As a Union Construction Laborer I spent a fair amount of time with our Union Pile Drivers. They were from the Chicago local. I worked In support roles as a Laborer and at times as Chief Gofer, in charge of things gone wrong. Spent too much time near the hammer logging in the blow count for bearing. One Engineer asked me why he should trust my recordings, my integrity. I told him he didn't have to do so, he could stand near me or do it his self. He took one look at me being covered in diesel and grease from the hammer and then decided I was an honest guy! H Pile, old single stage diesel hammers are messy to say the least. Vibratory is neater when you can do it that way. Was a good living.
@@scottied67 Seriously, just saw this video come up again, and come on, have some sense, people. You have a steel pile that weighs what, 4,000 pounds (my guesstimate)? And then the leads are essentially immovable while you're loading, so your first impulse is to get between the two ton swinging dick and the giant stack of immovable steel tubing? Get the fuck out of there, literally. Guide that shit in if you have to, but do it from outside, mind your hands, and don't do this stupid shit on camera, ffs.
@@gargleblaster He's fine. I'm sure he's learned by now. He's actually a good hand. These guys do this for a livin. If I remember correctly it was hot as shit when this job was done. Long hours in the heat can make you forget things. If you've put in work under those circumstances I'm sure you could understand. GETTIN IT!!!

I just start pile driving, but with a boom truck and it’s so hard for me to do it also my truck is 4 ton max capacity and the hammer we are using it’s 4,000 pounds and boss wants me to pile it my self I don’t think that’ll be possible I’m trying to do that today with no guides and no leads sounds like a crazy idea 💡 can anybody give me any advice on n this one please
