Lobster Sports: How to Replace the Battery on an elite Series Machine In 5 Easy Steps

Easy to follow visual instructions for replacing the battery in your Lobster Sports elite series machine from Lobster Sports Technical Support. This video covers elite three, elite two, elite one, elite freedom and elite liberty.
The only tool you will need is a Phillips-head screwdriver (or a drill).
THE 5 STEPS
1. Remove the six screw holding the red case in place.
2. Gently lift case up so you can see the battery and then rest top edge on the server wheel assembly.
3. Remove the black and red battery wires, undo Velcro straps and remove battery.
4. Install new battery by reattaching the Velcro straps and reconnecting the battery wires.
5. Replace the red case and reattach screws.
To test the installation, simply turn on the power button and listen for the sever wheels to start.

Don't make the mistake I made: I assumed the Liberty Series would have the same battery. You know, both "Liberty" . . . Wrong. The Liberty and the The Liberty Elite have different batteries. That Power Sonic battery shown is larger, and 18 AH, than the one in the Liberty, 9 AH, and will not fit. Also, the Liberty has a knob that adjusts trajectory that must be removed in order to lift the casing. Trajectory is electronically controlled in the Elite, thus no knob. Not sure PowerSonic will take back the battery I ordered, since I let it sit around in its box since October thinking that maybe the battery in the Liberty was not kaput. Conking out after 20 or so balls finally convinced me. Didn't know I had the wrong battery until I tried to install it this morning. I may be the new owner of a $52 doorstop . . .

If you have the Lobster Elite Liberty with the elevation control knob (right side) you'll have to remove that too.

Look at the battery in the video. It shows the model number, Voltage and Amp Hours. I don't think you are the type of person that should be changing the battery.

The battery used in the machines is a sealed lead acid (AGM) 12180 f2 series (the F2 is important for the correct terminals) there are several brands Powersonic is the original supplier. It is classified as a 12 volt 18 amp battery. You will save about half price by getting it on Amazon or EBay. The pickleball 1 machines are shipped with a much smaller battery that is only 9 Amps. The larger one is a drop in replacement and offered on their pickleball 2 machines. This is a no brainer.

Just swapped mine for a lithium battery. Lobster should be embarrassed that they are still using SLA batteries in their machines.

Oh! Thanks for letting me know, any alternative? There is another video which only takes out the 4 screws of the control panel before taking it out and installing the batter from there…

The elite liberty replacement video blows through the screw removal and does not mention removing the trajectory adjustment knob.

@@03041976001 Too Late! I got one 2 years ago. I've used it every day and one time I sent the machine back. Since that time, it's been very reliable. Sounds like you got a lemon...
