Yes, we use European calenders but schools close differently than other countries and we have our own holiday celebrations ( Also it has been many years since the borders had open, you should like do research and there are good articles about it )
They are friendly because they believe in KARMA. And IF you believe in KARMA. Then you have some fear of the outcome you cause. KARMA is a system. To calm burmese peoples. Because they were very aggressive from centuries. It is way to calm down.
I don't think it is a way to calm down as only a small portion of people from myanmmar were actually aggressive buddism is just a culture that is passed down and taught.
