@@maxwatto7072 ok so yeah I’m still using the stock strings, I just tweaked the standard tuning to get the Loathe tuning. And most importantly, what worked for my tones is definitely putting an eq before the amp sims and getting rid of most of the low frequencies to make the DI pop more. Let me know how it goes !

Hey! Thanks for stopping by :) I still use the stock strings on this guitar, it's a .24 - .84 set. And that's the "standard" Loathe tuning, from the lower string up it's EAEADF# !

Thanks dude ! So after a few months of use I’d say it is okay but with a few mods it can sound awesome without tweaking too much the sound in post prod. I’m learning a Loathe track with a low C# and damn, it can sound either good or like a wet fart depending on the part haha. I’m thinking about first upgrading the pickups with some Sentient or Nazgul Seymour Duncans and possibly an Evertune bridge when I have enough money, but that’s a big chunk of money for such an affordable guitar. Food for thought I guess hehe :) Hope it helps !

@@ArrakisOCE definitely agree, gotta tame that low E string ! But damn man, I'm supposed to be working and now I'm browsing Evertune bridges, BKP pickups and Halo guitars haha. Did not know this brand but their guitars look pretty cool

In retrospective I think at first they were not as shoegazy as we feel now. I read that Chino was heavily influenced by new wave and post punk stuff, but all this experimentation led to this heavy but dreamy sound that I fell in love with when listening to White Pony for the first time. But I agree, never heard of anyone doing this before them. If such band exist, I also want to know !

@@KEOSOUNDS yeah i should have said white pony was first time i felt that mix of melody and metal but right at that time 99/2000 there was melodic metal songs on albums before white pony but something about the combination of drone vocals lush reverbs and drowned in effects. The riffs and hooks. Mellowdrone is another good example around that time oh and i guess failure was before white pony that kind of fits but deftones held the metal title more where failure is space rock like hum and bands like that...

@@GG-ik6it Dude I've just checked Mellowdrone, did not know about them! From what I've just heard their earlier stuff has that dreamy/chill sound while still going through pretty heavy parts with almost chino-like screeches. I know just one song from Failure and it does feel similar. I'll check Hum as well, thanks for mentionning them !

Failure was a inspiration to everyone in 90s they have an amazing legacy mellowdrone is now basically big black delta kind of the evolution of his previous band and hum is legendary melodic metal newer bands like spotlights sound like them i could suggest stuff like this for days. Wish there was a genre masterlist breaking every genre and every significant underground/popular/indie artists fit in a chart where people could submit band/artist names like a school folder where youd write your fav bands names/logo's.

@@GG-ik6it Noice, I'll check all of that ! Although to me, genres are kind of a double edged sword. Great to know a genre "name" to look for similar stuff, but eventually people should be able to write what they want, if they want to mix funk, classical and grindcore, let's do this shit haha. But I kind of always listen to the same crap, really, so the kind of chart you're talking about would definitely help me finding more cool bands :)
