Loading 2 cords firewood. 2 hours in 3 minutes by old geezer

It is a lot of work but I like to load the firewood by hand to keep the firewood clean. Doing it with a loader would cause a lot of trash, loose bark, dirty wood to get into the load. Besides I have some issues with my heart and the doctors say I need lot of cardiovascular exercise. Walking gets tedious so doing something and actually accomplishing something is more rewarding.

Nice! You even had a couple smokes too! That's a lot of wood for an old timer

Well I don't allow smoking in the wood yard. Had to quit and took up vaping.. feel much better since. Yeah still amazed at the volumes required to make a couple of bucks

Excellent reasons for hand loading. What's the dimensions of your trailer? I've messed around trying to measure loose volume so there's an honest stacked volume in the trailer. Poplar i always use the bobcat to load, or process straight into the trailer since hand loading or stacking takes quite a bit of time/ value, for pretty cheap wood. Birch i have cage that holds a half cord, so I can stack & measure it. Keeps it clean, and I'm not giving a short or excessive volume. I like it because it is ground level, always close to whatever I'm stacking, and can dump it into the trailer with the bobcat.

The trailer is 14 X 7 X 4. I use 196 cubic ft loose per cord. It has been super close anytime I have tested it. I made a calculator in google sheets to do calculations for me for odd size vehicles my customers show up with. It calculates volume and does the conversion to the cubic inch. I seldom process into the trailer because everybody always wants dry wood. I like to cut the wood green so the bark stays tight no heat value is lost due to decay. Seems poplar never dries in log form unless it is logged in the spring and delimbed fresh with a delimber. Take the bark off poplar and it is awesome wood. Thanks a lot for taking a look and leaving a comment. Much appreciated!

How’s the Cat D6C running and can you do another video of it soon? Is it the 76a model or the 10k?
