Matt started climbing in Wisconsin 14 years ago and hasn't looked back. He splits his time as a photographer, writer, cyclist, and working at a local climbing gym in Vegas, when he's not climbing of course. After focusing a lot of time and energy on Zion big walls this summer, he's psyched to get back into some local projects.

So cool to see you solo offwidth so solidly! I've soloed some easy offwidth, and it's one of the most surreal feelings! To climb instinctively, because you have to, but you don't feel like you're in danger. And it feels so much easier without all the gear.

So is free solo on offwidth different than free soloing face or crack climbs? Not sure what to think, but still gets my respect.

In the case of squeeze chimneys like this I'd imagine that you are pretty safe as long as you stay well within the crack itself. No reason that you would randomly fall out of something that your body is pretty well cammed into.

1st is Desert-erada 2nd is Plumbers Crack (V2 / harder side) 3rd is Trophy Crack 4th is Chrysler Crack

It’s really cool to see someone crush easier offwidths. I feel like most OW send videos are crazy invert/roof cracks that don’t really teach much to people just getting into it.
