It’s totally amazing how these highly intelligent cowdogs are trained to do what asked of them & not put themselves in harms way with the cattle-again unbelievable!!!
I wish I had a video of me and my mate trying to catch a young heifer that escaped the trailer and finished up half a mile away but thanks to community Facebook we found it and managed to get it back in.Result- the cows now a celebrity and my mate walks with a limp!, I’m still sore from laughing
Looks easy, it is, if your dogs have 2000 generations of cattle dog breeding. Stumpy Tails, originated on the Colo River of NSW in Australia, interbreeding imported British and European breeds with a dash of Dingo.
Absolutely Great Dogs! Neat To See The Dogs At Work, Very Well Trained And Born With Instinctive To Do The Job Working With Bulls. Thank You For Sharing.
"Physically" there is plenty of room. "Socially" now that's a little harder bulls are territorial so it's not uncommon to have some near the back of the trailer trying to keep the others out.
There’s another channel where a rancher uses border dogs with his cattle. Not nearly as successful or efficient as using a cattle dogs, which have a completely different herding instinct. Gotta have the right tool for the job😆
I have seen quite a few videos of Border Collies moving cattle just as well. Seem to be less mouthy and try to move them by sheer presence. Then if that fails they get a nip.
