Locating a Rich Paystreak and Mining it!

In this video we start by looking at how to read an Alberta river for where a paystreak might be found, then I show you a fairly unique paystreak that was hiding just out of the water. I setup the highbanker and dig hard for about 36 minutes of "pump-on" time. I was pleasantly surprised to actually blow past the 1 Gram per hour mark on this dig, albeit a short but sweet paystreak.
Thanks for watching!

You are in the perfect place to find neolithic artifacts like points (arrowheads), blades, and bird points! They fall out of the cut bank and get covered by the gravel. Sometimes they can be found on top.

Thought… only losing 3 colours out the bottom of the sluice… what about all that water splashing vigorously out the top… particularly right when shovel fulls of new material is landing on that first level. Just noticed exactly how much that is happening because or your wonderful camerawork and that beautiful backlight making every drop splashing out of there gloriously visible! :) But yeah, thoughts? I’m sad your moving. Glad for you for certain, wishing you all the best and thank you for all of your episodes on your channel. Awesome job! Your test at 26 minutes into the video actually still had 100 + pieces of gold. So your underestimating your capture rate. Your still way above 98%. Great recovery.

Chris experiments a lot, makes for excitement. Mr. UtmostOutdoors, I mention to Chris he had audio problems, suggested a fix and the black fizzy windsock clipped onto his hat near his ear is now in use. A clip on Bluetooth mic. If you have company, with you out on the adventure, issue a clip on mic so we can hear them. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-grD97No4p3c.html

I used Dream Mats a fair bit between 2020 and 2021, and kept using some in 2022 out in BC. They actually worked fantastic on some BC creeks I mined, and I appreciated lack of cons and ease of cleanup. But on this Alberta dust, it's painfully clear they are miss-marketing their "mini beach mat" for this sort of gold. It works, but you would need cart around a lot more sluice length to come close to what the old school moss can do.
@josephsmith9374
@josephsmith9374 Год назад
@UtmostOutdoors they are neat and fun to use but none of the pros will put their money on dream mat for gold recovery, and for good reason. For me, screens, carpet, and moss are the way to go

Kyle you are spot prospecting not conducive to an accurate finding of a streak . Yes you will find gold where the gravel is mounded . I have found it to be more accurate to do a shovel wide trench perpendicular to the river flow about 2-3inches deep . and every 2 feet of trench pan till you hit a transition in your gravel trenching or where the gold peters out . Spread the trenches apart about 10-12feet apart . It takes longer but like the fram oil filter commercial pay me now or pay me later . And one wants to waste no moves . Transitions in gravel type are another indicator. I recently also noticed in one of your videos lots of organic debris called horse tails with more muddy gravel . The gold count if I remember right was around about 300 colors /pan . Maybe there is a correlation between that debris and gold deposition . In this video you really pounded the material into your just shovel sluice box no distractions of moving gravel out with ones hands as one finds with straight bar grizzlies . That curved screen works well using both hydraulic pressure and the angle of repose to stay clean . Any gravel hanging up being pushed forward by the next gravel water mix following it out of your hopper .The steeper sluice box angle is closer to the angle of repose as well ( where the gravel will move by gravity alone) which assists the waters hydraulic pressure to move material. You do have one hell of a machine that kicks ass. If I was physical able to gold mine anymore you would have me as a customer buying a unit off you . If it does this well with flour gold it will have no trouble getting anything that comes through your screens . One thought is you may even be able to use a 3/8" screen with coarser gold . Another great video
@danhodgins4015
@danhodgins4015 Год назад
It's way better to be too steep and have cells clearing properly, than to run too flat with improper exchange. Makes sense to overdo angle, flow and feed at first to test the box, and then gradually lighten up until you hit the sweet spot of all 3. My guess is that slightly hot is better than too flat/slow. An informative test regardless! Keep up the good work.
@lotharschiese8559

Are you suggesting taking the concentrates and running them again while making adjustments. Even a 3rd time and mark what the angles are on each side when everything is dialed in! Eh? It is most logical, said science officer and first officer Spock!

Have you thought about getting a taller tripod? Get a better angle on the highbanker working while remaining hands free. Watching it process through paydirt is always super satisfying to me, or panning from start to finish. I would be interested in extra stand alone content of the process, or like a timelapse even.

How big of a pump GPM would you need for a 36 inch double decker setup? Im thinking this design would be great for a production Nome beach banker.
@UtmostOutdoors
@UtmostOutdoors Год назад
I am running 20GPM for each 12" of sluice width. A 36" wide double level be running 120GPM. Special care to evenly distribute the water would be key. It may be simpler from a design perspective to simply run the two boxes side by side at that scale. The double level design is just a way to keep this box as light and compact as possible for one person to cart around, and keep it down to a size easily shipped to places like Nome. Would be cool to see a big project like that built!

I made similar miller table to yours, but now I wonder how to efficiently screen material to not to loose gold. Based on your experience, is it worth to screen material on more screens other than 20 mesh(like 40, 60, 100) or 20 mesh is good enough and on miller table it won't make a difference to screen further?
@UtmostOutdoors
@UtmostOutdoors Год назад
I have screened down to 30 mesh before and found it seemed to help with some of the larger (between 30 mesh and 20 mesh) flakes flipping down the table. I tried 50 mesh once, but the screening took so long I'm not sure it was worth it on my local gold. My local gold is all nice and flat so it sticks to the table nicely and I usually just screen down to 20 mesh. I have accepted some losses into the tub, so I always start with a fresh empty tub at the miller table stage so I can collect all the tailing to re-run later. My plan is to do one final run of my miller table tailings at the end of the year rather than aim for 100% capture rate each cleanup. Best of luck with your cleanups!
