop a real gamechanger. (#storyofmylife ^^)
@@koaballero2794 Yeah I hear ya. It would've been really cool to see them innovate their trucks but I think that would've taken a long time... not to mention most surfskate designs are already patented. Instead, I think it was smart to do the collab with Carver
The challenge with the Smoothstar Thruster is that, because of the way the truck is designed, the axles sit back on the truck much further than other trucks. Which means that if you take say a Thruster and a YOW Meraki and put them on the same length deck, the Thruster will have a narrower wheelbase. So on the Thruster, you need a deck that's longer and has wider wheelbase than what you'd use on other trucks.
Perfectly explained, thanks for sharing this Steve. I've also felt like they work better with flater decks but I guess it's really just personal preference
Maybe add a popsicle shaped skateboard as a comparison so people who have none of the products mentioned they at least have a more rudimentary base to go off of?
