Probably didn’t want to pay the royalties to Wakeman every year, I quite like the music to the opening though, the graphics of the links across the country suit the local elections too.
Do you have the BBC"s 1996 US presidential election night show? I used to have it on VHS video but I'm not sure whether I still do. (I also used to have the 1992 US election show).
I have got the BBC's coverage of the 1996 US Presidential election. Just doing a capture now. I think I skipped it originally because it was long and quite dull but my technology is better now.
Sorry if this seems a naive question, but did BBC Scotland take this coverage or opt out? Thanks for uploading - the writing was on the wall for the Conservatives, before the wall collapsed for them in 1997.
According to The Guardian there was an edition of 'Words with Wark' at 10.55. This only lasted an hour and I don't know whether it was followed by a closedown or joining the election coverage midway through. There were no local elections in Scotland in 1996.
@@DBIVUK thanks David, I just wondered when I saw the South East opt out and wondered what Scotland/NI did during those moments, if indeed they took the coverage at all. Thanks again for your help.
The 95 and 96 local elections were really the point when the Tories just threw in the towel; as if to say it was now not a question about whether labour would win the election, but rather by how much.
