I think the most heartwarming thing about this video is to see that you are exactly the same person around your parents as you are on your own. Not that we'd expect any different because that's why we watch you in the first place. Great to see everyone is doing well.
Great vlog. Mum would have been 79 today but sadly passed last May. Family is what counts the most, so this has cheered me up a bit today remembering the times i did this with her. Thank you Gaz 👍
It’s great you’ve still got local shops that sell fresh made pies. Really well filled as well. Good to keep up those small family traditions with your parents.
Gosh £1.80 pence for that pie ,fantastic value ,how nice a retail outlet takes cash only. ,just like it used to be.independant retailers deserve our support .and their quality is how they survive ,amazed there’s no queue outside,👍
I don't know if Mum and Dad have access to these videos and read these comments or not... but if you do then be aware, that son of yours is doing a cracking job in getting the best value for folk from the shop shelf in these challenging times.
Perhaps they call them 'Potato and Meat' now is because the potato content does outweight the meat, unlike the old days. When I was a kid I used to collect a load of pies from our local bakery, Esther's, and take them down to the cotton mill for all the ladies' lunches. They loved Esther's meat and potato pies best of all, but her cheese and onion weren't far behind. The women gave me tips, enough to buy a record at the end of the week. Should have pickled red cabbage! 😂😋

Great to see you looking after your lovely Mum and Dad, Gareth. Some of the best pies are in Barrow and the least expensive. On early mornings all our shift had a meat and potato pie, fresh from the bakers and a pint bottle of milk @7am - happy days, delish!
I'm jealous! We had a shop that cured meats, made sausages and lovely pies like what you bought, but it closed 18 months ago after nearly 100 years in business (and they took cards!) I really miss their lovely food. Well done for supporting your local businesses and paying cash, Gareth! Great to see your lovely mum and dad again, and the doggy one!
There is a butches/bakers shop out in the sticks near me, they do local farm stuff and their meat pastries were the best ever. One week i noticed they had different ones in and there were nowhere near as good. When i enquired about them, i was told it was a local lady who used to make them for the shop, and she had recently passed away. ☹ Such a shame, obviously for the old dears family, but i will never get to savour one of them fine pastries again.

I didn't know tha was a Barrowvian. I was brought up in Ireleth, up the road from Askham. Can't believe that my late dad took me into 'The Black Dog Inn' when I was only 5 back in 1967.
we have lost our Butchers and bakers here in our part of kent so we long for the days of fresh, hot meat pies mind you we are original Londoners so our fave pie is the one that comes with mash and liquor from the good old pie and eel shops like Manzes in south east london. when we travel to scotland to visit family we love their scotch pies and when we go to Blackpool its meat and potato. Nice to see your lovely parents again and your Mum brews the perfect cuppa by the looks of that one you had...
Hi Gareth l find your videos very entertaining. You are reviewing food that many people purchase and I particularly enjoy the comparisons that you do such as lasagna and sausages. I love the potato and meat pies…..real food!!!!
Just squat a couple of £10 notes in your car as a back up. Your poor mum had to miss out. What a lovely person to forfeit her pie. A genuine old fashioned Mum 10/10.
2 Potato and meat pies - as nice as they are - still not 'fair exchange' for that wonderful spread your mum and dad cooked up a few weeks ago! You look so much like your dad and I can see that your mum has a lovely smile, dancing eyes and is probably full of mischief! - lovely qualities to see in parents. But them pies do look yummy.

Hi Gareth god you are like your dad those pies looked nice you can't beat a good old meat a tata pie that's cheap in st helens they are 2 pound oddeach you can't beat a good home made pie my mates mum used to make a great meat and tata pie on a Saturday and i used to stay and we had pie green beans and gravy over the pie
I hope you get your mum a pie or something nice since you never had enough for her ,the last video at your mums was great her yorkshire puddings looked fantastic ,as did the rest of your meal .

Great when you include your Mam and Dad. Them pies looked good and a good balance of meat and potato. Used to have a bakery across from me Mam and Dads, but he was a right tight bugger. If you got a meat and potato pie, it was like 'hunt the meat' cos he used really cheap mince. Basically my Mam used to just call them Potato pies! lol Oh, and btw, I have one of those very same plates, had it years...
